There's gameplay in the trailer and it's all in-game so I consider it a gameplay trailer personally, it's a cinematic trailer that doesn't break down the games actual mechanics yeah.
The Witcher 3

-
I almost want to upgrade my pc for that game… too bad that that's not in the budget.
-
Oh my God! I have been waiting for something a little bit more than they've shown us. This looks amazing.
Dissapointed that Yennefer doesn't look like she was described but fuck it I hate that bitch so I don't care BUT Ciri!! Oh my God. And Emhyr just looks wow!.
Oh and I saw Letho in that quick all Witchers shot. Stoked that it looks like Vessmir will play a large part this time around.
All the Monsters look amazing.
-
I hope there is more monster hunting. I think they said they were focusing on it too. Having lots of monsters to hunt that follow the same way of hunting as the first boss did in TW2 would be pretty cool.
Still need to finish the first game.
-
This game looks cool. Will I need to play the first two games to understand what is going on in this one?
-
No you won't but I highly reccomend that you do. They're both great games in my opinion.
Oh and Noon Wraiths are back! By far my favorite monsters in the game.
-
Well, you should. You probably won't be completely lost but the game will be much better if you actually know who all of these characters are beforehand and I'm sure there will be a lot of references. TW2 should be cheap on the 360 if you don't have a good PC. 1 and 2 are $30 on GoG and the same price on Steam (which will also get you a GoG key for both) but there will probably be a sale on them before this game is released. If you get them (or probably only TW2) on PC you can import your save(s) and get a discount on the digital version of TW3.
-
Play the games then read the books (there are fan translations)
-

Hopefully if that's the case they'll do something with the QTE's.
-
Like get rid of them. I think there was something about that actually. There will be precise strikes that will work on certain monsters, which I assume will use something close to MGR's blade mode, but I don't think there will be giant QTE's like that boss.
-
Why it isn't February 2015 yet? I can't wait this long.
-
Welp, people are pissed off at CD Projekt Red and are canceling preorders over something silly… but something they see as betrayal.
They just announced that the Xbone version of the Collector's Edition will feature two exclusive physical items, a cloth map and two decks of card. The price of the CE on Xbone is the same as on the PS4 and PC. People think it's bullshit that they're giving Microsoft "more" and making people pay for "less" on PC and PS4.
I dunno what people are more pissed at, the fact they're paying the same price but are getting less or the fact CPR made ANY form of exclusivity deal with Microsoft.
-
It is shitty. It deserves to be criticized. I wasn't going to buy the collectors edition anyway but not only did they say that all platforms would be treated equally but having exclusive physical items for one platform while keeping it the same price and (I assume) not making them available for separate purchase is an all around shitty thing to do. CDPR have been making some questionable choices lately and it's kind of worrying.
That being said this was probably forced on them. I know that Gamestop will a lot of the time refuse to sell a game if you don't have preorder incentives and stuff so maybe Microsoft did the same thing and said they're not going to allow the game on their system without special treatment and so CDPR put a few extra physical things rather than add exclusive game content, which I'll admit is admirable if that's how it went down. The gaming industry is a steaming cesspool. I wish someone would stand up and just tell people who force this kind of thing to fuck off. That would require losing sales most likely though, but I doubt Microsoft if in a position to do something like this and if they really were the reason for this they were most likely bluffing and CDPR didn't call it.
-
collector's editions are for dummies with no concept of value
-
This game looks cool. Will I need to play the first two games to understand what is going on in this one?
go to gog.com. they are the same company and often give big discounts on witcher 1&2 (6 euro for both at the moment)

Official statement from CDPR.
Looking at the heated comments, I believe that our announcement of the physical addition of two decks of Gwent cards and a cloth map, requires a further word from us.
Here at CD Projekt Red, we always put gamers first. Our PC versions are released DRM-free, we bend over backwards to give you the most beefed up editions of our games (be it standard or Collector's), and we deliver the same game, regardless of platform or version you buy. Moreover, we promised not have any exclusive DLCs, neither per platform nor per retailer, and we do stand by our promise–nothing has changed, nor will change in this regard.
Don't get me wrong, I do understand that these extra items might be desirable for Witcher fans playing the game on other platforms. However, as we are not offering any platform or retail exclusive DLCs or any other form of gameplay differentiation, we do have to find other ways to support our partners. We are also providing special pre-order items for certain retailers around the world, including Witcher comic books, posters, steel books or medallions. Funnily enough, we did not notice any heated comments on the pre-order specials.
What is the reason? Why are we doing this? We need the support of partners to make our game visible worldwide. This should hopefully translate to better sales, which will in consequence allow us to do what we have been doing for the last 10 years, i.e. reinvest this money to make more great RPGs, while still sticking to our values.
If you still consider that adding two decks of Gwent cards and a map of the in-game world to the Xbox One CE equals us betraying our values and not fulfilling our promises, well, it does make us sad, but the final call is always yours to make.
Still, I do hope that what we offer is unique and we can ask you to give us the benefit of the doubt. We have more great things to announce for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt in the coming months and I promise you won't be disappointed (yes, yes, there are no more exclusives coming).

