Torik has been pretty fantastic lately. It's good Shima is going back to his old roots of adventuring. It's funny to see him make excuse after excuse why the first time Toriko was in the gourmet world didn't count. Dude, you really should have not started in the gourmet world in the first place lol
Toriko II: Ichiryuu's Slimy Insides!!
-
-
That looks more like Bush to me. It's pretty hard to tell.
Ah, well these adventure type stories are better for toriko.
-
I liked how Zebra tried to stay cool and not look all nervous when feeling the hoof print, but was just as agitated as everyone else, nice little touch
other than that, yeah, another good chapter, still going strong -
He's just being a Tsundere again.
-
I
m really excited about the fact that we
ll see BFW, and brunchy again. But I have mixed feelings when I think how`d it be if he joined the party. -
This feeling of adventure and wildness… I really dig it.
-
Obama spotted! Top right panel:
!
-
I've really enjoyed Toriko since the Tournament arc ended, I can't wait to see the Bewitching Food World. Sounds like its gonna be a fun time.
-
Obama spotted! Top right panel:
I just noticed the bolts of lightning in that page look like fists. I'm curious about those little black creatures on the low right corner of the page as well.
-
Thanks for the panel indication, if not, I would have tought that Shima was very racist and one of the black hole monsters was Obama.

Maybe even the eeeeevil snowman.
-
^ Those are clearly Diglets. xD
-
Omg, the monster in the 4th panel look soooooo happy! :3 I wanna squeeze him
-
Solid chapter. I wonder if any of these Kings will ever be challenged by Toriko and his group. How many more chapters before that can even take place? That would be one crazy fight. The Kings already felt a kind of threat from Toriko when he opened his eyes so…foreshadowing?
-
Kind of impressive that Elg managed to capture one and merge with one of the eight kings, even if the one he got was only a child (and probably a baby at that judging by the size)
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Oh yeah, anyone else wondering if this isn't Zebra's first trip to the gourmet world? If he met the daruma hermit before it seems likely that he'd have been to bewitching food world which is in the gourmet world. Of course it's possible the Daruma hermit left the gourmet world and met Zebra in the human world, but it's something to consider. It's also possible that like Toriko and Sunny he tried entering but got beat up and the Daruma hermit saved him

Back when Zebra appeared again after the Mellow Cola arc, he already had ummeasurable capture level ingredients in his Full Course.

Lel I actually got reminded of them :P

You mean Komatsu?
-
@Devil:

No, in the 4th panel there's a snake with multiple eyes. It looks so happy.
-
Great chapter. Can't wait to see Toriko & Co. fight the Monty Python foot.

Third. Third panel mate.

So the horse managed to make a footprint, singular?
I kid, we all know the Torikoverse is as overblown as Shima needs it to be. Fun stuff, I'm down with a living frog car, and exploration of overgrown ancient civilizations? Hells yes. A bit convenient that Mappy has an "Exposition gets cut off before major information" character quirk though-I hope Shima doesn't abuse it too much.I'm a bit confused on the terminology here; So "Night" is like a season in Gourmet world? But does it still have a day/night cycle, or have we reached a period of perpetual darkness in the Gourmet world?
-
The size of the footprint of Heracles is insane, just imagine how big it is. How in the hell can a human fight something like that, the horse won't even see him lol.
-
will there be a capture level over 9000?
-
will there be a capture level over 9000?
Doubtful. The battle wolf was shown to be a little over 6000. 9000 seems to high.
-
I saw a theory in a Toriko group something about the steel clouds…the last page, on the bottom left its making a sound, which been seen in tat chapter when Midora talking to a blue nitro.
-
Why does a horse of that size give birth to offsprings the size of humans? (remember the horse part of Elg) lol it sounds rediculous.
-
I think it was one of it's 'cell' of some sort, not an actual offspring.
-
Maybe they have a bunch of offspring at once. No mammal examples come to mind, but most fish eggs are ridiculously small compared to its parents. Same for other species, like amphibians.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Still can
t understand why people underestimate Elg just coz Brunchy killed him. I can
t imagine anyone else (preTS) managing to even defeat him. Only higher ranked Bishokukai members, Ill assume, or he
d be above them. -
@The:

Since the Gourmet Eclipse and Night seem to be pretty closely related, I've been interpreting it this way:
Night is a period when something in Gourmet World blocks out part or all of the sun's light. During this time, many of the species that live directly off of the sun start to die out, and food becomes scarce, even in the Gourmet World. This causes the Eight Kings, with their insatiable appetites, to begin roaming in search of tasty things to eat. That is, as soon as their favorite watering hole starts to dry up.
But, who knows at this point? Shima could really pull anything out his butt.
-

Considering what was said this chapter, it's probably the latest. Night is when the eight kings become active, so the whole GW is in turmoil.

