Shut down all the restaurants they don't approve of?
I like Soma, but that's borderline Air Gear.

At least with Sns, if you ignore Azami, it still has the essence of the series.
As for Air Gear, I think I stop reading it when Obama start showing up and the regalia bullcrap went full blown…
If "Aw shucks" Soma doesn't lose this fight, this series can go straight to hell.
Thankfully shounen law demands this.
And here I thought this series was not surreal. Also, Tsukasa's necktie is dumb. Who the hell wears a stripped necktie?
Its high fashion.

On an unrelated note, the shinomiya spin-off seem to be still ongoing. I thought it got canned or something…
I read up till chapter 13 (chinese scan) and it's kinda formulatic...And really really bland. Shinomiya is like the only character you can actually care for. He's also quite boring truth to be told...
Stories where you can only care for the main character with interchangeable forgettable side characters can only sustain my interest for so long... But it's a quick read.
The spinoff is also canon so it end up affecting my view on shinomiya.
! After Shinomiya left Herve's place, he got himself a job in one of the restaurants managed by the rich businessman. There he met this young boy named Albert Leroy who kinda suck at cooking.Albert got the job through his mom or something… Albert got fired eventually and he asked Shinomiya to teach him how to cook so he continue his job in the restaurant. Shinomiya being all tsun tsun reluctantly agree to help him after a while.
! Turn out Albert has a sob story. His mom is a horrible neglectant parent who spend most of her time drinking with men than taking care of her 3 children. So, Albert has to shoulder the responsibility of taking care of his siblings. Eventually, his cooking improve enough that he got his job back. Meanwhile, Shinomiya is thinking about leaving his current job because his cooking doesn't seem to be improving and he want to learn more. Blah blah
! So he left his job. Alber also decided to leave to join him and become Shinomiya's "cute annoying" side kick. When they were at the train station, they met up with the wine lady who like Shinomiya's cooking from chapter 3. They end up in a farm doing labour work for a granny. This granny is an excellent vegetable farmer. Her products are of high quality. Wine lady wants her to grow some kind of bellpepper(?) but granny refuse. So, Shinomiya is needed to convince granny to grow that bellpepper in exchange for getting into this prestigious food place or something.
Turn out granny also has a sob story involving japanese people which is why she doesn't want to grow that bellpepper! That will be covered in the next chapter...

Its the incarnation of Madara, and Azami has infused part of his soul onto it.

Where is it ongoing at? I only see 6 chapters on batato.
I'm reading the chinese scan. Hence, the spoiler tag. You're not missing much, trust me. It really is not that great…
Was I the only one who thought he was going to behead the deer next page? :ninja:
Nope, I thought he was going to slit its throat or something.

Damn Uchihas plaguing another story
It would be funny if the first seat suddenly exclaimed about a tiny imperfection in his dish,
lost heart, and called off the match. So fragile.
when Obama start showing up.
That was hilarious.
I really enjoyed Air Gear, because it never really strayed from the reason I picked it up.
Action on rollerblades… I just really liked that concept, and didn't care about much else.
Not the Pirate Summit again!
RIP Shinomiya.
Last time someone praised Soma, he lost. At least he'll join central. That's interesting, I guess.
I'm legitimately suprised that people still don't know how Soma works. After the AE and Eizan's shokugeki, people are still suprised at his eccentric and unpredictable cooking style. Even if Tsukasa doesn't care all that much, he should know how Soma cook by now.=.=
Speaking of Shinomiya, I wonder how much longer he will remain in Japan… Shino Paris is obviously closed as both him and his sous chef are in the Tokyo branch. And Abel is supposed to be the head chef for the Tokyo branch. Shinomiya is going to have to go back eventually...

To know someone is eccentric doesn't prevent you to get surprised for his next eccentricity. Those are 2 different things.

I should have worded my sentence better.
Tsukasa seem genuinely suprised that Soma is an unpredictable chef and is even doubting whether his dish works. For those who know how Soma work, despite the odd combination, his dish will taste good. Maybe it's just the usual cockiness of Soma's opponent… shrug

Ok. Well, the central still believes Soma is a third level lucky cook.
And the winner is… http://readms.com/r/shokugeki_no_souma/165/3389/1
! It's said in the title, isn't it?

