However I was just trying to explain that if you blame the AF joke then do it for the right things and not for things it doesn´t have anything to do with. And the absence of the raw obviously has nothing to do with it since they never came out saturdays. :biggrin:

I'm torn on this episode, while T-Bone vs. Zoro duel was well animated and well executed. Though, I felt mildly let down with 'Decoupage' and 'Ultimate Hammer' scenes, two of my all-time favourite spreads in the manga just looked average animated, I think the majority of the episode budget was blown out earlier. :closedeyes:
I loved the scene with Soge hiding out in Robin's cloak, his nose popping out the side of the hood (out of context contender for sure)
Moving onto the next episode, I have grave fears for the art/animation quality, looks like it's set to take a major dive, I'm not talking B-team here, more like F-team (FAIL-TEAM) as this cap clearly shows:
:blink: I know I've had issues with how they've drawn Robin in the past, but my God….! that's just freakin' ghastly.

btw, this week's drawing was horrible. As soon as I saw Zoro, I knew it was going to turn out to be bad. The animetion was not bad, but the drawing were just.... I don't even want to comment.

Animation was fluid but drawings were really crappy. It reminded me of some Naruto episodes (30, 71, 133). Looks like episode will have both crappy drawings and animation… I don't really understand Toei. It's like back on W7, when they animated the CP9 assault perfectly, then screwed up on the main fight between the SH and them. Here, perfect animation on Rocket Man and the beginning of the fights on Puffing Tom, then screw up again when getting to the most dramatic part. And I bet we'll get dazzling animation when they arrive at Enies Lobby before the battle... :blink:
Lucci hasn't had much luck animated. When he was introduced with Paulie, when we saw his devil fruit and now when he's facing Sanji and Franky, the drawings were meh...

Wanze the Bishounen ranks as one of the funniest non-Strawhat scenes because it's utterly out of context for Oda; sure, seeing well-drawn characters in a relaxed-style manga like Bobobo or Negima is nice, but it's a first for Oda and I do not think the animation reflects the "impact" of the manga incarnation.

I felt the opposite. I liked the Sanji/Sogeking/Franky parts very much, but the whole T-bone part could have been much better. First his running on the tracks was more tragic and intensive in the manga. The voice actor couldn't quite match the pain of the character.(just like Gan Fall)
Then the actual fight could have been slower, like two "true" swordsman facing each other and the surrounding world becomes silent, slow motion and mysterious like it did with Rashomon. They could have shown Zoros final attack twice, once slow and impressive in the mysterious world, and once fearsome and explosive in real time.
Then T-bone falling into the ocean could have used some tragic music fitting to a true hero failing.
Then Zanbai covering up Zoro looked so gay. Mozu should have done that.
But most of all annoyed me the scene with T-bone drifting in the ocean. In the manga we never knew what happened to T-bone afterwards, which made his fate much more tragic and concerning and his future return much more glorious.
He could be unconscious drowning and severely injured, which makes it so important for his man to hurry if they want to save him.
Or he could be crying over his failure to bring justice to this unjust world.
Or he could be angry and ashamed that he allowed an evil pirate to pass, which will cause more innocent blood to be shed.
Or he could mourn the loss of his sword, which was probably a very close friend.
But instead they show him drifting without injury waiting for his man to pick him up and saying something about Zoro (maybe praise or capitulate?) which somehow excludes a second chance. -

I think its the shadow's under her nose, and her angry expression. It makes her look kinda weird.

sometimes i think people are too harsh on the quality of the anime as i always found the drawings pretty bad, so there is no use to argue wether it's good or bad, it IS bad.
But this one ep particularly sucked, while we had 2 awesome 3/4 spreads by oda, toei completely fucked them up. sanji's final blow (whatever the name) looked like a half assed kick and zoro vs t-bone, while having a few things well animated, just looking at zoro's face when he goes up on the train again nearly made me vomit.

Pretty damn neat episode. The highlight was pretty much Zoro's confrontation with T-Bone, which really kicked intricate amounts of ass. Sanji's defeat of Wanze, and his consecutive blasting through doors was awesome too. The animation looked great in some parts (Zoro's battle) and less good in some others. The Ultimate Hammer (And to a lesser extent, the three point decoupage) really lacked the oomph they had in the manga, though. But overall, not many complaints here.
Except for the voice acting. Man. T-Bone's weak performance really smacked some scenes flat, which was pretty disappointing. If he just would've had the guts to raise his voice just the tiniest bit besides just this ''hey look at me I'm talking into a microphone oh deary me I can hear myself oooohhh'' type of crap it would've vastly improved everything.
I could say the same for Wanze's voice, but for different reasons. In several ways, the voice suits his character, but the performance is just really quite bad. Impact pretty much isn't there and the flow of his talking feels really unnatural and not-serious-takeable and the like.
Oh well.

Actually, I thought all the "Finishers" this episode were very nicely done- especially Decoupage. I can't see how else the anime could've handled it; They couldn't let Sanji have 4 legs on screen for very long.
I only have 4 complaints:
- As many have said, T-bones Seiyuu is pretty half-assed.
- Zoros "hiruzume" was nearly a whisper before the attack; I caught myself thinking "isn't he supposed to say more than that?" It should've been said with Gusto!
- The "CP9ers look at Sanji" scene was entirely too long.
- Frankys' face was butt ugly a lot of the time, and looked like Mr 2.

Well, you can easily find which manga chapter is out just by looking in the manga forum. The latest chapter is always stickied. I don't think anyone has subbed 261 yet.
