I must say it is kinda weird no one of them expected Azami to pull something like that…Even thought it was said beforehand.

why are they even give them a fight?
why don't just make the goal of this trial to remake the dishes explained in class?i mean i get it on a story level, but when you start thinking about it,they have no need to cheat when they are basically controlling the entire exam..they can do whatever they want
-
The corrupt teachers are even bigger idiots than I thought.
You just put a Nakiri and the two tournament runner ups in THE SAME TEAM.
This was over before it began. -
They put the best ones in one place, so they aren't the ones in danger, the other groups are. I hope is a switch and bait.
-
"You know those guys that did super well during the past year and represent the push towards innovation that we do here at Totsuki?
"Yeah?"
"Fuck those guys in particular. In fact it'd be super hilarious if we pooled them together to show the pinnacle of cooking in the first year class"
"wait what?"
-
I feel like we've done this song and dance before
-
Lol this conflict is fucking retarded. Might as well have handed them a post it note with "Salmon" written on it. Same as that 10th seat fight, completely arbitrary.
This. I mean basically that is what happened. I hope they do use their bad fish, their cooking has to transcend the ingredients they were given. Now that you guys pointed it out, I am worried about the other teams, anyone in particular failing?
-
Come to think of it, this will actually help them make a dish that's "just right" (AKA in line with central's standard)
If they had normal ingredients, they'd make something amazing without even trying.
By starting out with garbage, their efforts will produce something neutral! :D
That kinda thing. Positive nerfing. -
I can't wait for the climax of this:
"How can this be… A dish made with the same primary ingredient... that's also delicious? How can this be???" -A Master Chef/Gourmand

-
It's like a bunch of teenagers trying to escape from an "adult" paranoic world.
-
LOL why not just give them an empty box? They are already so blatant with their discrimination against the rebel first year.
You put all the top 16 (4 in the top 8) into one group. Two of them are good with seafood and one is an expert in making weird dishes using unusual ingredients. Surely, they can't make a good dish!?
You are supposed to separate them to quell their strength and not put them into a group to make them stronger…
I sincerely hope that not the other 5 tests will end up with the same uninspired regurgitated "first years exceeding their expectation" crap.
Even Asano's plan to destroy class 3E make more sense...

About the anime, I enjoyed the first episode.
It was a bit rushed but it was to be expected with them having only 13 episodes to cover the entire tournament. It's a shame that they have to skip things to do that.
My favorite foodgasms of the tournament are coming next week (EbiEbiEbiEbi !!!!). I can't wait -
Well the first episode of season 2 was awful. They skipped over Soma and megumi going to teach the kids and sped through everything in the Alice match. All the build up, the actual match and the conclusion were all rushed through so the match had absolutely no impact and the directing was seriously weak. I don't think they ever lingered on a single frame for more than 2 seconds and 80% of it was just slow panning shots, the rest was just a still frame of a character cheering in a void. What was the point in splitting this into a second season if they were just going to half ass it? I'll watch next week for EbiEbiEbiEbiEbiEbiEbi but if it stays as bad as the first episode then there is no point in watching any more. What an embarrassing drop in quality from the first season.

As expected they easily pass. I guess the next step would be something like: 'Recreate the dish cooked by Azami perfectly', with the struggle being them not having seen the precise cooking method or something.
Because giving them the freedom to pass without cooking like Central shows….well, ineffective :D

Honestly, I like how their solution wasn't "find a way to make this shitty salmon good"it was "go out and buy a better salmon"that's smart people thinkin', right there
-
I hope that at least the other groups struggle and its shown, this party just couldn't fail. My fear is that they gave them the "biggest" difficulty and the rest have easy though to not warrant focus.
-
why couldn't she just lie and refuse to let them pass again?
-
why couldn't she just lie and refuse to let them pass again?
The same reason why Souma won against Eizan, I guess.
-
The same reason why Souma won against Eizan, I guess.
well in that instance it was eizan pride that forced him to make it a fair fight..but here there's no pride involved..they just decided that they are ok with cheating enough to give them shitty ingredients but not ok enough to just fake a reaction..or just flat out tell them that they don't pass because they have to repeat what it was taught during the lessons..and since the teachings are now all about just repetition and no free will and creativity,it wouldn't even be cheating..that's a private school ,they can decide the success or failure conditions at will.

