Monet was quite impressive in this episode. Unfortunately we all know that

I did enjoy Smoker's entry at the end though. Really cool scene.

How is that? The anime follows the manga faithfully despite its many shortcomings, so eventually it too will have to nerf logias again.

Well that was adequate. I know I seem to be in the minority in regards to finding last week's episode kinda meh, but… This felt like a step up to me. Though they are slightly running into the whole "making Luffy come off as way weaker and less competent than he should be"-thing that so often tends to pop up nowadays.

This was a great ep, if you ignore the kids, which is not the director's fault, you will find this to be on par with #607. Aya did really well directing this, I think she is now my current 2nd favorite director after Otsuka.
Everything in this ep regarding Law/Vergo was handled exceptionally well. And the Vergo kicking Law scene was probably the best scene Ishizuka have Key Animated since Thriller Bark.

now it's time for a theory. the reason a haki user like luffy was having a hard time sensing her was because she was the snow. also what if haki users are also able to suppress their energies? if it was already confirmed that they can or cant please let me know.
regardless the animation was decent
the pacing was nice (but funimations player was being an ass to me so i had trouble watching)
and overall things were just nice. 8/10could have been a tad but better but for what it was. the episode was great.

T'was a good episode I must say, I enjoyed it thoroughly. Toei been doing pretty all right lately, let's hope they can keep it up for these upcoming fights and stuff.

An okay chapter. The pacing was a little too slow; the title of the episode made no-sense whatsoever; the Monet v Luffy fight was silly; the drugged out children are kinda annoying to no end. However, the Vergo v Law fight was surprisingly good for a one-side fight, and Smoker's entry was bad ass. Interestingly, does anyone else get the impression that Monet and Vergo seem way stronger than their manga counterparts? I mean, in the manga you know that Law lost the fight, but the anime made it seem like he got raped [raw and bloody] with a [hard as steel] bamboo stick.

I enjoyed that, but there were a lot of scenes I'd been looking forward to. I think I could probably watch Law get beaten up for hours on end… (not that I hate his character or anything, it's just a bit different from how haughty he normally is). Luffy against Monet was making me remember back to the Usopp fight when she mentioned how the strongest doesn't always win. Then (parts of) that fall were nicely animated - now I'm stuck waiting again!

The first half was meh. Not a fan of the extended Monet stuff and I definitely wasn't a fan of Monster Point getting overwhelmed by brats on withdrawal in the manga either. Second half was a lot better. Enjoyed seeing Vergo get the better of Law, and the animation was on-point.
Smoker's grand entrance was so badass.

Law and Vergo fight kicked off GREATLY.Got me all hyped and shit.
Then the kids , ok whatever i didnt liked them in the manga either.Personally i could watch them dying all day long specially Mocha.Luffy vs Monet was cool although they still make Luffy look a bit shitty and weak.
Then Law vs Vergo again was amazing and the fight was directed to good on EVERYTHING , and Vice SWAGMIRAL'S SMOKER INTRO WAS AMAZING.

About 5 minutes in, Vergo said he wasn't going to crush Law's heart because he wanted to kill him more brutally. Later in the episode though, he squeezed Law's heart several times…

Crushing Law's heart would make Law die instantly.Just squeezing it for some seconds however brings TONS OF PAIN and law doesnt die as well.

Good points:
! - Extended Monet fight. First of all it doesn't show Luffy as weak. At least no more than moment where Caeasr suffocated 1/3 of SH and whole New World regiment of marines (or tea party with Miss Goldenweek). Monet goal was to stall and outsmart him, and she did just that using her powers (and not tumblr-logic like in her other fight).
! - Vergo vs Law. Great fast pacedbeatingextended fight.Bad points:
! - LAW'S RED WORLD OF TORTURE AND PAIN - that was a bit unsettling to watch, especially for one with heart condition.
! - Today Vergo was fast. Next week animation looks a bit slow.At least everyone stayed in their pants today.

This was another very enjoyable episode. I didn't initially care for the battle w/ Monet, but the anime actually made it more chilling imo, especially w/ the voice acting and music. And Law vs. Vergo was simply awesome! It was amazingly brutal! Smoker's entrance was also great! At this point, for me, the children are really starting to get on my nerves. To hell w/ not harming them, Chopper should've done to them what he did to Kumadori in that form. They're freakin' giants, they're being unreasonably violent, and they're going through withdrawals…they probably won't even care to feel physical pain since all they have in candy on their minds. But meh, manga had it that way too, so ain't gonna complain about this one aspect. So far the current episodes have been great imo. Punk Hazard is shaping up to be a great arc so far! Keep it up Toei and don't drop the ball!

