I've always laughed this off and never really believed or read much into it. But every time me and my mates have a browse to see how close it comes to each of us and the traits we follow, it's pretty much bang on.
Maybe witchcraft and fantasy, but still somewhat romantic and fun.

I think reading up on my and my friends' signs is pretty fun. Sometimes they are ridiculously spot on and other times they are just plain ridiculous. :')
And when it comes to sign compatibility stuff? Oh maaan! I've read various articles and most made me laugh, but I found one that made me go like WTF? IS SOMEBODY STALKING US?! Sun signs aren't enough to make an accurate analysis though. You have to encompass all of the planets and their houses. Many people just stop at their sun and often times wonder:
"Hey this doesn't match me at all"
My Sun is in cancer, but my Mars is in Leo and my Venus is in Leo. For men, their mars represents how that particular individual views what it means to be a man. A man's venus reflects the type of woman they're attracted too.
Astrology is pretty over whelming in regards to all of details and stuff it entails. Besides I don't even have all the information to complete my charts.
I will admit, while I'm not exactly sold on this stuff, as you fill in your charts the stuff does seem to match the individual's personality more and more.

Yea my Cancer sign matches me like a mirror. I could stay at home months on end and feel ultimately comfortable. I'm emotional like crazy. If I'm sad, people can always tell. When I'm happy, I'm extremely happy. When I'm mad I become a volcano ready to erupt.
Supposedly cancers would make the worst criminals because they don't know how to hide the fact that they've committed a crime due to their emotional tendencies.
As far as sun signs are concerned, they're role is to reveal what one's face value personality is like. It's the personality that they allow everyone to see.
Cancers are still awesome though, we've got: Tom Hanks, Robin Williams, Sylvester Stallone, Harrison Ford

You basically want to find out where your Mars and Venus "was" during the time you were born. Mars and Venus could've have either been in Cancer, Aries, etc.
So to find out where Mars and Venus was during the year you were born click the links and look at the list below. What you want to do is look at the date closest to your birthday.
For example, if someone was born on April 28, 2009 they would need to look and see for the closest date that matches it. By closest, I mean the date right before you were born, not the date after you were born. On the list, the closest date to April 28 would be April 22, 2009. On that day Mars had entered Aries; therefore, they're Mars sign is Aries. If this is male, then that means he's attracted to Aries women.
On April 24, 2009, Venus was in Aries; therefore their Venus is Aries.
Despite this example, as well as for me (where my Venus and Mars are both in Leo), one's Venus and Mars are not always the same.

Mars and Venus means something different for men and women.
For women:
Mars reflects who you're (romantically) attracted to (It's not the same as compatibility). Since your mars is in aries you are attractive to Aries or perhaps those with Aries related traits. Aries are Gung ho kind of people. Ready to take on anything. They're full of energy.
Venus reflects how you perceive womanhood. Venus also alludes to your relationship with money. Capricorns are supposedly good with keeping money and love to work and grind to obtain it. Money isn't something they like to play around with.
Mars and Venus can help you with your compatibility. It's one of the ways to find out at least. For a woman, if your sun matches a man's venus sign… and if the man's sun sign matches your mars, then you two share compatibility.

No problem. Astrology is something that's just a guilty pleasure, but don't allow it to dictate your life. After all, all of this could just be nonsense in the end.

Here's one way to look the whole Venus and Mars things
For men:
You are attracted to someone who has a sun sign in your Venus. (A man who has a Scorpio in Venus is attracted to a woman whose sun is in Scorpip)
For woman:
You are attracted to someone who has a sun sign in your Mars. (A woman who has a Virgo in Mars is attracted to a man whose sun is in Virgo)

Im gemini. I somewhat believe in this, but i dont take it seriosly. Sometimes when i read about my horoscope, it really fits my day. The facts are pretty funny too, altough some of them actually 'are true', but not all.
Also, i can always blame my evil twin, if i get caught doing something bad.. :D

actually stars can be used to predict certain events. But in regards to people and personal traits then yes, that's pretty much a given. Still it's fun seeing how spot on it can be regardless of how vague or easily linked an aspect of someone's personality is.

I don´t have a lots of friends because I can´t trust people right off the bat, I have to choose and analyze who will be my friend.
I used to write this off as just a hoax, but then a friend talked to me about what the signs trully mean.
Me being an Aries, means that I was born in spring, that I was going to be younger than my projected classmates, that I was going to be on equal distances from children's day (here's july) and december, that my birthday would coincide with easter a lot of times, all of those things are things that actualy had an effect on my personality, and if there were seasons beyond Rainy and Annoyingly Sunny here, it would bring the whole "far away from winter" thing.
So, there's most likely some truth in the sings.
I'm supposed to be a Capricorn. I never believed zodiac readings or horoscopes or whatever you want to call it. I actually think that the star sign descriptions are too general, and can be applicable to everyone. I think everything is a total junk.
The problem with the zodiac, and really any what ____ describes you quiz is that the human mind and experience is a bit more complex than we give it credit for and too dumb to actually recognize that. We like making mad mental leaps in describing anything, including ourselves. We like throwing no more than a fistful of adjectives at anything observable and then moving on to the next thing. People did the same things with "if star signs were people, they would be ______" a long time ago. Now, if the adjectives we use to describe ourselves have a certain amount of overlap with the adjectives used to describe a vaguely-defined space animal if they were actually a person, then we make another leap and don't question the connection. What we don't realize is that no one really has a static personality or description and that we occupy most, if not all personality descriptors at some time or another. That is unless we've started defining ourselves by the adjectives we've self-applied. Then we become shallow people.