Could you list the other questionable choices?

Official statement from CDPR.
Why does "supporting our partners" require adding extra stuff to the Xbone edition? It does sound like they're forced to because Microsoft is being childish. This is a very vague statement and doesn't satisfy me.
Could you list the other questionable choices?
They were experimenting with global illumination and removed it for "platform parity", essentially saying that they're holding back their game because of the consoles. Perhaps I was exaggerating by saying choicess but there are still two things that don't really put them in a good light in my eyes.
-
But really there is no other way to support your partners in this industry. If they want to have some kind of deal with anyone they have to provide something too beside the game. And as they are unwilling (and rightfully so) to compromise on the software side of things I find it much better to include a physical item with the game. I mean if somebody really wants those items (and I can't imagine why) they just have to find someone who would only buy the normal xbone game and pay for the upgrade to the collectors edition.
I really am fine with the physical differentiation between versions as long as the thing I buy it for (the software) is the same. -
It's nothing major and their track record has been mostly flawless so far, or you could just say they are good at PR like valve. Wait until they do something big like that time GOG allowing geo-pricing (although they had to reverse that because of the PR backlash).
Hoping that the gameplay uses manual aiming a la DS or TES rather than fixed target selecting like TW2 did. It certainly looked that way from the trailer.
-
They do allow geo-pricing but give you credit at gog.com for the price you pay more than the cheapest price.

35 minute demo:
Looks really impressive.

The Witcher 3 is adding another playable character
! Ciri

-
Damn those requirements are not holding back… I guess I have to admit my defeat and get it to PS4, my PC barely passes minimum requirements and I would hate to suffer low FPS and butchered graphics
-
I'm just below recommended specs, so I figure I should be good.
-
My PC…barely is above the minimum in regards to the processor.
By the time I actually get the game anyway I'll probably have a new one anyway (since I definitely won't get it at release).
-
Exaggerated. They're just a bit higher than MGSV:GZ's requirements and that game scales pretty well to hardware lower than its minimum requirements. System requirements are more or less useless these days because they're not standardized and are a lot of the time inflated.
-
hrmm nvidia GTX 770 which for all purposes is a rebranded 680, but requires an AMD R9 290? Not the rough equivalent of 7970/280x? Probably optimisation i guess…
and yeah below the minimum specs are generally playable, just at that point you'd be playing very low settings. It'd be playable, just not a particularly decent experience.
-
Well only thing I'm short of recommended settings on is my gfx card. Rest is above rec was planning on upgrading anyway so what better reason than Witcher 3
-
WoW did not expect my PC being almost on the recommended spec level. Was expecting to be right in the middle.
The graphics card is pretty much the only thing that's behind.I guess I can keep with the usual MO of getting a new PC when a new Elder Scrolls hits.

