Whether you're a Mac or a PC user this man helped paved the way for the current technology we have. R.I.P. Steve.
-
Man I just finished watching that ep with the centipad on South Park when I found out about this, I feel really bad….
May he rest in peace.
-
sigh And we lose another of our great innovators . . . . .
R.I.P Steve. Have fun up there with Edison, Ford, and all the rest.
-
Damn, so soon. He just retired not long ago too. RIP to a great man.
I wonder how Bill Gates will pay his respects.
-
I wondered how much time he had left after the shocking glimpse of him a month or so ago.
-
Patton Oswalt said, "RIP Steve Jobs. Closest thing we had to Tony Stark." And I think that pretty much sums it up. He had an amazing influence on technology and media. Not shocking, but sad nonetheless.
-
Ah man, that sucks.
I remember that speech he gave at Stanford. Pretty inspirational.
RIP dude.
-
@Cuddles:
Ah man, that sucks.
I remember that speech he gave at Harvard or somewhere like that. Pretty inspirational.
RIP dude. That was Stanford. BTW, he had a home, close to it, in Palo Alto, California.

RIP dude.it's wierd becasue they thought he was going to show up at the announcement of the phone this morning.
-
An example of just how rapidly he changed from a healthy young guy to his more recent image.
!
Though I have to admit i'm shocked someone with his fortune wasn't able to get the treatment needed to battle and defeat his pancreatic cancer. -
Mistake corrected. Also, the two threads should be merged.
-
Well damn. RIP. I'm interested to see where Apple goes now without him.
-
Just heard the news. This makes me sad.
-
Thanks for the merger. P:
-
I knew he wasn't in the best health, but I was NOT expecting him to go so suddenly
RIP Mr. Jobs.
-
Well, he did retire because of his health…
Ah well, he was a good guy...
-
I never bought a single one of your products but RIP dude. Maybe on the other side you would invent a device to help the living communicate with the afterlife.
-
I get back from seeing a movie and when I load my homepage this is the first thing I see. What?
RIP Jobs
-
This is just heartbreaking.
Rest in peace, Mr. Jobs.
EDIT: I wrote this post on a MacBook Pro.
-
R.I.P. Steve Jobs. Truly a visionary and a genius.
-
Wow the one year I got an IPod Touch and then this..just aww.
Thanks for the tech Steve, you truly were a revolutionary genius. Rest in Peace.
-
Thank you for sharing your vision with the world, Steve; I've never regretted buying your Macbooks, or asking for an iPod for Christmas.
Dammit, first Jack Layton, now this…
-
I just got home from school not too long ago, and heard the news on CNN.
R.I.P. Steve Jobs, truly a great man.
-
I can't say I've ever been a fan of Jobs, or Apple, but I'd be a fool to discount his impact on popular technology.
also, the man was a marketing genius. 20 years from now, people will still be calling portable MP3 players "iPods" regardless of their brand.
-
Though I have to admit i'm shocked someone with his fortune wasn't able to get the treatment needed to battle and defeat his pancreatic cancer.
Pancreatic cancer is almost always terminal. Most people die within 6 months of diagnosis. Though he had a more treatable form, he was very ill for a long time, and his body was failing him. I know awhile back his liver failed and he needed a transplant. Cancer just eats people up, its sad.
RIP Steve Jobs, you were an inspiration.
-
I never liked his company or tactics. But there is no denying that he did bring good products.
R.I.P
-
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooooooooo
-
RIP one of the tech world's biggest innovators. Even a PC and Android owner like me can't deny the greatness that is his contributions to the world of tech.
And if you're one of those snooty PC/Android fans who turn your noses away from apple at every turn, he wasn't just the Apple guy.
Steve Jobs was instrumental in the creation of Pixar. Without him we wouldn't have Toy Story, A Bug's Life, Finding Nemo, The Incredibles, Monster's Inc. Wall-E, Or Up…. I just made myself sadder...
-
This guy was great, and its sad he died
but his innovations to the iPod got a bit…much.
Ipad!? seriously?!
Anyway rest in peace great innovator, you may have died, but you are still immortal in legacy.
To quote Hiluluk:
''When does a man die? When he is hit by a bullet? No. When he suffers a disease? No. When he ate a soup made out of a poisonous mushroom? No! A man dies when he is forgotten!''
Truer words have never been spoken.

