Finally, after 3 months i finished this. God, im so tired of this arc, i will never watch it again. Ever. I watched every episode like 5-6 times, but they are still not perfect. I did my best and i think you will enjoy it. Its perfect if you want to rewatch MF arc. No fillers, better pace, hope you will like it.I was posting eps in general anime thread, but here you have updated version, changes are mostly small edits and i added music once, during croco scene, so anyway just forget about older version and download these.

If you like it, and think i should do more, then i can try with impel down(or SH reunion on SA, when it ends). Anyone interested?

About torrent - I think it wont work :/ Idk why, but it doesn't want to upload properly, and i don't think i can fix this. Its uploading like 4 MB, then stop, a then after minute or two it uploads another 4 MB, with this pace it will take forever to upload it :/ Anyone can help? It is beacuse of bad configuration, or just my inernet providor is not letting my do this. If this matters, my dad uploaded torrents on private tracker and they have worked very well.
Anyway, its uploading, really slow, but still. If you have patience, you should have it after few days. It would be nice if someone could download at least one ep form megaupload and then upload it with utorrent(or whatever program you're using), it would speed up this a little.

I follow the manga ofcourse but since i quit the anime halfway through impel down i can't get myself to keep watching the anime. Unhealthy doses of buggy :(
I'm showing the anime to my GF now, we are at enias lobby right now, which could seriously use an overhaul. And impel down, that goes without saying ;)
i'm downloading the torrent, when it's done (if), i'll put in my opinion.
but I will say that in general, this is a VERY cool idea!

And I fixed that torrent problem, its uploading normally now, so if someone had a problem before with downloading, try again… let's say tommorow, or day after tommorow, when more people will be seeding

I vote Condensed myself. Like someone else said, abridged, while technically correct, seems to have taken on the connotation of comedy, for obvious reasons, lol.

I just finished download and watched the first episode. A solid effort, though the fades were a bit noticeable, especially as Buggy wondered whether he was destined to be Pirate King, the end of his sentence was clipped a bit. Also, the music I assume you added near the end drowned out the voices and SFX somewhat; not terribly, and understandable to keep the original music minimized, but still a little jarring. But nice work condensing the plot so far! I'll lay my thoughts on the rest when I'm through.

Ok, 6 episodes in. I agree with Shift, the fades are a bit too noticeable. And in some scenes, transitioning from one to another felt awkward. Like when Luffy was running up to Mihawk and the scene continued onto the next scene. The music didn't really flow with the change. I think you should have made use of eyecatches. Like after Mihawk makes his speech and the footage for that episode ends, you could make the footage's sound linger on till the eyecatch ends. Then put another eyecatch putting the beginning of the song used in the beginning of the next episode (where Luffy actually engages Mihawk) and try to edit the song as best you can so it can flow right into the scene. If that makes sense.

But, so far, you've done a pretty good job condensing all this! I'll finish the rest after midterms.

With my skills it's really not easy to edit some scenes. I can't turn off the music, that is the biggest problem. I can't just cut it in a place, where its not ruining the flow, beacuse most of the time in that moment, something important is happening on the screen. I didn't want to stretch scene too much, because that obviously wasn't my point so I had to reach a compromise here. Believe me, i tried my best, but i just couldn't jump over every obstacle. About that eyecatchers, i thought people would be like "there is no commercial, why the f. did you leave them?" Thinking about it now, it would help me a little. Thanks for some criticism, and i'm glad you're enjoying it anyway.
And may I ask how many fades did you noticed, and how many felt awkward? Just pick one episode you are actually watching(or one that you watched, if you have time) and count them. I want to compare how many you noticed to how many there is :) Thanks in advance.

It's not so much the amount of fades, as Toei uses those too. It's more where they appear in relation to the story. In the second ep for instance, 16:55-17:00 has about 5 seconds of darkness with an abrupt fade out from and in to Ace; maybe slowing the fade by a second or two would help, and if you have an option for a crossfade from one scene into another, try it out. 18:20-30 has two fades right next to each other, and it was very jarring; maybe you could have made a clean cut from the waves to the ship going backwards.

But don't get me wrong, this is a worthy experiment I'm glad to see someone attempting. I'd actually want to see a new version of Luffy's flashback story, especially with the tale of the old man who deeply impacted their lives, except not really, cut out. It'd be a lot shorter and give you more time to polish your skills.

