One Piece is far more popular than say, Naruto, in Japan. Yet there're far more PS/XBOX Naruto games than there is for One Piece, how come?
I have no idea how these things are done, but I thought it might have something to do with the publishers like Namco Bandai, etc. So, does anyone know?
Likely because up until recently the Wii was the big console in Japan. Now that's going down in sales the PS3 is getting some games.
Likely the reason why the 360 doesn't get the games is because it doesn't sell over there. Therefore they don't bother making the games for it.
I remember reading somewhere that Nintendo had One Piece games exclusivity for some years. Not sure if that's true or not.
But yeah, like Cyber-Robin said the market is different and OP is not on the same level of popularity of Naruto or Dragon Ball outside Japan. So while CyberConnect2 (makers of the PS2/3 Naruto games) or Dimps and Spike (makers of the PS2/3 Dragon Ball games) are already thinking about the other markets when they develop their games, the OP game developers focus only/mainly on the japanese market and exporting the game is a side though
most anime games (except the dragonball z ones) don't come out for xbox. Ninja storm was an exception due to high demand after the 1st one was successful (it ps3 exclusive) This is likely down to the xbox just not selling well. The games are usually on 3ds or ps3 and one piece was exclusively for nintendo platforms since unlimited adventure. I don't think there's a rights issue rather it was due to ganbarion making them and they seem to release all their games on nintendo consoles recently. (i don't know of it's there choice or if they are contracted with nintendo)
The 360 does NOT have the kind of popularity in Japan that it has in the States and some other countries. Not even close.
I mostly think some games get 360 releases over there at all just because they will have more success/greater profits on the international market. The Wii was the most popular console until just recently, as Cyber mentioned above. Nintendo and Sony pretty much own the gaming market there, though for awhile Sony wasn't as high as Nintendo was by far.
I remember there were atleast a couple OP PS2 games. Is that right? Otherwise mostly everything else I can remember was on Nintendo consoles, it has been more recently that PS3 popularity is exploding and now we're seeing OP games there too. It's just a case of different market culture, the 360 doesn't have much clout in Japan as it does back in the West.