Not to mention, foundations of Windows GUI was heavily influenced by Macintosh.
Even for a "snooty PC user", you must be aware that your own platform may not have existed if Jobs didn't develop the mac. -

Whoa, didn't know this… and I JUST got done watching The Incredibles. =(
-
Wow, this is unexpected. Of course, I had no idea he had pancreatic cancer. Although I've never bought an Apple product (at least, not a computer or iPod or anything) I have to agree he was a great businessman and innovator. Such a shame.
-
Great and brilliant man.
He offered us so much in his short life… May you rest in peace Jobs. Thank you for everything.
-
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NOT STEVE!!!!!!
HE'S ONE OF THE GREATEST MINDS OF OUR TIME!!!!
Oh my god… Steve Jobs is my hero........And I was very sad just finding out earlier today that he wasn't CEO of Apple anymore... it's strange to think that his innovative mind is finally resting.
You lead a beautiful life, thank you for the future of the past and present, and may it evolve ever further.
-
People who have the drive and the capacity to actually change the world only come every so often.
Even though I'm typing on my pc laptop and carrying an android phone in my pocket I know he had a big part to play on both ideas. He was brilliant, truly a genius, may he rest in peace. -
Not to mention, foundations of Windows GUI was heavily influenced by Macintosh.
Even for a "snooty PC user", you must be aware that your own platform may not have existed if Jobs didn't develop the mac.I'm not saying that I'm one of the snooty type, but they do exist. They exist on all sides. There are snooty Apple fans who decry anything not by Apple, and there are people who are fans of PC and Androids who decry anything by Apple. Hell, Video games have it worse with console fanboys.
But yes, I knew that full well.
I was saying that "I'm a non-snooty PC/Android user who understands how great this guy was and how much he contributed. But if you're not like me and you are the snooty kind who hates Apple, then here's something he did you might like".
-
RIP Steve Jobs. I can't imagine my life without your contributions.
You will be remembered! -
Rip Steve Jobs , one of the most awesome men of this time
-
I've never been a big fan of Apple's products, but now I feel I need to buy an Iphone first thing tomorrow. I always liked Steve, and it's a damn shame to see him go.
-
RIP Steve Jobs, you were important for modern technology.
-
Holy crap. Totally gobsmacked - i just saw this news on the frontpage of Yahoo…..
Just 2 days after the IPhone 4s was revealed too....This is a major loss for Apple but also for the world as a whole. The man was a genius. He changed the world, and a true inspiration for any Entrepeneur to look up to as a mentor.
R.I.P Steve. -
FUCK IT! Why…? Just why?!
-
I don't get why people are shocked. We knew this would happen 3-4 months ago.
-
Well, it still comes as a shock somehow. Not "shock" in it's literal meaning, but more of a "… wait what?" moment, at least for me. Seems weird somehow that he's gone, kind of unbelievable. Rest in Peace, crazy old bastard. You've achieved something. Sincere respects. This guy had a great life, I guess. Probably deserved.

"Steve was among the greatest of American innovators - brave enough to think differently, bold enough to believe he could change the world, and talented enough to do it," said Mr Obama.<<
-
I never was a Apple person but Apple was the first computer co-made by an innovator may Steve rest in peace.
-
Man Im sad now, RIP you great man.
-
Rest in peace, Jobs.
-
Damn, so soon. He just retired not long ago too. RIP to a great man.
I wonder how Bill Gates will pay his respects.
Taken from thegatesnotes
I’m truly saddened to learn of Steve Jobs’ death. Melinda and I extend our sincere condolences to his family and friends, and to everyone Steve has touched through his work.
Steve and I first met nearly 30 years ago, and have been colleagues, competitors and friends over the course of more than half our lives.
The world rarely sees someone who has had the profound impact Steve has had, the effects of which will be felt for many generations to come.
For those of us lucky enough to get to work with him, it’s been an insanely great honor. I will miss Steve immensely.
-
Rest in peace, dear Steve Jobs.
You were, are and will be mi inspirationMy heart is crying.
