So, about the latest gerusama release, 239: amazing episode. Water 7 is really topping the other arcs so far. The new animation style also seems to be growing on me more and more. And that moment where Nami says to Luffy "ok then we need to use stealth and find a way to sneak in.." and bam, Luffy rushes in.. so typical but it makes me love one piece
Gerusama 239 Discussion

You should've just made this the 'GeruSama Release Discussion'. Basically all discussion in regards to present, future & past releases, also the Geru sub in general, should go in this topic, and this topic only. Maybe a mod can convert it?
-
BF is too fast for me. i'd say the same
sabret00the will become crazy with it
-
Ok I changed it a bit, but I can't edit the title in the forum index, will need a mod to do that..
-
It´s not only Sabret00the who gets confused here. Seriously guys it appears to all be a bit much lately with the anime episodes. If I understand it correctly then we´re goin to have three seperate threads about K-F, Gerusama and Raw episodes. Why? Was it so bad the old way? I´m not complaining, I´m just asking for the reason since I´m really a bit confused now.
-
Well, the K-F people probably don't want to be spoiled by talk about water 7, and I personally only follow gerusama and not the raws, so mixing that talk doesn't look like such a great idea to me either.
I for one liked the old system where there's a thread per episode, it makes it easy to see when new eps are released and everything.
-
I understand what the reasons you mention jackvance and they make perfect sense. I just don´t understand why we have to change this whole system. I mean is it that bad to start a new thread for each new episode that comes out, no matter if K-F, Gerusama or Raw?
I mean in the manga forum we also have seperate threads for each new chapter. And over there we have much more discussions while the anime forum doesn´t have that much talkback as the manga forum. So why not stay with the new threads for each new episode where ever it comes from? I´m still confused as what the reason may be.

i think if this forum had a dedicated mod who would start episode discussion threads per episode then it'd grow and we'd be able to compete with the manga forum, but with half the people having seen said events in the manga and others only saying they've grabbed the eps, discussion often takes place in other threads. http://ap.animemedia.org/showthread.php?t=2717 :shrugs:
-
maybe because there is about 2 3 episode releases a week and that make a lot of threads without that much posts.
but honestly, i'd say that the big problem on this board is the "what's your favorite" or "what's the worst" threads. i can't see the use of them.
-
i think that's the point where AP needs to decide if it's a General OP forum, an OP Manga forum, an OP/KF forum, an OP/Geru forum or a joint Affiliates OP forum.
If 2-3 threads come out and if a good mod sorts out the discussion then those threads will be great and buzzing, sometimes forums needs a budge, i would say that the anime forum here definately needs that and by trying to stifle the existing chat that happens here, we're going backwards as opposed to forwards.

Yeah, like I said, I totally agree.. it's what I did too, I made a post for ep 239, but people suggested I make this a thread for all future gerusama releases so I thought this had been decided somewhere..
-
I wouldn't mind a thread for each fansub group. They dont have to be stickied. One advantage to having one thread for all of Gerusama rather than every episode is that it's less likely to lose the previous discussions from the episodes that came before.
-
If they join the topics, I hope it is not like K-F's where there are 200+pages on the Water Seven topic . That is one of the reasons I do not read the 4Kids Dub. topic here, pages about epid. from last year. If they could do a Gerusama 236-240 topic, then it would be small enuff for ppl to read . What do yall think ?

Franky's Attack was really powerful and the animation was just great.
-
Actually, the animation was kind of sub-par compared to other recent eps. Definately one of the budget episodes. :) The everything else was great. I love the way the plot is building up. Even though I know what's going to happen, I just can't wait for the next episode. It starts to get very exciting.
I loved Franky's "NO!" scene. XD I'm liking Yao as Franky more and more.
Also, note the new format of the episode starting before the opening.
-
It's always funny when Mos and Kiwi mimic Franky's moves. For some reason when Franky flips the table admist the battle, no matter how many times I see it, I crack up at the pose the three of them are in during that scene.

But for some reason it didn't bug me as much this time. All that really was sub-par were a few Franky facial shots where he looked kinda goofy, and chopper and sanji looking kiddish. The rest looked OK.
Oh, and that "ms. doublefingers" pose Nami made when Luffy was about to escape onto the rooftops.. although it did look kinda "artsy".

Edited title, linked from main thread and reopened that thread.

Alright, I'm an admin, so I can do this :/
There will not be one single thread for each string of releases. That will cause a simply massive thread, one which no one in their right mind will be willing to go through and read.
Take for example the "One Piece Discussion" thread here http://forums.animesuki.com/forumdisplay.php?f=29.
There is much more freedom of discussion in multiple, shorter, focused threads.
And also, we don't need junior moderators. :/
The guys who always declare which threads should be closed, what kind of forum rules should exist, and making threads like this. If you have suggestions, complaints, threats, obscene gestures, or anything else, message the guys in charge. -
I like it this way. I'd rather have a thread-per-new episode rather than just one big thread (it makes it easier to find out when new eps have been released) plus, if a new ep comes out I won't get spoiled browsing around some huge thread. ^^
omg Kei, I love your location!! OSSU! niceguypose

Ok, with all that blah blah blah can we now get back to the episode itself?
Well I´ve just seen it and I liked it (again). Don´t want to say much about the animation because I think I´ve already did that in the episode´s raw talkback.
Well anyways, I have a question to those who speak french and have seen this episode (if there is anybody out there). Do you really pronounce "Coup de Vent" like Franky/Yao did it in the anime?
I don´t speak french myself but I have a very little understanding of how some things should sound like and I was completely surprized by the pronounciation of the term. The only term that I would have guessed correctly in terms of pronounciation is the term "Vent" but how Franky said "Coupe" was definitely not what I thought it would sound like. So can someone confirm whether or not it was a correct pronounciation of the attack or not, because I´m dying to know! <_<

No.. the french made me laugh when I first saw the episode. He basically said "Cou de Vein", while a more accurate phonetic spelling would be "Coup de Vohn" (or "Vaughn"). He stretches the words out which makes them sound really un-french, but apart from that the way he said "coup de" could be forgiven but "vent" was all wrong XD

Heh, i can't understand a word french (except the few Mr. 2 teached me), but that's what i came up with. I smiled the first time i heard and read it. The katakana said クー ド ヴァン or "kuu do van", so franky said it the right way according to the katakana, at least
Long live the pwr of Furenchi

i didn't see the ep but i already know it's bad. the intro of gankutsuou were not undersandable even for a french like me. and i think they did an effort.
i've heard only one time japanese people speak a barely understandable french, it's in tokyo eyes, the kitano movie, when they sing a song i don't know.
-
Thanks guys for clearing that up because I was really wondering whether I expected the wrong spelling or not.
BTW jackvance, yep you´re right the "Vent" part was also wrong but at least that was somehow the only term that I could make out while I was completely lost on the "Coup de" part.
-
Eh I didn't think it was too great. To me, the only truly good parts where "Coup de vent" And Sanji and Chopper at the going merry. I really don't think that Yao's Franky's got enough spunk, which is sad, after his excellent mr 2, and the animation of Franky were sometimes off (IMO).
To me, the only truly good W7 Episodes have been 234 and 236, while the rest have dragged slightly, and Drumm is still my favourite animated arc.