Well that was a good episode, and I've really been enjoying seeing the growth of Megumi since I started watching this series. Now with that out of the way.
! You don't go full on JoJo and then go to credits, that is something you just don't do. I was so pumped up seeing that and when it goes to the credits I get bummed out because I realize the episode is over. Seriously though, that was the best part of this episode and there was some really awesome stuff this episodeQuick question for those who have been reading the manga, should I just stick with the anime for now, or should I get into the manga as well?

I recommend you start reading the manga after you have finished watching the anime. With just 13 episodes the anime will likely leave some stuff out.
-
why couldn't she just lie and refuse to let them pass again?
Take delicious food as truth serum. A bit forced, tho.
-
why couldn't she just lie and refuse to let them pass again?
That's been part of the lore since the beginning though. The first chapter involved the business woman giving up on capitalizing on Yukihara's shop just to continue eating food.Apparently the only one with the capability to lie with regards to food is Erina.

By the way, that was how the manga chapter ended as wel.

Watched 18 episodes of the first season, and wow really surprised at how good and enjoyable this show really is. Nice to see a shonen where the stakes aren't "world-ending" big, and more personal for characters motivation and growth. And i gotta mention Souma and his dad's relationship gotta be the best i have seen in a shonen series. They are so damn enjoyable to watch on screen arguing about which of their worst dish was worst then the other, and how his dad prepares him for future challenges through their food-battles.
-
The only 2 good thing I can say is that I'm glad that the author didn't drag out the first test and that they actually procure their own salmon instead of using the shitty one.
Thank god i don't have to see old lady eizan again.
Central has all the power to do what they want to with the rebels. They can easily fail the rebel for not following the recipe. But the "food is too good to resist" strike again. -
Finished the first season. What chapter should i start reading the manga from?
-
Don't worry, well se the shitty salmon again, they most likely set it up for latter use, but with the proper aging and stuff.
-
-
Finished the first season. What chapter should i start reading the manga from?
The anime stop at chapter 60. But there is a small part of the chapter that wasn't included in the anime. You can start from there.
-
All aboard the shipping train, we're going for a ride.
-
Where is Hayama?!
I wanna see him fail!!!
-
-
On chapter 126, and damn it this is soooo fucking exciting. I am legitly both at the edge of my seat and dripping with excitement over what Alice and Souma are planning.
-
I hope they don't forget about Megumi and meaty now that Erina has joined the harem
-
Haha Meat was forgotten long ago, even childhood friend has a better chance than her
-
Haha Meat was forgotten long ago, even childhood friend has a better chance than her
That's harsh on Mikumi. I mean granted she never had a chance, but she's the harem founder.
-
If Megumi and Meat can't have Souma then they can at least have each other~
-
Oh, it's meat girl! Wonder how they did this.
-
Why the hecky would you not postpone this test when there's an effing blizzard out there. There's students out there that they actually care about, right? Or is this guy especially loony.
-
"GLORY BE TO CENTRAL!"
*Take a sip of wine
*Send 15 year old kids out into a blizzard on their own
*Take a single bite of an apple to be an asshole
*Push a passing kid off his bike
*Take that kid's lunch money and spend it on cigarettes.
*Plant the cigarette carton on the kid so he gets in trouble
*Kick puppy
*Pray toDioAzami -
Hail Hydra
-
I didn't know that Central planned to murder off the rebels by making them freeze to death in the blizzard. It's so hilariously tragic. Gotta love how Soma is "Who want to do it?'
So, what's next? The 3rd examiner is going to barred them from going out to procure ingredients completely? It's only the second phase but damn it's ridiculously repetitive. This is the kind of scenario where Saitama or Saiki would make fun of the examiner for his stupidity.
The scene with demon teacher Erina is funny though. -
The third examiner is just gonna shoot them with a gun at this rate.
