T_T How many more children's authors do we have to lose?

Until no more children books are written.
But besides the point, I have no connection to this guy except "Where the wild things are". And I like his style of art.
-
“But the wild things cried, “Oh please don’t go - we’ll eat you up - we love you so!”
And Max said, “No!”
The wild things roared their terrible roars and gnashed their terrible teeth and rolled their terrible eyes and showed their terrible claws but Max stepped into his private boat and waved goodbye. -
He was only recently on the Colbert Report. He was still kickin' with snarky remarks and witty banter. Hard to believe he could die so quickly after

Where the Wild Things are was a huge part of my childhood. Such a shame to see him go.
-
Whoah, I was just talking about Where the Wild Things Are with friends last night.
So sad.
-
Damn. This is some really sad news in an already depressing week for media-related deaths.
Very sad to hear. Where the Wild Things are is still a fantastic book.
-
Oh my fucking god!
This is gonna sound strange but he was actually vaguely a family friend at least at one point, to my grandmother. I actually have an autographed copy of one of his books that was like a present for me when I was born. And one of the little cards that got sent out when I was born he let have some drawing of his on it (this of course being before photoshop and home computers lo).
From what I gather he was a very melancholy guy.I'm more worried about my grandmother honestly atm.

Heard about this on twitter
I only remember the Little Bear series and 1 famous book/poem that was always read in school: Chicken Soup with Rice
-
WHAT THE FUCK! I just came back from a Children's Literature final exam, where one of the biggest questions was "Who wrote Where the Wild Things Are", and I easily remembered the answer.
;_; I loved that book.
A thousand pardons to his family, friends, and fans.

I know! I remember seeing him on the Colbert Report … what I think its been less than a month he was joking around with Stephen I don't remember if any health issues were commented on
-
So sad. I happened to like that book
-
I remember having Where the Wild Things read to my class when I was in first grade. And before that I used to watch Little Bear every morning and still catch an episode occasionally on Netflix. He will be missed.
-
His appearance on the Colbert Report was awesome. I wish I could live to be 83.