Huh. I just enjoyed a chapter of Toriko more than the week's chapter of One Piece, which I really enjoyed.
I do not like this feeling.

I do not like this feeling.
I hope it's not some kind of feeling of betrayal.
I feel no special kind of love for One Piece where I have to enjoy that manga over everything else I read. In fact, I relish in any kind of enjoyable material I come by no matter what the manga. If Naruto had a chapter miraculously more enjoyable than the One Piece chapter I'd be just as happy to have read something enjoyable for the week, manga related.
Happy and skeptical about my state of mind, of course.
-
Just like Outerspec says. I felt pretty guilty when OP stopped being my favorite, or when I got hooked with other mangas after Toriko became my fave. Or even when I reread naruto after hearing it would end this year, and got really attached to some characters despite the manga being pretty flawed in several aspects.
Enjoy whatever you want and don´t feel bad if something else replaces it.
-
As usual in this manga, the world building is great. But personally, I'm still waiting for an arc in which the story told is on the same level as the world introduced.
-
This day and night thing reminds me of some Castlevania games…monsters get stronger when it is night
-
Ever since we were told about the 8 Kings, I started to believe that Heracles would be one of them. And man oh man, is that thing ginormous.
No, in the 4th panel there's a snake with multiple eyes. It looks so happy.
I hadn't noticed it, it sure looks like something I would like to have as a pet :D
@Jedi:

"What a horrible night to have a curse."
-
How funny would it be if the best explanation of this Night thing that we get is from Mappy.
"So why do the kings become active during Night, Mappy?"
"Oh, well, you seeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee, that's because Night is a very special time in Gourmet World. So, basically… GEROGEROROGE GEGERO."
-
Well I hope he gives us a clear explanation :P
-
Nice chapter, more and more hype for Gourmet world was introduced. Ridiculous how an old footprint can have such uber intimidation effects or other effects, based on the beast's mood. My favorite part of the chapter.
-
The whole "marking territory" thing is starting to make a lot more sense, now. Heracles marked that spot so hard that it hasn't been overpowered by another beast for thousands of years.
Must be some pretty stinky urine that the horse king stepped in on his way out of the restroom. No wonder he was so pissed at the time.
-
The night and day system reminds me of monster hunter too.
With that said the frog is gero gero. -
Finally caught up with Toriko; I marathoned everything from the cooking fest until now over the past few hours. Overall I love it, some great action, excellent world building, and the actual food ideas feel truly inspired. The entire manga feels a lot bigger than I thought it would be, with the story feeling like it's essentially just done the equivalent of venturing into the Grand Line for the first time. Point being, there's a lot of places this can go and plenty of antagonists and places set up for the future. While I do admit drama is not this manga's strong suit I still feel like it does it well when it wants to, as I loved the section where Toriko was separated from Komatsu - regardless of how short it lasted - and the entire Midora flashback was just great. The enemies themselves are some of the stars of the series regarding design and abilities, with people such as Grinpatch and Tommyrod just being delights to read. oh, and that Toriko Starjun fight was INTENSE. Not the most original, but I love a good straightforward fight.
My favorite part since the timeskip is the general adventurous feel that the series has regained since before the Cooking Fest, it's wonderful.
-
Spoiler time guys
-
Nope, chapter time: http://www.batoto.net/read/_/245443/toriko_ch278_by_hi-wa-mata-noboru
-
It's so delightful how Toriko has gone from being typically the last Jump chapter scanned and translated to one of the first.
-
You have Hi Wa Mata Noboru to thank for that.
Shima is really having fun with this arc
-
"When Octo-chan is in Diving Mode he can't swim for shit!" Hahaha! Was that you kewl?
Komatsu was like "Weren't you the guys that supposed to make us live in here?"
I wonder how the Food Luck will be explained. No, I don't like the idea someone being able to obtain via going somewhere or achieving something. I wonder what's the last panel is? Some inner monster or guardian-like thing?
By the way did Frohze referred to Acacia as only Acacia or added some -san or -chan? I'm trying to interpret if that woman has somekind of consciousness of the original Frohze.
-
Dude, a bunch of Jump isn't scanned at all. We're only releasing it like 12 hours earlier than we were because we were able to get an earlier raw source. It's barely any different. But glad you're happy about it anyhow. It's hard as hell to keep up, I keep ending up staying up to like 2AM.
-
Thanks for your and your team's hard work, Kewl. Much appreciated. Also awesome chapter, I like how Zebra is always left out when they make those funny faces.
-
Damn i really want to see what that swordsman beast in the maze looks like.
This chapter was so fun to read.