-
It's been a while since I updated this thread, but I figured this video would be something people were interested in. It has Charles Dance talk about his first video game role as Emperor Emhyr in Witcher 3.
-
I'm a tiny bit over the recommended, have a GTX 770m and 16 gig ram so hopefully everything will run well.
-
I don't know what the requirements are offhand but generally mobile cards aren't officially supported. And a 770m isn't the same as a 770.
-
Crap, I need a new computer.
-
770m should be equal to a desktop 660 or so, so it should be fine.
As long as your computer has a half decent cpu + gpu it'll be fine. Won't look that great but it will run fine.
-
I am sorry if this sounds basic, but a drop of..say 5 fps, is noticeable?
-
depends honestly. If you are constantly 5 fps lower than on another card you will not notice it in everday use and only with dificulty in a comparison. but dips of 5 fps can already be a noticed easily. You can even notice if a single frame is delayed a bit much (mircostutter) so 5 fps would be a frame being delayed by about 80 ms which is quite easily noticeable.
-
I am sorry if this sounds basic, but a drop of..say 5 fps, is noticeable?
In console ranges (15-60 fps) drop is quite significant and quite easily noticed during game play. From 60-120 fps ranges its almost impossible to notice unless in very specific scenarios. There IS a difference between 70 and 120 fps game play but unless there is large fluctuation between two its rather hard to notice easily.
But under 40 fps range every frame counts.
-
Never played a Witcher game before… Can someone tell me a bit about it.
I dunno if I should buy it
-
If you love open world RPGs, this game is for you. I would suggest that you first play Witcher 2.
-
Never played a Witcher game before… Can someone tell me a bit about it.
I dunno if I should buy it
A dark fantasy where you play as a Witcher, a professional monster slayer, who's considered a relic and freak in the current age. As such, a lot of quests given revolve around dealing with monsters in some fashion ranging from fetching monster parts to investigating a monster's lair, its weaknesses, and if intelligent, whether the monster should be killed. The fantasy of the world generally draws more on slavic influences than stuff like Lord of the Rings. The story also frequently involves kings and nations in a well-done web of motivations and intrigue. The choices made tend to be of the kind where the consequences are uncertain and both are generally unappealing in some form.
The gameplay in Witcher 3 is open-world as Leon mentioned as an action-rpg. If it's like Witcher 2 to a point, you have three level branches for swordsmanship, signs(magic), and alchemy. Signs tend to be simple like fire spry and air blasts. Alchemy is used to focus more on making oils and potions which enhance your ability to fight. The tree also may increase the damage bombs and traps do.
Let me know if you want Witcher 1 and 2 spoiled. It's difficult since Witcher 1 is PC only, Witcher 2 is PC and 360 only, and Witcher 3 is coming out on PS4 and Xbox One.
Both games are also on sale on GOG.com right now if you can play them. The first Witcher in particular shouldn't be too demanding though it is fairly different from the other two Witchers. Think single-player KOTOR if you've played that. In fact, to put it simply, the games take obvious influence from Bioware games.
Witcher 1 ($1.49): http://www.gog.com/game/the_witcher
Witcher 2 ($2.99): http://www.gog.com/game/the_witcher_2 -
Thank you at both of you… And yeah I would love to get 1 and 2 spoiled.
Still a bit uncertail abaout getting it... But there is nothing else left form me to get. FF X has been played by me to death...
Hearing it getting praised a lot is of course getting me interested.

