@Battle:
I'm torn on this episode, while T-Bone vs. Zoro duel was well animated and well executed. Though, I felt mildly let down with 'Decoupage' and 'Ultimate Hammer' scenes, two of my all-time favourite spreads in the manga just looked average animated, I think the majority of the episode budget was blown out earlier.
I loved the scene with Soge hiding out in Robin's cloak, his nose popping out the side of the hood (out of context contender for sure) Moving onto the next episode, I have grave fears for the art/animation quality, looks like it's set to take a major dive, I'm not talking B-team here, more like F-team (FAIL-TEAM) as this cap clearly shows:

 I know I've had issues with how they've drawn Robin in the past, but my God….! that's just freakin' ghastly. [qimg]http://img111.imageshack.us/img111/8820/sick4sl.gif[/qimg]
Ok, frist of all how bad are her eyes? Can someone tell me how bad the drawing is because that is excalty how Oda draws it.
-
That's not how Oda draws Robin at all, even by Toei standards it's exceptionally sloppy. The art in that particular scene is inconsistent with how Toei would normally draw Robin. Because like with the large majority of anime, especially the long running series, the animation can be handled by two or more studios with the quality of the art/animation differing amongst the teams.
You see these kind of differences in many anime series, and quite frequently in One Piece, because the anime is constantly juggled between studios. Sometimes it's quite subtle and in others not so subtle, and imo this being one of those not so subtle times.
-
The anime has been like that since 244, I think. Still entertaining, but it's funny when a character strikes a pose like they did in the manga and looks all crappy and nothing like what they should.

But how does that answer the question on what is wrong with that picture? I'm not good in animation and I don't know how to tell the differance so my point is can you tell me what is wrong with the way Robin looks at that picture, her face is wide? How is her eyes poorly done? That's my qustion ;)
-
Well, saiyaman finally released 261, but it seems to be the same file as the l33t-raws release.

Are you kidding me? You can't find the diffirence between those two pictures? First of all, the overall balance of the face is wrong. Robin face is much softer…. not stiff. Eyebrowes are too dark, the space between eyes and the eyebrows are too small, lips are too thick, and I can list more and more.
The animators change each week, and if you watch them carefully you will be able to tell the difference between the good animators and bad ones. Some of them are really good, like the ones in the ending theme "Ashitawa Kurukara." Actually, epi 260 was not bad either. But 261 clearly gave me a wierd feelings.

when will 262 raw come out?

when will 262 raw come out?
This Sunday.
Right, as shuvy87 points out, the balance of her face looks all wrong and also there's an unnatural like stiffness in her face that makes her resemble a cardboard cutout of herself, rather than her normal self. Which just really flies in the face (ahem) of how she's normally drawn.
I'd just chalk it down to sloppy art by a B-grade studio, simple as that. It's not the first time crude or inconsistent art like this has slipped through & it certainly won't be the last.
Anyways…. new episode title:
04/30 #263 司法の島! エニエス・ロビー!
The Judiciary Island, Enies Lobby! :ninja:
(Anime breaks)
23rd of April & 7th of May.
-
5th of May is a Friday. how can there be a break, if there normally never airs One Piece?^^
-
Ah, sorry my bad, it's 7th of May.

I'm seeing a pattern here. If my theory is correct, One Piece will air every 2 weeks.
-
Well, on the plus side, if they are going to a bi-weekly format, that means no filler ever again.
You forgot Jango….. btw he isn't a bad voice actor though...
Well.... you know anime is catching up the manga... they need to waste time some how...
Whole drawing was bad this week....That's ridiculous. At this point, the manga is almost a year ahead. And since January, they've skipped more weeks than they have actually had new episodes.
I'm wondering if the extra long recap wasn't because this was technically the last episode of the Water 7 arc before the start of the Enies Lobby arc and they wanted to recap the entire thing.

It is not a year ahead. If 1 episode of anime = 2 chapters of manga, then the manga is leading by about 4 month. Then the anime needs about 7 month in order to catch up to the manga.

Anime just aired epi 373/374 (of manga), and 406 just came out yesturday. Manga is ahead by 27 manga episodes. To be on safe side, there's has to to be lag between anime and manga by at least 50-70 manga episodes.
I do not know if know this, the reason Rurouni Kenshin's anime went complete different path (from the second half) was that anime caught up with the manga. We do not want to OP to face the same fate, or do you?
-
Well Enies Lobby is a pretty good opportunity for filler material. The Strawhats and the Franky family run into a few obstacles and general nutballs, the anime staff can add in a few more.
It will be tedious and sucky, but it would be the best option.

