Oh I think stocks, if they are the right type, might be acceptable as well…

How much to wipe my horrible slate clean then? Oh and throw in a more fitting font for my name while ya at it.

I wouldn't go with stocks right now, unless it was like Berkshire Hathaway (Stock A of course ) or something.
Cash in hand is best in this economy. People write forward dated checks, or worse, bad checks. Cash Money Millionaires

What stuff do you have on offer in exchange?
Specially colored names.

Reviving month old threads. That's a paddling.
I dread to know the punishment for reviving years old threads. :ninja:
actually I just remembered a question I was gonna ask. When I first signed up to AP, I tried one username and a mediacom email address, but the confirmation was never sent. Is that just a site glitch/bug whatever or is there actually someone to blame? Though if it is a bug, don't fix it because my original username was awful. :whistling:
There's a couple email hosts that the site just won't accept. Its not a glitch or bug really… just some it won't accept, I guess because they're easy sites to make dupes on?
I don't know which ones exactly, since thats an admin level privledge, but that's my understanding.
There was also a lot of bouncing at one point when we were upgrading some of the security, but I think that's settled now.
Congrats Chrissie and Nia…erm..er... and anyone else ive missed.
Side note: Yeah i didn't know where to give the shout out so i bumped this toxic thread. ;D
Chrissie, Nia, Shift and Dark Lord Zenigame were the members made into new seniors.
Congratulations and good luck to them!
why do the seniors need luck? is there a responsibility I'm evading unknowingly?
Everybody needs luck.
So why exactly got this thread closed even after everybody followed the rules the Mod gave?
(No, before you ask, nobody send me here, I'm just curious and I guess I'm not the only one, that's why I ask here and not in private.)
Even behind spoiler tags, youtube videos and flash content in general are massive memory sinks. That not only puts a strain on my computer (that thread locked me up for minutes), I'm sure flash-heavy threads put strains on the server as well. with AP being as unstable as it is, and that thread being a lot less socially useful than say, Forced Listening, it just wasn't meant to be. That's my take, anyway.

Whew! You weren't kidding about the lockup, KI. Yikes.
What he says.

While i agree with rest of your post, i don't think it should effect the server much, unless the content is hosted on server itself (which its not - its on utube).
I don't claim to be familiar, so my bad. There's still no denying how disruptive flash content can be to memory usage, especially on portable devices.
There's also the fact that it's basically another "React to the above poster" thread. We only have one as far as I'm aware, but there's a sea of them locked from the past. So I'm fairly sure they're a no-no for the most part.

For starters its a spam thread which generally isn't allowed anyway. I let it go when I first saw it, but it went from "Seems harmless" to "Okay, its messing things up even with tags." in a hurry.

Get a better computer or stop going into threads your computer can't handle and then bitching about it.
k, got it, thanks for the answers :)
There's still no denying how disruptive flash content can be to memory usage, especially on portable devices.
Which is why i said that i agree to rest of your post. 20 youtube videos can hang most of (almost all) portable devices.
Get a better computer or stop going into threads your computer can't handle and then bitching about it.
Lovely advice, so sensitively delivered. Since you're so very knowledgeable and in such a helpful mood, perhaps you could share more–like telling us where the money for said better computer or device will come from, or the way in which a poster in this position would know the threads to avoid prior to entering them...?
Frankly, I'm a little surprised at this response Sako. I thought better of you...
The thread was named "Video retortion thread (respond to the above with utube)". So I would guess someone should know that there are going to be videos in the thread. Also, Robby himself posted in the thread @RobbyBevard:
So this is basically the "try to break the internet browser and cell phone" thread then?
Seems harmless, but if you have to do it, tag the videos so people don't get slammed with 20 videos simultaneously
So there, initially, was no problem with the thread.
Now, the way I see it, the only reason the thread was closed was because someone complained to a mod about their phone/shitty computer crashing when entering the thread. I wouldn't imagine that this would cause any permanent damage so the logical thing to do would be NOT GO IN THE THREAD AGAIN. If a mod wants to close a thread because of the content of the thread (such as it being a spam thread) then so be it but closing the thread to cater to people browsing on their phone is stupid.
No no,now you have to show us your "guide-to-get-rich", hehe.
I knew someday it would pay out to be in here with all the money-making machines,
Lets not allow people to post images or have graphic avatars or sigs because it could crash the calculator I'm browsing on.