Aaaaaah, I misundersood fades for transitions (damn english). I wanted to see how many awkward scene to scene transitions ConfusedPhantom(or whoever) noticed, not fades.
Anyway I'll pay more attention to it in the future.
About Luffy's flashback - I'll think about it. That old man you mentioned is from filler, right?

Took me all night to torrent the episodes. Thanks to the seeders out there. I watched episode 11 this morning before work since it had 3 eps in one to see what I was getting into. This was one action packed episode. You have done a great job with the edits. Nothing you can do about the music unless you want to be like 4 kids and completely replace the soundtrack to cover all the edits. :)
This makes the IMHO Worst arc in the anime version of One Piece watchable. I do have to ask, Is the fight between Blackbeard and Whitebeard just like in the manga?

I think so. I cut that scene, where WB is being hit few times by BB. I didn't cut gear second WB though, without that scene it looks like WB is teleporting to BB.

I might watch these just because I'm curious to find out which parts were filler. Honestly I loved the entire marineford arc (I watched the anime first and have now started reading the manga and am not that far yet) and I'm sure I'll be disappointed to see that some of the parts I loved were actually filler genius rather than Oda genius. I can hardly think of a single piece of that arc as I saw it that could be taken out and still have the story flow so well, so I'm sad to hear that there may have been a lot of filler in places I assumed weren't.

So far I've preferred the anime to the manga in most aspects, however, so it won't make any major differences on the opinion side. Just more to be disappointed with I suppose.

I'm greatly supporting this, if I had the time I would pitch as I've pretty good at editing but I don't.
I would like to request for the future : Thriller Bark Canon, Impel down and luffy's part 1 closing flashback. and maybe even a shortened and juicy "where are the strawhats" abridged. This would be for many times beneficial for all of us who watch one piece quite a few times with people having to suffer through the slow parts again and again and promising the people we're showing this to that it's gonna be worth it:)

I would also like to propose the title "one piece anime canonised" ;)

I started watching this earlier (already saw the full arc before) and upto just now in the third episode I could bear it quite well. Transitions or fades didn't really bug me. However, what did bug me was that someone (I presume Dahaka) felt the need to edit in a 'Back to the Kitchen, bitch' text during the Giants vs Little Oars Jr battle (ep3, 15:55-15:59). I'd expect such stuff in youtube annotations of underage groupies showing their favorite scenes, but not in a video from a devout fan who worked really hard on editing a whole arc. (Nevermind the fact it is hardcoded, so no turning it off.) Here's to hoping the rest of the episodes are free of such idiocy. :(

Omg I totally forgot about this. I was editing that ep, when my friend was in my house i we decided to add it there, just for the lulz. In final version(this thread) i wanted to delete it, but I forgot. Really sorry for this, if there is a need i still can upload a episode without it. And yes, rest of episodes are free of this.

I'm glad to hear I won't run into any more of that, then! :) I'm sorry if I sounded a bit cranky in my post; I really appreciate the 'abridged' episodes.

How did you decide what to include or not include? It isn't on a per-manga-panel basis I think; for one, I can't recall seeing the introductions/sitting down of the admirals in front of the execution stand. Was it just by personal opinion of what scenes mattered? Reason is that I sorta want to make a friend watch this, but he's the sort of person that wants to watch material that is truthful to the manga, and as such would rather put up with filler stuff than have one legit scene cut out.

I wanted it to be exactly like manga, but sometimes a short filler scene staid, beacuse without it things would be wierd ( like WB G2 scene i mentioned above). But there is one scene i cut out from the manga. Middle panel:

Fair enough, I don't think I'd notice that one missing without it being pointed out like you just did. :) Those Buggy fillers get annoying quick, which is sad… he used to be awesome in early One Piece. :(

Very cool, just watched ep 8, i like the pace and im following this with my manga volumes in hand :)
some times music is alittle off and i can tell where big cuts have been made but these are things that having watched the anime before, is just nit picking

I saw an episode or two of this, I saw at least the part where Ace was actually freed.

I have to say, HUGE improvement over what aired on TV. So much so that I kinda wish FUNi would make this how the "Marathon Feature" plays out when they do the eventual DVD release of this part of the series… It's an absolutely HUGE difference, this arc REALLY Dragged in the original airing.

Like others have said, there are noticable cuts and music issues that you couldn't really help, but I'll take them over allllll the Captain Buggy filler we had.
Have spent the past two days going through it and can't wait to see what you do with other arcs in the future :)