Chapter 406 came out last week.
-
Erm, people, Toei is not Studio Pierrot. Don't forget some episodes barely used 1 manga chapter. People talk about the anime catching up since Davy Back Fight started, but 1 year and a half later, it remains 30-35 chapters behind - the same as then.

This is only temporary. Once W7 ends, they will get back to a Weekly Format. And yes, with filler.
-
I expect some filler arcs after this Enies Lobby arc is animated.
-
I still want Splash Page filler, dammit.
-
@The:
I still want Splash Page filler, dammit.
Well, that wouldn't technically wouldn't be filler, but I agree with you.
There is no reason why they couldn't do that the same way they set up Buggy, with Luffy wondering what happened to him.
-
Chapter 406 came out last week.
Official release of Shonen Jumps' 406 in japan was Monday, not the week before.
AP forum always get the new episode one week early (the thursday before) from officially release.
-
Is their ONE PIECE 2nyt?
-

Well 162 turned out to be pretty disappointing. There were so many cool scenes in the manga covered in those chapters (like Franky doing all the poses behind Sanji), but the studio struck out on just about everything. Too bad. Mnah, see for yourselves soon enough.
-
Will be watching very shortly.
Thinking of doing a torrent. Though my upload's 512 kbps, so distro will be slow.
Well, I hope this works.
-
Thanks alot, Battle Franky and Happy Easter everyone!
-
The torrent is going fine for me, and yea, Happy Easter.
-
It's going fine for me too. Happy Easter as well everyone.
-
Unlike what we thought from the preview, this episode was not bad at all. I found it awesome! There were very few bad drawings. Au contraire! Nero wiped out by Lucci, Sogeking's escape plan, Sanji's Concassé, Blueno's devil fruit… Those scenes were really well done! And the voice acting was top notch. Luffy screaming at Yokozuna and Lucci's laugh were impressive. The only drawback is how little was covered. I thought Puffing Tom would at least have reached Enies Lobby. But it ends with Blueno surprising Sanji.
We'll definitely see Enies Lobby next episode (in 2 weeks). I hope we'll get to hear the new voices too. Though they might keep that scene for later, so the voice actors don't have to come in 3 episodes for 2-3 lines each time.
-
Could somebody seed that torrent, if possible? I only have 20 mins left, and since I'll be going out, I was just going to let it seed.
EDIT: Never mind. It finished. Seeding.
-
My school's network hates the site. Torrent doesn't load at all. Someone wanna upload to yousendit and pm me?
-
I got mine from greedland : http://bt.greedland.net (rmvb subtitled in chinese). Plenty seeders there.
-
I prefer raws (no subs (unless english))
-
Well, no new One Piece next week. On the 30th, there'll be one.
Here's the episode title:
The Judiciary Island!
Enies Lobby -
I really enjoyed the episode, a bit slow which is understandable because of the time between manga and the anime. But overall the episode was really nice, I liked how they animated Sanji's moves and Blueno's fruit. The little door sound effect was a really nice touch.
-
Did Wanze the Bishounen appear?
-
He appeared in episode 261, Malintex_Terek.
-
That was last episode.
-
Did Wanze the Bishounen appear?
If I am understanding you correctly, Wanze appeared back in episode 258 for the first time. heh
-
Nice episode, better than the preview made it look. Blueno appearence at the end was creepy, very well done. I just don't like the way they animate (or don't) some moves, like Kaku kicking Sanji. Too much static. But Concase was great.
Oh, thanks BF for the torrent! -
I've been thinking about it for a while, but how does this concasse work? Unless his arm is rotating as well, Sanji's got one crazy shoulder.
Edit: Errm looking at it again. His arm's just spinning crazy fast, isn't it. That's a hard technique to pull off then..
Thanks for the torrent BF, I'm seeding it now (yay)
-
I guess you can kinda look at it like how Breakdancers spin on their heads, except Sanji uses his arm. heh
-
I really liked this episode, it's probably the best overall episode imo since the Luffy/Usopp fight. The pacing was great and the music was used for the right places. The scenes it added to what the manga had were great, especially the Sogeking part. I give this ep an A.
-
Is it finally daytime in 263?
-
Is there a site or a forum topic here that lists the weekly ratings for One Piece? I'm a little concerned that the biweekly format is going to affect the show's ratings.
-
If I am understanding you correctly, Wanze appeared back in episode 258 for the first time. heh
he meant the cool-faced wanze not the geek-faced one
