Don't really know. It comes packaged w/ the game on a slip of paper w/ the code, hence the "Day 1 DLC". You COULD always check out your local Gamestop and see if they left the dlc slip in one of the empty display cases. I have seen them do that before. But since it's been a good while since the game came out, that might be a fruitless venture. Regardless, hope you're able to get the dlc you want. OP: UWRed is the first game I EVER decided to buy the dlc for, and I don't regret it, the Prestige Pack bought me around an extra 20 hours of gameplay. XD

I'm confused about the DLC as well. I'm playing the PS3 version and if I go into the DLC store, I see the season pass for about £25 and then a single piece of costume DLC for about £2. Normally season passes just entitle you to all/most of the DLC that comes out afterwards, the DLC is still buyable separately. This makes it look like they put a season pass up for sale but then only released one very cheap piece of DLC. I wouldn't expect them to leave it on the store, though, if that was the case, so I'm guessing that all the DLC is just in one bundle and that's the confusingly titled season pass, right?

On a different note, what quests have differing daily rewards? Is it just the balloon one?

So you get all Costumes except the 15th Anniversairy Ones in Season Pass. I haven't used my 3DS for at least 2 years now so I can't remember myself, but apparently:

From the HOME Menu, select the Nintendo eShop icon.
Select "Settings / Other," then select "Redeem Download Code."
Tap the box that says, "Enter a download code."

Sorry to double post but I just want to bump this up again because I have a question. If you buy the Vita version with the Day One DLC, do you also get the DLC on PS3? I know the other DLC is cross-buy, I'm just not sure about it in this case and one of the main reasons I want the Vita version is for the DLC to unlock on the PS3 version that I already have (a pre-owned copy).

It's a totally different type of game from Pirate Warriors. Well, it's still an action game, obviously, but it's more like a Monster Hunter kind of game in the sense that you collect items that enemies drop as well as things you find in the environments in order to upgrade your characters, upgrade their abilities and upgrade a town by building new shops and facilities and upgrading them. It has a more RPG feel in that way. In fact, if you've ever played Dark Cloud/Dark Chronicle on the PS2, it's quite a lot like that.

And yeah, as the other poster said, $14 is nothing - even if the game wasn't that great it would be worth it. I think $12 is about £8 and that would barely buy two pints of beer or one cinema ticket. I've been playing this game for about 40 hours so far and enjoying all of it.

I've not played the Musou franchise yet so I can't compare them properly, but I've been a fan of the Unlimited series since Unlimited Adventure.

Main cons:

Characters have very limited movesets
No longer able to switch between the entire crew (limited to 3 members)
Item farming (for development) may feel tedious, especially for rare creatures
The Strawhats (and Ace for a very short portion) are the only playable characters in the main story
Even amongst the playable characters in the Battle Coliseum, the amount might feel unsatisfactory

Main pros:

An adventurous sense not seen in any other One Piece game; you're able to explore the environments freely, discover secret areas, find treasure chests and so on
Character interaction and dialogue feel great, with the type of humour that wouldn't feel out of place in the main series
The large amount of quests should keep you busy for a while
Battle Coliseum mode provides even more options to sink in more play hours

Neutral for me, but might affect your opinion:

Strong Word system seems similar to the coin system in Pirate Warriors (from what I've seen of it); Strong Words use quotes from the main series that could inflict nostalgia
Bug Catching and Fishing; some people find it tedious and others find it a nice change of pace
The combat system is built around dodging and striking at opportune moments, rather than the blitzing through masses of enemies like the Pirate Warriors series. Not necessarily bad, just different

Personally, I prefer Unlimited Cruise, but this game isn't bad either for a handheld game.

I'd add it to the stockpile. It's definitely an experience if nothing else, and better to buy it now than later at regular price.

You should after the PW Games imo the best One Piece Game and a lot better than Unlimited Cruise but I guess this Games didn't came out in the US. Give it a try it has a very cool Original Character

Sorry to boost up an old thread but Unlimited World red is going on sale for europe next week on wii u and 3ds and i was just wondering whether it was a title worth getting. I enjoyed the cruise series for what they were. I had number 1 on 3ds and number 2 on the wii and i preferred the wii game so i will probably get if for wii U (it will be £10). Is it any good though?

As a fan of the Unlimited series, I think it's quite a step down from Cruise. Then again, that's to be expected when you go from a Wii game to a 3DS game. (I don't think the Wii version adds anything substantial for World Red)
The sense of adventure is still there, and it's nice to be able to explore some of the One Piece islands from the main story, but the maps are a bit smaller and there's less to do (no treasure maps or anything similar).
For the action, the Strawhats's movesets have become very limited. The fighting really isn't much fun here. Robin is especially hard to use especially against bosses. The Strong Word system helps to mix things up a bit, but it'd take a super die hard fan to recognise all the quotes.
Post game content is ok. The quests can be quite fun sometimes, but a lot of it is just fighting, which is again, the least satisfactory part of Unlimited games. The rest are collection quests.
The main antagonist is intriguing, but the story itself is really just another excuse to fight past opponents. Which is fine for me.
The colosseum mode is fun, but not for long consecutive hours.
You can't explore Sunny in this game.

All in all, I'd say you should only buy it if a) it's cheap or b) you're a completionist type of fan.

I'm waiting for the next game. Hoping it's much better than this.

That's great news, although I think it might seem dated now in terms of it being based on the series several years ago. Though it does at least have an original plot so it's not as obvious.

I hope its more than just a port with all the DLC, I hope they can fix up the gameplay or hub world up a bit (I don't have anything specific, haven't played it in a long while, but I remember it being a bit tedious and boring)

Also I hope theres new characters for the colosseum, Dogstorm, Catviper, Jack, Carrot, Pedro, Capone, Cracker maybe even the Vinsmokes or Big Mom. At least make some of the unplayable bosses playable

Nevermind the characters from Whole Cake, they need to complete the Dressrosa characters! Graphical upgrade and all DLC is promising, new costumes seem more likely before new characters.

I wish they would just make a new game instead of re-releasing a game from 4 years ago. Since that's not happening atm I hope they at least fix the terrible split screen the PS3 had.

Praying for localization. Would be great to finally use my Switch for something. Maybe this means one of the next games will be a new "unlimited" installment? One can dream. Unlimited cruise 1/2 were wonderful.

eh. I think this is something I may pick up for the Switch if there's enough new content, a few new characters and such. The Wii U version of the game was one of the more difficult games to get for the console.

I enjoyed the game, but I don't know if I'd double dip when I eventually get a Switch. It would depend on what they added beyond bundling all the DLC together. My reasonable expectations wishlist would be to add a proper Dressrosa area as well as a Zo one, along with Bartolomeo, Cavendish, Sabo, the three executives (Pica could be implemented as a background enemy like Enel was), Carrot, Nekomamushi and Inuarashi (they could tag in and out as you fought them), and maybe Jack to give Zo another boss. At minimum they could just throw some of those characters into the colosseum mode.

Frustrating that Europe is the only one that has a physical release. Any recommendations where to buy from for US delivery since the Switch is backwards compatible? I’d get it digitally, but the Switch only has 30GB and this game is 10.

The physical Japanese release on Switch has English language support, but I'm trying to figure out if the physical Japanese release on PS4 does as well. If so, I'd like to import it.

So I’ve been playing this after all, and it’s a bummer how they don’t let you play as all the characters in the coliseum. No idea why either. Some seem perfectly playable (Hordy, MiHawk, Aokiji, Kizaru, etc.). And the main story is just as clunky and rigidly level-based as I remember. Man these maps are bland. I really miss the old Unlimited games…
