I don't know if this is related to AP being flagged as an attack site, but I suspect lowering my protections may have increase my vulnerability.
I was hit by a backdoor trojan in the Rootkit.Win32.TDSS family. It will basically shut down your computer and prevent you from booting back up into Windows by corrupting the ci.dll file.
My problem was pretty text-book, I managed to boot into safe mode and update Malwarebytes, and was on the verge of cleaning up everything, but something happened. I guess the virus turned off Windows again.
However, now I cannot boot into Windows at all. Originally, I'd simply not get into the main menu, and system recovery would try to fix the problem, fail and loop several times. Now, I can't even click F8 to get into the windows boot menu. All I get is a black screen with a _ flashing. It's horrifying to look at.
I'm perfectly fine with reinstalling Windows, except I have some important files on my computer I want to get back. Just get me into Windows please!
