A manga about voleyball, wich is a sport that I don't follow at all but the manga is good imho o_o
Maybe it's the art idk, but I enjoy it. Give it a read guise.

I loved the art, it feels different from everything else.
I enjoy it so far as well, but I'm gonna need a serious match to judge it properly.
This manga makes me want to play voleyball, wtf xd
Hope it won't get cancelled, theres worse manga in Jump anyway.
Chapter 8, as the first chapter with real backetball action, really grabbed my attention now. I hope this manga stays as well, it has a lot of potential. Won't three sports manga running at the sime time be too much for Jump, though?
^I hope not, this manga is by far more realistic than the other 2.
Just read the first few chapters, I really enjoyed it. This series has alot of potential

Wait, counting Kuroko no Basket, there's another sports manga in JUMP?!
and yeah, Haikyu's art is wackier but the actions and stuff are definitely more realistic than Kuroko…
Oh, and chapter 9 is out…
lol forgot about Kurogane… Well, maybe because it's not a ball sports...
That aside, anyone know how many chapters are we behind?
Of Hq? Chapter 12 is in issue 24, I believe.
Kuroko no Basket is a fucking joke of a manga tbh, and Kurogane while it isn't bad…. the story revolves around a ghost teaching kendo to a guy that gets tired just from scratching his ass. It would be really frustrating if Haikyu couldn't compete with these 2 mangas
Where are the chapters….....:getlost:
Another great manga that I've read recently. It's selling pretty well and also doing great in the ToCs. Hope scanlations catch up soon.
This manga should be able to hold till it completely hooks its audience. I hope so at least, cuz I really enjoy reading it.
The author sure improved his/her coloring skills. Nice
Hahaha poor Yacchan, I'm glad this series is picking up popularity even in sites like mangareader it gained a hot banner. I just wish it will continue to steadily rise in fame , I dont want it to turn into the next Kingdom. Hehe
Kingdom is probably worse than Haikyuu!! is plot progression and character-wise. For a sports manga, Haikyuu is doing an incredible job at making both the characters and their individual and collective stories interesting and compelling to read.
And it just keeps getting better and better too. A couple of months ago, it was just a guilty pleasure read that I followed because it was in WSJ and was relatively interesting, but now I'm really looking forward to each new chapter. More people should pick it up. It's getting good.
I imagine the anime will bring lots of people into the series. I'm only a couple of chapters in and I'm enjoying it a lot, sports series are always fun to read/watch.

No no, that is not what I meant dryish, what I was meaning to say is that I don't want it to be neglected for a long time like kingdom given its brilliance as a manga series.
True, now that they are entering a new tournament arc, it is bound to be explosive on the get go. Besides I want to see how strong the other 2 aces are in the coming chapters. Plus…who wouldn't want a rematch between Nekoma and Karasuno. XD
So, anyone else watching the anime now that it's started?
This thread has never been too active (hell, I've never posted in it…) but I've seen a few posts outside of it from people to know that it's got a few readers kicking around.
I watched the anime firs episode and it was amazing!
Is right now my favorite sport manga and I was hoping the anime did it justice, and for now it is awesome. I expect that it grow bigger than Kuroko no Basket, and that at least for 1-2 years turns up to be the second most popular manga in Shonen Jump.
Let's see where it goes.
P.S: The jumps in this episode were made amazingly, it gave me goosebumps.
Does the anime do justice with the author art ? I'm afraid it's not really possible since it is nice in drawing but maybe not that much in motion.

Is different, but not that much. Is still great.
The author art is exquisite it would be hard to really do it justice. For me it seems they did the best they could. Only watching will you really know if you like the differences or not.
HQ's actually done a good job with the animation. I think it was off once or twice, but on the whole it's doing a really good job on that front of keeping everything looking fluid.
I'd recommend giving it a watch if you like the series. There's some stuff the anime can't quite capture (like how occasionally in the manga the art will go up a notch for a specific scene), but it does try so you'll still get that same feeling from the scene… it's just lacking a little oomph in comparison to the manga for that scene.
I can't wait for Nishinoya to be introduced in the anime.
The first episode of the anime was fantastic! The production value, the jumps, the music and Oh God the opening!
Once again I will stick with the manga. I really am not an anime guy anymore. After watching the episode and rereading the chapter, it was clear what I like the most. At least it will do its job in bringing new readers so I can't complain about that.
Nobody found it weird those vertical lines on the necks of the characters ?
Episode 2 was great, but I'm not sure if I liked the animation sequence of Kageyama's jump serve.
Another great episode! :) I'm loving it!
Now, waiting another week for Greatness.
Episode 3 caught well the start of Hinata and Kageyama' friendship. It was great.
WOW, Chapter 103 and 104 were incredible, this author really knows how to make matches interesting.
Anybody knows what happens with the scanlations of this manga in english? They stopped in chapter 102 while in Japan they are already in 106. I was able to read 103 and 104 because they are already translated in Portuguese.
I wonder, Casanova sometimes get slow with Haikyuu!! for some unknown reason. Atleast they do a good job with it.
Episode 4 gave me chills. The anime is still a solid adaptation, the animation quality didn't drop at all and the pacing is nice.
Chapter 105 is out in casanova!
! Tsuki will train with University guys and his brother! Hinata saves Kyoko, and the other guy attention shifts from Kyoko to Hinata(Fujoushi will love to misinterpret that part XD). A new team to play against Karasuno, keep them coming XD. It seems next chapter will be softer, given that is the time between the first preliminaries and the second.
Episode 5 was good, nothing so spectacular. I'm starting to wonder if the adaptation would try to focus a bit more on the female team even if it turns out to be filler…