Witcher 1:
! You start out as Geralt who has lost his memory. You're treated by fellow Witchers and sorceress, Triss Merigold. Then, you'll are attacked by a group called Salamandra who steals your mutagens and kills one of your friends, a witcher-in-training.
! As you chase after them, a large conflict is erupting in the capital between the Scoia'tael and the Order of the Flaming Rose. The scoia'tael claim to be fighting for the rights of non-humans, but kill many innocents, attacking convoys, etc. The order of the flaming rose is an order dedicated to fighting monsters and nonhumans. As you go through the story, you must often choose who you side with or remain neutral in the conflict.
! At the end of the game, you defeat the grandmaster of the Order who stole your mutagens and was behind Salamandra. Before you can kill him, the king of the wild hunt appears to try and take him (He appears a bit throughout the story as well.). You then choose to let him take the grandmaster or fight him yourself.
! After that, Geralt receives a reward for helping the city out by killing the grandmaster. As he's leaving, an assassin sneaks in and tries to kill King Foltest. Geralt stops him from doing so and later figures out he was a witcher.Witcher 2:
! After the assassination attempt, Foltest(King of Temeria) now keeps Geralt around as a bodyguard. At the end of a siege of the La' Valletes, Foltest is killed by another assassin who promptly flees leaving Geralt seen as being responsible for the assassination.
! Once in captivity, Vernon Roche interrogates Geralt and learns that the assassin was in fact who Geralt said with Scoia'tael help. He assists Geralt escaping prison in exchange for Geralt helping him capture the kingslayer.
! They reach Flotsam where they run into Iorveth, who assisted the assassin to kill Foltest. They also run into Sile, a sorceress there who says she's there to collect ingredients and kill the kraken. Ultimately, Geralt and Roche try and figure out how they can get the assassin there while also dealing with the corrupt, local government with the man leading it called Loredo.
! Eventually, Geralt learns the assassin is planning on double-crossing the scoia'tael and convinces Iorveth to help him try and capture him. When they try, the force from Loredo's intervens and tries to kill both Iorveth and the assassin. Geralt fights the assassin who identifies himself as Letho who knew Geralt before he lost his memory. After Geralt loses, he takes Triss in order to make a portal he can use to escape.
! Geralt must then choose to go with Iorveth and chase after the kingslayer or go with Roche and take care of Loredo first. Whichever decision is chosen leads to a completely different act II.
! (Act II - Iorveth)
Geralt and Iorveth arrive in Aedern where the talks between King Henselt(of Kaedwen), Saskia the Dragonslayer(A rebel leader of Aedern), and Prince Stennis(of Aedern) are in talks before war starts out. Talk goes bad and Geralt and Iorveth help Saskia and Stennis get to Mahakam (Dwarf city) located in upper Aedern after a curse causes a deadly fog to show up between the Kaedwen and Aedern camps.
! While there, Saskia ends up getting poisoned, so Geralt must focus on finding ingredients for Phillipa (a sorceress helping Saskia) and getting rid of the fog. He also eventually has to choose whether to let the mob kill Stennis or to protect him.
! Once Saskia is cured, Geralt and the rest there fight in a battle against Kaedwen that they win. They also learn that Saskia did not actually kill a dragon, but Saskia herself is the dragon. After the battle, Saskia and Phillipa leave for the King's meet (meeting of kings) and learn Phillipa used the ingredients not only to cure Saskia, but to put her under her control. Geralt and Iorveth hurry to the King's meet to save Triss, save Saskia, and kill the kingslayer.
! (Act II - Roche (haven't played it, so not too familiar with the details))
Same as Iorveth's beginning except helping Henselt.
! Geralt and Roche help Henselt and plan on how to get rid of the fog. In doing so, they also defend Henselt from any assassination attemps which ends up with Geralt killing two of the Witcher assassins.
! Later on, Roche's squad is killed along with one of his squad, Ves, being raped by Henselt in retribution for Roche being a large part of a conspiracy to undermine Kaedwen for Temeria. Henselt eventually takes over Aedern after crushing the forces of Mahakam. Geralt eventually faces a decision to kill Henselt or not.
! They also learn of how Henselt's subordinate, Dethmold, has Anais(the bastard daughter of Foltest) who would be in line for the throne of Temeria's. Geralt and Roche go the King's meet to rescue Anais, Triss, and kill the kingslayer.
! (Both routes)
Geralt learns of how the King's meet plans on dividing Temeria as well as how the Sorceress's Lodge plans on making an independent country for them using Saskia as well as re-establishing the conclave of mages.
! (Act III - Partly differs depending on if you're doing Iorveth's or Roche's path)
(Roche)
When getting there, you must make a decision to either save Anais or Triss. If you choose Anais, you have the choice to give her to Natalis(Temeria's general) or Radovid(King of Redania). If given to Natalis, Temeria remains an independent country. If given to Radovid, Redania absorbs Temria in order to avoid inner-conflict in Temeria.
! (Iorveth)
You must make a choice to save Saskia or Triss. If you choose Saskia, you get a magic dagger from Phillipa who was blinded by Radovid(she was the sorceress advisor there) to cure Saskia from mind control. Temeria is later split between Redania and Kaedwen.
! (Both)
If you didn't save Triss, a witch hunt is ensued in all the North. If you did save her, the blame is put on the Sorceress lodge. This is due to them being the ones who hired Letho to kill King Demavend(of Aedern before game events). After things go bad for the lodge, Sile uses the mind control over Saskia to try and kill everyone at the king's meet. You defeat her and her fate depends on if you got the dagger or if not, you choose to kill her or spare her.
! Eventually, you confront Letho who saved Triss if you didn't. You learn he actually helped you before in tracking down the Wild hunt and taking care of Yennefer(your love before you lost your memory). He tells you how he was hired by Niilfgard(the empire in the south) to cause chaos in the North by killing the kings to soften it up for invasion. In exchange, the emperor of Niilfgard, Emhyr, will start back up the witcher school of the viper, so witchers can be trained again as well as the current ones returning. You then have to decide whether to let him go or kill him.
! Epilogue: Changes based on what choices you chose. No matter what, it shows Niilfgard's invasion into the north. For Witcher 2, this page also has some good articles going over different aspects. http://knightofphoenix.tumblr.com/witcher

Ok this sounds awesome. I think I will give it a try. Thank you

Also, since the trailer was posted, there was also a hidden image as well.