LOL–While I did not experience any difficulties as a result of entering, I didn't know precisely what Smudge meant by that title until I viewed a few of the replies. I realize my experiences on the web are vastly limited compared to most of you, however I hardly consider myself stupid in any way, thus I can see how someone else may misunderstand the thread...
@Sakon:

I saw several people saying they experienced a problem from the thread, not just KI. Perhaps you need to address all of them.
@sakon:

I don't recall Robby saying anything about phone users getting locked up being his reason for doing so… He specifically said he recognized it as a spam thread, but let it go as he couldn't see the harm, but once he did, he closed it. Now Robby is a lovable guy, and a great mod, but he, like me, is not as... tech savvy as some of the other staff here, so it's possible someone else would have pulled the plug immediately, already knowledgeable about the reasoning for the rule. Surely you aren't suggesting malfeasance on Robby's part..? Also, these forums welcome all comers, even if they ONLY own a phone with which to access the threads.
@Don:
No no,now you have to show us your "guide-to-get-rich", hehe.
I knew someday it would pay out to be in here with all the money-making machines,
LOL Yes Sakon, I did have two parts to my question to you. How is a poster of limited means to acquire the money to pay for a "better" machine. Are you suggesting that the forums only be open to people with the best equipment?
It was ONE thread that caused the problems with people browsing on their phones and/or shitty computers. Might as well close the Forced Listening Thread as well. I'm not saying they should get a better computer, I'm saying that they shouldn't keep going into threads (in this case ONE thread) that cause their computers to crash if they can't afford better computers.
Lets not allow people to post images or have graphic avatars or sigs because it could crash the calculator I'm browsing on.
You do realize that probably 25% of the userbase, if not more, surf the net on cellphones and other portable devices, right? Your little funny there would be, well, more fitting if so many of us weren't on cellphones.
But like BC said, it's not the video posting that got the thread locked, so that's not really the point here. But if we want to address that issue particularly, why not tag video-heavy threads appropriately from here on out? Remember those "(56k Warning)" tags from way back when? Why not mark all video/flash heavy threads you make in the future as "(Flash Warning)" or "(Video Warning)" or something. Then those of us who can't afford to shell out hundreds of dollars can know clearly what threads to avoid, and you don't have to complain because everyone's poorer than you. Everybody wins.
I personally hate the new "Oh hey I can go to Facebook on my phone" thing so I hope you'll excuse me for being a little irritated at this whole thing. Reminds me of one of the Spy Kids movies. "This watch can do anything you want it to do. Except tell time." Phones are now used to do everything but make calls.

And this is a problem because…?
Just ranting :ninja: .
the thread was worthless anyway, ESPECIALLY for the amount of space it took up
now shut up
I wasn't arguing that it was a good thread :sideways: .
I think I broke the thread.
Hey maybe if I, too, am snarky enough I can bitch about something I didn't even like to people who are far more patient than I deserve!
Give it a try buckaroo.
I love arguing for points I have no personal interest or opinion in or for what the outcome will be!

There were no complaints about the topic crashing anyone's browser/computer/whatever prior to me closing it. Your ranting was a waste.
I closed the topic solely because of it being spam related. robby already explained.
The thread was just for shits and giggles so its no biggie.
As for constructive "criticism part 2", that's a whole different kettle of mutated fish.
Smudge, you didn't…

If I saw "Flash warning" I'd assume I was dodging the bullet on something else entirely.
I noticed that suddenly the post merge instead merged my previous post along with all the quotes into a big bolded mess.
Anyone have a clue why ?
This forum is awful. You perma-ban people for disagreeing with stupid biased beliefs ( ex: Naruto is bad )
This forum is awful. You perma-ban people for disagreeing with stupid biased beliefs ( ex: Naruto is bad )
Your obvious gripe comes from being hung drawn and quartered in the Naruto thread, right?
Well you might have an IQ of over 190, but your common sense is non-existent it would appear. Instead of having a tantrum on the forum floor about how unfair it is, and how its "full of biased beliefs", why not put the time and effort into disproving the theories and comments you disagree with using good old fashioned effort? (quotes, links and logic)
If you can't take a bit of banter, or even keep your cool and contribute to the forum, why return to this place?
The real issue lies in the fact you are too lazy and short-tempered.
