They must not like using the term gangbang. Anyway good chapter, I'm liking that demon thing in Toriko. To be honest I am happier it just being a demon thing rather than described for whatever it is. Some mystery should stay in shounen or we have more Bleach. Not that Toriko would ever lose its potential like that.
Toriko II: Ichiryuu's Slimy Insides!!

-
Dang I felt that this was gonna happen , hopefully we get to see a non-stop action kinda a rollercoaster fight from here and then get to the clímax of the food festival.
-
In this manga it is not difficult to find out what the Will of D is about.
-
@Essam:
the demon inside Toriko is nice I like the part talking about Ichiryuu full course if toriko eat them his Gourmet Cells will get a massive upgrade
Oh my! I believe everyone here thought the demon was talking about Acacia's full course. But, hey, what if he was talking about Ichiryuu's? Nice point, really nice point.
Anyway, I really, really hope Joa will cause a ruckus. And I hope he is at Setsuno's level, at least.

I thought he was talking about Ichiryuu's too, it's most likely
-
Toriko and Komatsu should be more manly and less gay.
-
I actually think Joa might be stronger than Setsuno from the way Zaus and her talked about him.
-
On another forum they are discussing whether Joa is a new character or someone we already knew. What do you think?
-
Toriko and Komatsu should be more manly and less gay.
What are you talking about? Cutting women out of your life is the manliest thing you can do.
-
Toriko and Komatsu should be more manly and less gay.
Komatsu is plenty manly. There's nothing more manly than amassing your own bara harem.
-
This is getting ridiculous. Komatsu is beyond weak and the story doesn't want to ever address it. Just looking at gw should kill komatsu. Not too mention the exaggerated distance in tires manga which komatsu shouldn't be able to traverse because he is weak.
-
He may be weak but his mind is strong. He faced Starjun´s intimidation back on JM arc and Morijii encouraged him to go to for the Century Soup.

He nearly died from the surprise of a loud noise…
-
You are saying that as if that loud noise wasn´t the loudest thing ever. It also destroyed his eardrums, can you even imagine how painful is that?
(also guys, avoid quoting me if your post is right under mine…)

Ichir most likely, it's next Toriko upgrade to control his inner demon, Acacia's full course very hard to obtain and I don't think Toriko will wait untill the end of the story to control his Demon

I think is someone new, cause Sestunio know him by name since first cooking context

Sorry I typically quote people because sometimes I get side tracked when posting. And others pop in between that time.
Yeah I'm not saying it wouldn't hurt. But Komatsu is a bunny. I wish he'd at least have been shown in a gym or something from time to time. He wants to go to the GW with Toriko, but he's totally put all the pressure on others to ensure his survival. A super sharp knife is a start…But he's got no other way to protect himself aside from a growing harem and luck. I just wish he would put forth effort in other areas.
-

This thing is beyond interesting, for real! Ichiryuu's full course! Yeah, it could work!
@Essam:

In my opinion Joa is something "new". We didn't see him in face but, in my opinion, he is the Four Beast Mastermind and the one who "cooked" Teppei. And he has some kind of connection with Mohyan Shaishai.
He really could be stronger than Granny Setsu. -
What if Joa is actually Frohze after being revived by eating CENTER? Since he's implied to be someone who has lived a long time, and knows about CENTER, it's possible he could have tasted it in the past but no longer has or lost the means to obtain it (As it was probably Acacia that actually obtained it, not him). Given the backstory we have of Frohze dying in front of his cooking board, it's possible he could have refused to accept death, consumed CENTER as his last meal, and was reborn as Joa.
-
Maybe Joa was Frohze's pupil like Ichiryuu, Jirou and Midora was Acacia's.
But I don't think he is Frohze himself. From Ichiryuu's memory, Frohze and Acacia were really really good guys. -
Frohze actually killed and Accacia and ate a meal that would let him fall into a coma for centuries and was revived younger and stronger so he could acquire others GODS from other planets because he was jealous of Accacia getting all the credit.
-

It could work but it seems to me too much twisted.
I (virtually) bet on Joa being Frohze's pupil/apprentice. -
Okay, question for those who watch the anime?
After reading some of the latest chapters in Shonen Jump and getting somewhat interested despite having limited knowledge of the plot, I decided to check out the latest episodes of the anime. The anime has to be in a filler arc right now, right? Because the past few episodes I watched were boring me to tears and consisted of Toriko and Komatsu going on random adventures to harvest smelly vegetables and other random crap.
If it is filler, how far along is the anime in canon material and how long has it been on fillers for? If it's not filler (which would surprise me), what arc is the anime currently on and how close is the anime to the current ongoing arc in the manga?
-
no, that not filler. this arc is important for introduction of certain ingredient.