That would be cool! I hope that in the manga right now the author do this as well, he gave a hint about that. Is always good to see other matches outside from our main characters.
This episode was overall super funny! I can't wait for next episode will be 3 entire chapters of game adapted! :3
I'm really liking this manga, they're not super weak or the other way around, they have things they need to all learn and grow from and you can see most of, if not all the characters development. I'm very happy with this manga. :]
This thread isn't super active so I just want to throw in my 2 cents. I love Haikyuu. It's my favorite manga currently. It's like the new Eyeshield, with great art, great cast and chemistry, great games, great atmosphere; it's as good as sports manga gets. It's got this lovely sense of energy to it that really reels you in. Chapters 103-105 were once again fantastic.
Finally caught up with the manga and I fell in love with it. Definitely some of the best uses of double page spreads that I've ever seen, and the action feels so dynamic.
Episode 6 was great, they got the funny parts right. And it seems like the next episode will end with
! Nishinoya appearing.
Also, seven episodes and we'll get to chapter 20 already? So I guess this season will end with their
! defeat in the interhighs
Episode 6 was amazing, but I kind of wished they added amazing filler plays to add more in the feel of the game, like they did in the match of the first episode.
@GJardim, Yep I believe that the anime will end in that part. For what I can see right now, they adapt 2 normal chapter or 3 match chapters into 1 episode, by that it should get there or at least close.
Episode 7 was another amazing episode of Haikyu!!
Why do we have to wait a week to watch an episode! :'( I can't wait to see Asahi and Nishinoya(even though Nishinoya appeared a little in this episode).
The OST for Oikawa was really cool and the episode was overall great.

! They just started playing with that team, one of the top 4 of the prefecture, and is easily seen that they are Super strong already! The game should be awesome. No forget what I said before, the game WILL be awesome!
Fun manga, I like the characters a lot. Especially the juxtapositions in their personalities, like how Kageyama is surprisingly bad at academics, and how the captain is surprisingly sly and gets scary when he's mad. Good team dynamics going on, and the art is engaging even if the faces can get a little wonky.
Episode 8 was a calm episode but I really liked it. Nishinoya's voice actor is amazing.
It is announced that the Haikyuu!!'s new opening will be sing by Sukima Switch and the new ending by Tacica.
Oh wow, episode 9 was amazing; the drama, the animation and the music were perfect.
Haikyuu!! is definetely best anime of this season, and possible of the year!
This episode had it all!
Kiyoko serve eating the bottle was definitely the best part of the episode XP
The music against Datekou was epic, if the inter-High games use that music it will be epic as f**k!
P.S: Hoping that Haikyuu!! has a bigger following in manga than Kuroko no Basket(700k until going out the rankings) and somewhat close to that of Attack on Titan(1.6M) or at least Naruto(1M). And in anime more than Kuroko and Free!.

Well, I just saw on Batoto that it hit 7 million pritings with 11 volumes, which is a good thing. http://www.batoto.net/comic/_/comics/haikyuu-r1873#commentsStart (for some reason linking directly to the comment isn't working)

Yep, I read about that in Mangahelpers. With that it has 636 364 printed copies per volume in average, Kuroko no Basket has 1 Million of that and Attack on Titan has around 2 Millions(last volume had a print of 2.75 Million though) :'( is still so far away :'( but it will get there, but is really close to Toriko with his 689 655 printed copies per volume in average.
Last reported week, Haikyuu!! volume 10 had 451 979 copies sold, it is 248 021 copies behind what Kuroko does. Let's Go Haikyuu!! You can do it!
! P.S: I believe that the last 7 episodes of Haikyuu!! will be the most hyped and exciting episodes of the series. That game is around the level of Slam Dunk last game, and I'm being biased in Slam Dunk direction!
