I finished watching Z some minutes ago and sum up my thoughts:
! The start of the movie was a little bit unexpected, I thought the scene of Kizaru and Z fighting from the trailer would be in the middle or the end of the movie, not at the beginning. The opening, which came afterwards, foreshadowed a little bit to much about the movie in my opinion, altough I liked the style very much, especilly the colorscheme (the colors reminded me of the infamous James Bond title sequence). The next surprising fact was the meeting between Z and the Straw Hats, because I would've never guessed, that the former marine is safed by the SHs. I really liked how Chopper pretended to be Z with his milkbottle, even though I wonder how he knew what Zs fightingstyle looked like. Chopper, the Strawhat who is like a child the most, played superhero like Z used to do, when he was a kid. Z going wild on the Sunny after hearing he's on a pirateship and the attack on said ship was truly emotional, the scene is one of my favorite ones from the movie.
Turning Robin and Chopper younger didn't really make sense to me, nor it had much effect on the plot. They hardly changed and Robin seemed mostly fanservice, Brooks deaging was at least funny, because he maked the biggest fuss about it, despite the fact, that there's no difference between a 90 and a 78 years old skeleton.
I wish my japanese would be better, so I could've understood what the pirate with the wide mouth told the SH. Anyway, the bathhouse scene is another of my favorites. Kuzan simply sleeps behind the boys for 5 minutes and everyone, except Brook, fell out of their bathtube, when he finally woke up. Watching the trailer, I thought they noticed Kuzan immediately as they entered the room.
The Armani stuff looked great on Sanji, okay on Zorro and out of place on Luffy, at least a red shirt would fit him better than a blue one. The stuff Robin and Brook wore fit their usual appereance.
Z taking Luffys hat away was kinda obvious since the scene where the hat blows away, but it made a nice climax in the end. Again, I wish, I would've been able to understand more of the dialouge, but hopes are still up, that the movie gets realised here, so I simply wait. The ending of this movie was better, than Strong World, because Luffy wasn't able to beat Zephyr like he was able to beat Shiki. Kizaru got some more great fight scenes, Kuzan even better screentime, just Akainu ended up being hardly shown at all. I know, that they didn't want show Akainus face in order to not reveal too much in the movie, but stillā¦ wasn't he speaking via screen to marines in that scene? Why did they just show his torso and not his face to the marines (and so to the audience, too) ? Doesn't the marine have better cameramans for an admirals' speech?
! The animations were simply amazing. The fight-scenes reminded me of the One Piece video games the whole time, at first, when Z and his two students finished the marines off and second, during the last fight against the strawhats. 3D and 2D flowed really nice in together, but the cut of the movie was overall well done.
! There are also a few things I disliked, Frankys clothes for example. Another thing that bothered me, were the white Kumas, they only appeared for five minutes to be crushed by Franky. They were just extremly unrelevant.
And there's one question I have about the movieā¦
! How got Zephyr his right arm back ?