! find out next time on dragon ball z
What an absolute cocktease!! Reminds me of that once chapter against Shinomiya which ended by having a sparkly light cover up Megumi's dish so we couldn't see. Makes you wanna flip the table!
well we already know who won really ,so the cliffhanger is kinda useless
I'm guessing nobody. They probably both chose the opposite dish.
I hope Soma wins so that this arc is shorter.
We all want Azami to be gone asap but Soma's winning is just terrible writing…
But then again, this arc has mainly been about terible writing...so it fits.
I share the sentiment, but the winner is dead set.
I share the sentiment, but the winner is dead set.
I just wanted to do a coffee reference.
The girls pick soma and sukasa goes crazy and shit while azami suffers with soma doing stupid shit using the first seat to teach "homeless grill French style" and makes him try the tentacles claiming that its his father's recipes.
From what the decision will be base on i think the current number one is the winner. I think he utilized he brought out the ingredients flavor more (this is base off the reaction and comments by the two judges)
Not a fan of the conclusion.
Well that was a waste of everyone's time.
! Okay I'd given the author the benefit of doubt for a while now but this arc was trash garbage. What an absolute waste of time the past volume worth of content has been
Korean or whatever non-english scan plz?
The English chapter can be seen on Mangamint:
Damn. Go Megumi.
i hope new arc will bring the old feeling back.
Yeah this arc has just been a disaster:
-Even in a series that is filled with ridiculousness, Azami's takeover and "plan" continues to make no sense
-We've never really focused on all the different societies, so readers don't really care about them being destroyed
-Erina became a boring annoying princess to be saved (though she may be out of it now?)
-We were JUST introduced to the interesting Elite 10, why focus on super boring 2nd year characters?
-Soma vs. 1st seat battle happens but ends predictably with NO consequences whatsoever
What was the point of this arc?
Maybe next arc will actually have some of the cast getting kicked out. Wouldn't that be refreshing, if there was fucking consequences in this "Most elite and competitive cooking school?" Or are we going to pussy out and have the entire cast make it to the end.
An American series would have had a few of the characters gone now. Yeesh.
i hope new arc will bring the old feeling back.
Well, it seems it will be about Azami's genius counterattack

Under Azami's system, nobody will get expelled…
Even if they were still under the old system, the first year main cast all highly skilled and are the jewel generation. Expulsion won't happen until they are into their third year...
Tad bit disappointed the author went with the safest route for the match. Soma is so plot armour, he never pays for his reckless action...But Tsukasa's reasoning for letting Soma off the hook is acceptable enough...
That Jewels generation is a bullshit excuse for the author to have all the characters pass in a school where only 1% of the kids graduate. He is already backtracking on the premise HE SET UP in the series. Characters need to start getting expelled, their needs to be CONSEQUENCES, THREATS, FEAR. Better authors would have at least kicked some of the second tier characters to the curb by now, give us a sense that ya, these kids are fighting for their futures.
It's horseshit through and through.
Well, it seems it will be about Azami's genius counterattack
Everything from now on will have Azami in it anyway,so i am not bothering about that any more..
Oh, Souma lost. Hooray. But you know, given the 2nd chapter of this series, are we supposed to believe that Erina is a fair judge? huehehehehehe
… so you're telling me that Megumi's fight was off-paneled... BLASPHEMY
Yeah, i know, for author to skip Megumi's shokugeki is such a waste. Because you know, for me, the best shokugeki second to Souma vs. Alice is Shokugeki with Megumi in it.
Well that was one big disappointment. Such a cop out..
I thought it was obvious it was going to be a "cop out" no matter what.
It wasn't a official Shokugeki so there was no way to really reinforce the bet. I think it's fine that Soma didn't really win or lose. Bit it gave both opponents something to think about.
the decision was easy to predict, thus the cliffhanger was a bit useless..either way, good to see some of the side characters getting some spotlight
I am not mad that they skipped a Shokugeki or two.