This episode furthers my belief that every scene in the show that involves someone kicking someone or something should be handed off to Ishizuka. The man just knows how to animate those scenes. And he made Counter Shock actually look good this time, great even. Suck it, Deguchi.

I like the fight scene, and how they put emphasis on the heart thing. Vergo was clearly using that to his advantage and it really helps show how the rookies have changed. He didn't take the chance for Law to use room.

This was a great episode. All was extremely well done.
Laws most disadvantage is his lack of speed. When the actions get faster than normal speed, he is too slow.

So does that mean next week is Robin/Chopper/Nami vs Monet? Because that certainly needs an extended scene to make up for things.

Is it just me or is does Toei draw Luffy Post-time skip shorter than usual? I haven't seen a lot of the anime post-skip (prefer the Manga much more after the skip),and I'm not surprised Monet is is taller than him, but he just looked so kiddy compared to everyone else sans Chopper/kids…

Maybe he was just trying to wake himself up by randomly destroying something, maybe he was trying to escape from her (even though she was completely vulnerable at the time), like I said, idk…I guess it is kind of absurd how he fell like that.
...But in Oda's defense, the manga did have it as just a straight fall to a very deep bottom, no ventilation system to climb back up on like it had shown in the anime.

Nice episode! Not too much plot development but sometimes it's just fun to watch characters nuke it out in quality animation. Monet and Vergo are just damn awesome! :happy:

! when Luffy got frozen by Monet, then the Zoro warning Luffy to stay focused flashback kicks in bringing Luffy to his senses and using his Haki to break free was pretty cool, shame he fell into a garbage pit….
The kids are getting annoying, damn kids why can't they just grow up already.
Best bit of the episode by far was…
! Law vs Vergo and Smoker to the rescue, well animated….and by god Law lost his hat, I liked that hat.

It's not Toei, Luffy's "kiddyfication" is a well known part of Oda's art changing over time. They're just following the source. He used to look taller in the manga too.

he was trying to escape from the igloo,as long as he was inside that,onet can still do wahtever she wants with him..also,he needed to warm up his body,and inside the igloo with monet inside the temperature was probably extremely low even without monet hugging him

Great episode and so well done. I must give it to Toei, they have some very talented people in their team that can make many scenes of the manga that much stronger in the anime and you can feel them better. The whole thing with Brownbeared in the anime made us feel sad for what happened to him, the whole kids problem well emphasizes the moral dilemma of fighting children that fight you ferociously back just because they aren't blinded by a withdraw effect of a drug. I felt that the SH's don't want to hurt them at all but they can't keep this, it is either to hurt them badly or let them kill themselves with a drug.
and finally, the whole Law scene with Vergo, just a red filter and some extended scenes, and Toei gets you with a painful scene. I love the manga so far, but the anime sometimes has such a strong punch to it.On a different note, someone doesn't like being hugged :wub: (though the innuendo potentials are limitless :ninja:)

The fight with monet though, after some thought it makes a lot of sense because when you are freezing your brain can barely function properly. (which was somewhat stated before when they got their jackets from Brownbeared's crew)

Nice episode, I liked it. 8/10 I'd give. The only downside is the scenes of children, I find them a bit boring to be honest. The rest was nice.

Vergo vs Law was brutal ( especially that kick oh that kick ), and as everybody said Smoker's entrance was handled pretty damn well. By what I see on the preview Smoker vs Vergo is going to be above average too, I'm actually looking forward to the next episodes so Toei better not disappoint me.

That scene of Vergo squeezing Law's heart was scary. You've gotta hand it to the Anime team, all it took was a red filter and some shaking, and things got disturbing.

I think i'm going to be the only one to mention Mocha here. Anyone get a laugh when Chopper was monologuing how Mocha was helping, and (like 14 minutes in) we get a shot of her standing. I just find it funny how she has this intensity and focus in her eyes, and she's standing motionless, ready to fight anything that's coming her way–all while holding onto a giant piece of candy. She's trying so hard yet looks completely out of her depth. It's probably my favorite image of this episode.
I also liked how they extended Monet freezing Luffy into unconsciousness. That's filler done right.

Well…anyway, from what everyone's been telling me, Luffy was in fact just trying to escape from the snow dome. Even though I think he could've chosen an arguably better alternative (attack Monet while she's off guard), I suppose escaping via a giant hole in the floor works just fine given his situation as well.

The animation looked fantastic to me, I especially loved any and all fight scenes as well as Monet and Luffy's battle. I didn't expect it to look so beautiful. Hopefully they can maintain this quality for the next few episodes.
