to me pell is dead. You can make your own stories, you don't need to always follow the story of the author. One piece for me is how I imagine it. The good thing about one piece is that I don't have to make a lot of changes to it in my mind. Just a few corrections here and there and I'm a happy reader

I read the first sentence of the spoilers and stopped because, I didn't want to spoil the potential epicness of the chapter. Simply reading the first sentence of the spoiler made me amped for the actual chapter.

Spoiler section of APforums. I don't like other spoilers unless it's the FULL raw chapter, because seeing an epic panel at the end of the chapter can mess up the surprise of the chapter.

Reading the cover story and title of the chapter is cool. But last week it ruined it because the final panel was the first thing posted and so I knew what would happen in the end so I read the whole spoiler. This week I just read the first 2 sentences to see if it seemed like I should wait or not. I decided their is potential for shit to happen so I didn't read past the first 2 sentences.

Really hoping that 700 is a big reveal of some sort. It HAS to be, there's no way oda won't do something huge, the other x00 chapters weren't at transitional arcs so they weren't as flexible but damnit if 700 isn't something huge

Same here. I know it was my fault for joining the topic, but it didn't have the link to chapter and it was a discussion of people who already saw the spoilers. I expected Kuzan, which would have been much more surprising/shocking had I not known…
I tend to just look at everything when it comes out, rather than waiting for spoilers. At times, I even take several month breaks and then come back and read all the chapters in a go or two.

Apart from chapter 100, the 200, 300, 400, ect. chapters haven't been big. I doubt a Kaidou reveal especially a full one prior to Big Mam being fully seen.

I can't do that. I did REALLY enjoy when I got into One Piece in HS over the summer. In a week I watched like 400 episodes of One Piece and a few weeks later read the first bunch of chapters from Marineford Arc (when I first got into manga and was able to enjoy it/manga in general). I wish I could take a break but odds are I'd run into spoilers on YT or somewhere else AND I hate waiting a week as it is.

Only really agreed with 3, and some of 5 and 6. 1 seems more like he was just expecting something that didn't happen, I basically just disagree on 2, and I'm not even touching 4.
The fights could've been better this arc, especially for the climax. I actually liked Luffy vs. Caesar, and the Virgo fight had a good start, but otherwise the fights seemed kinda lacking. So I agree with him on that point.
Main issue with the pacing was the running away from the Slime and the constant focus on Caesar being evil. Otherwise I was generally fine with the pacing.
I really hated how Vergo vs Smoker was another set up for another awesome Law moment. I mean I was beyond hyped up when Smoker screamed that he is gonna kick his ass for hurting his subordinates which was exponentially more engaging than Law's new age slash we don't give a shit (cause we can't relate to him), I was like this is gonna be a match to remember (A vice admiral fighting another corrupted VA who was seemingly a great guy)… and not
While I don't mind Law too much, his ability really irritates me. I just don't understand how he can have so many abilities just off of one devil fruit. It seems way too overpowered, and I hope we learn some major drawbacks to his ability before too long.
Seriously, though; worst One Piece arc? Even considering Doflamingo's involvement? The history of the island? Caesar's plan? The underworld of the series being foreshadowed? The plan to take down Kaidou? All the connections revealed?
I know it's all subjective, but I don't see how someone can rate this as the worst arc, even with its problems (and let's be honest, it did have quite a few problems). At least it was action packed, exciting, and gave us a lot to look forward to.

My main issues indeed are with point 3, 5 and 6.
4 should be renamed Tashigi and Smoker. Heck, I have been waiting for like a decade for them to be relevant to the main story but the way Oda treated them was pissing me off.I think the guy focused too much on Law's power and not enough about his genuine lack of character. Its pretty much a copy and paste of a previous post
I agree that Law is cold and cool but apart from that there is not much to him at all.
Its not about his role or job but more about his lack of depth or character that makes me despise his character and the way everyone overfangasm over him is ridiculous. He doesn't have to cry to be interesting, a little speech or thought is more than enough (Mihawk's speech, Smoker's view on the imperfection of human society) and so far he has not really done any of that. As red letter media says, Law makes me think of a small man who has no qualities (his lack of depth) and compensates by buying a cool car (superpower and looks). His character also feels shallow because its doesn't feel that he has things to overcome or character arcs but everything feels too easy for him.In other words, there must be a consistence (more like a balance, a bad moment must lead to a good one) between his character and his feats. Law just does awesome feats and nothing more. For instance, Solid Snake would have never been my favourite character of all time if he was just a badass shooting people ( yet he never cries). Moments when he doubts himself, speech about life, when he helps other people overcoming their own difficulties, when he shows compassion, regrets and empathy make me love him so much because any of us went at least once through these kind of events. In consequence, anything Snake does is beyond epic (bungee jumping, being sneaky, kicking ass, god even when he moves his eye a little) because the guy earns them. His depth and character are consistent with his epic feats. Once again, mystery is not equal to depth.
Tbh, I found Luffy to be very shallow in this arc. Defeating CC felt underwhelming because he did not feel threatning at all. I honestly found that Luffy's desire to become FI's hero for Jinbe's sake (he really helped him mentally after losing Ace) was far more engaging and its really satisfying when Jinbe saves Luffy with his blood cause the whole racism issue went full circle. That alone makes FI better than PH arc. Not to mention FI had great moments like beautiful exciting underwater adventure, Zoro one shoting Hody underwater (unlike Law he really effing earns it), Oda making very great points about racism, straw hats showing their progress (instead of running non stop) and Smoker and Tashigi being perfectly reintroduced.
I pretty much consider myself a classic fan (I pretty much loved One Piece by myself) but this is the first arc where I wanted to jump of my seat and scream
To me, Law is dangerously shaping up as the Sasuke of One Piece for me.

Quick question. I only browsed the first page of the chapter (to gauge how the translation is. I do that often), but I've noticed that mangapanda and mangastream have two different translations for the soldier explaining that Cesar made his troops ditch their gear. Mangapanda has the soldier say that "they" we ordered to ditch the gear, implying that the man is a really perceptive Marine (makes sense, considering that the guy is wearing a Marine hat). But mangastream, usually the more reliable source, says "we" were ordered to ditch the gear, implying that the guy was actually one of Cesar's men that the Marines brought with them. Wait, so which one is it?

MP is right. The guy is a perceptive Marine. Oda wanted you to know that, which is why he gave them random G5 accessories.
MS is by no means a more reliable source.