I won't answer your question but look, if you want to experience fights full of testosterone between overly muscled men in a world that is all about over exaggerating awesomeness you'll have to read the manga and never think about the utter crap that is the Toriko anime again.
Why ? you might ask, it's because this manga's main point is about wilderness and the sense of threat that the characters/animals give while hunting/fighting/defending themselves. And all of this isn't found in the anime, this same anime was put in a slot so children would watch it to maybe start loving food or something thus toning down the manga to make it somewhat acceptable, and by that i don't mean the removal of blood and replacing human flesh with some grey colored rubber but the fact that you feel it's like some anime where people fight and then they're all shojo with paper planes and carnival costumes.
If you want a comparison imagine Kansas' dust in the Wind that was meant to be deep with the lyrics and the calm/slow tempo with violins and violas in the background and then take the Scorpions' cover that completely ruined the feeling about the song and made it all holly jolly. So yeah, do yourself a favor and forget that abomination, the second opening is just there to lure more people to watch it.

A good thing about the Toriko anime (till now at least) is that u barely get any filler arcs. Outta the 100 episodes out, maybe less than 10 are fillers.
It's hard to just check on the latest episodes without getting involved in the story. It's just like watching Onepiece's Arabasta in the middle; it has some really boring episodes, and watching that first would give u the wrong impression on the anime. On the other hand, if u've watched it since the beginning, maybe u'd've said "that's a nice change of pace and mood". And if u're into Toriko, i bet u'll love those arcs where they just venture around searching for food. Also, the arc is said to have an awesome fight, so i guess it'll be worth the waitThe current arc is the Bubble Fruit arc,,, which is 1 arc away from the current manga arc. The anime is at 'around' chapter 182, while the manga is at 233. So ya, they're pretty close. After this current anime arc, they'll only have one more arc to finish, and then their next one will be where the manga is at.
And lolz. @Sauza… I understand ur frustration, pal,,, but u don't have to discourage people away from the anime like that
Imo, (and that may be just mine), the Toriko anime is brilliant (even more than the manga), does the manga justice (imo), and is my fav anime of all time
Many may feel the same, and it'd be such a waste if they skipped it without trying. Just leave them a chance to judge for themselves
-
Nah, Sauza is completely right. Opinions aside, the anime is not doing justice to the strong points of the manga, all the opposite.
Tho it made more enjoyable some moments, the Dodurian Bomb episode was even more hilarious. Too bad Sunny didn´t foamed from his mouth P:

Well, thanks for the replies. I've already heard that people were displeased with the anime, but I prefer to judge for myself by checking out both the manga and the anime at the same time.
The main thing is that I know the current arc isn't filler. I guess, as you said, jumping into an arc without knowing the plot very well or the characters probably makes it harder. I'll keep watching and reading and I'll make my own decision on whether I'll continue the anime or not once I get to the current manga chapters in the anime eventually so I can really make a comparison of how toned down the anime is. But it's get to get feedback from both opinions, as it helps me understand what the fans overall think of the anime.
-
wouldnt it be easier to read the manga and then watch the anime? then you´d actually know what is filler

That's true I guess.

-
Shuu´s face gets me every time.
-
I think you are right. You are probably the only one with that opinion.
Not the only one KaiPirinha! I am also a big fan of the anime!!
Any anime made from a Shonen manga is a double-edged sword. Yes, it gets toned down in order to secure a prime time TV slot and attract a broader audience (I won't deny that Tina & Kruppoh suck, even the producers know this so they are slowly phasing them out of any cannon storylines). Yes, it often needs to be padded out in order to avoid catching up too quickly to the source material. Yes, the anime VA's don't always nail the emotional intensity of the scenes…........BUT
......what you do get is beautiful ANIMATION, vibrant COLOR & an awesome SOUNDTRACK!!
Just having those 3 things makes the anime an incredibly important part of the fandom and it shouldn't be dismissed so vehemently.
All Shonen Jump anime's have their pitfalls, but imho, I'd put Toriko up their with the Toei Animation greats such as Fist of North Star, Dragon Ball & One Piece!
-
Yup,,, like @kanji_xiii just mentioned,,, beautiful animation, soundtrack, and most fights are really well done and fluid (imo at least). Of course, ya, i get the frustration, cause it could've been better, but again, they prolly thought they had no hope except by targeting kids. I'm no expert in this stuff (total noob
), but maybe they saw how the Ufotable OVA DVD didn't sell, and thought 'kids' is the only hope, thus the extreme censorship. It's cause shamefully, good new stuff isn't as accepted as crappy ecchi is. So ya, i think if they hadn't done that, it would've been canceled a long time ago. (marketing sucks). Still, imo, it's the best anime ever,
and is really well done. Just try to watch with 'enjoyment' in mind, not 'expectation', and u'll see the difference.
-
Most of my rants about the anime are actually because I am an animation student myself. We were trained to notice several things we wouldn´t notice before while watching animation films and cartoons. Unfortunately this means I see lots of things that look bad even on movies and cartoons I love
I still enjoy it nonetheless, and unless it´s a filler episode I will watch it. Actually, today I´m getting back my computer and I intend to download and rewatch the anime. Know any place where I can download the subbed episodes not heavier than 300 mb each? THe sub can be english or spanish.
-

Decent or "good" does not equal best, not by a long shot.
@Skadi
Funimation site if you're in the US, Anime-Destiny otherwise.
Yeah, most of the animation is rather lackluster outside of fights. Characters occasionally have wonky movement or don't move anything other than their mouth and some scenes or animations get reused a lot. It's pretty average. It does manage to faithfully adapt most of the themes of Toriko, but that's about it.
-
@JarmenKell that's why i said "imo"
cause this is purely an opinion.
@Skadi not heavier than 300mb means it'll certainly be 480p
so ya, if u want, u can go with A-Destiny's 480p releases

But you also said it could be better. Ergo not the best, even in your opinion. Or maybe you meant the best possible given the limitations of Saturday TV and Toei's standards?
-
I meant that it could've been better if they kept the gore, but even without, imo, there's no other anime that can compete with 'gore-removed' toriko, save if it had gore
I just can't bring myself to hate anything in it. -
Yeah, I don´t mind the quality, it´s just to watch them. Maybe a marathon :B
Those are subbed by Kewl
Definitely downloading those.
-
I kinda want to catch up with the anime. But I stopped watching around the end of the mellow cola arc.
-
Anyone here collect Toriko figures? I currently have 3 Figuax and Sunny is on it's way:
Excuse the OP backgroundI really like these figures! Shame they don't appear to be making anymore. Starjun got cancelled right?

You should definitely pick it up again. The Shining Gourami arc isn't bad and the Meteor Garlic arc is one of my favorites and well worth watching animated!! It reminds me a bit of Jotaro & gangs card game against Daniel D'Arby in Jojo's Bizarre Adventure!
I'm not a big fan of the bubble fruit arc, but excited for the action at the end. Then Four Beast should be epic!!
-
@kanji_xiii: i'm saving up some money to get them
can't resist those. I don't remember them even announcing a Starjun Figuax… are u sure it got cancelled?

If you haven't started collecting the Figuax yet, I strong suggest you follow this link:
http://global.rakuten.com/en/store/aromacoffee/item/figuax-5/that's all 5 figures for 7,980 (about $80)!!! It's crazy I know!! EMS shipping for all 5 will probably be a bit hefty admittedly, maybe even the same again, but the chance to collect all 5 figures for $160 shipped shouldn't be passed up in my book!!
I only found this the other week and I only have Terry left to get, otherwise I would have totally jumped on this!!
And a prototype of Starjun was shown at WF2012 Winter last year, but we never heard anymore…....sad :
He needs painting and putting on my shelf….NOW!
Maybe I'll send an e-mail to PLEX
-
This Starjun action figure is really amazing!
-
@kanji_xiii: wow! all 5 for 160$? i was just about to buy toriko separately, and his price alone with shipping was (55$). Damn… glad u linked me this
How come it's that cheap in rakuten? (It says they're having a 65% discount. Nice)
Shame. Starjun's figure looks the best. But did they say they cancelled it, or we still have hope? -

Shame. Starjun's figure looks the best. But did they say they cancelled it, or we still have hope?Seems the Figuax line haven't sold that well. Either that or they just made too many. I see them for sale @ Mandarake and Yahoo Auctions Japan for a fraction of their retail price.
I really hope it's no reflection on the shows popularity, although it doesn't seem Toriko is as big as I'd had hoped it would be by now. Even with the help of mainstream stars like Luffy & Goku and a US licence through Funimation.
It's possible the lines just on hold for now. PLEX are quite slow, at least they have been with the One Piece DPCF line. I guess we'll have to wait until WF2013 Summer on July 28th to see whether we get any new Toriko merchandise!!
I check PLEX's line-up page every now and then to see if there's anything new, but so far not much, although I like that Terry plushie

Don't you know it!! Would be great to pose him with my Toriko!! Especially given the current happenings in the manga
I'd also really like a Zebra, Grinpatch & Tommy figure!!

DAT STAR
Now that you told me that I really wanna save money to get them together. If only I could find a job or get commissions :C -
I want a Sunny action figure~

I want a Sunny action figure~
There's already the Sunny fixed posed Figuax that I have arriving soon:
but if you're talking articulated action figures, there's only the Guts Guts series, but they suck:
!
At least they have Zebra though:
I think there was a SH Figuarts series announced, but no further news.
