So next week is chapter 593 it looks like. I hope Inoue's stuff isn't outsourced to death this time like episode 500 was.
apparently Inoue is doing half of chapter 593 and half of chapter 594, skipping the supernova stuff and ending with the Straw Hats getting the message. Or maybe they're doing the World Goverment stuff along with the supernova. It makes more sense.

Huh, that episode covered a lot more material than I thought it would. It was pretty enjoyable. Kong sounds kind of like he's voiced by Kizaru's seiyuu.
Also, I liked how they made a point to show that Luffy was doing everything he did at Marineford right in front of the press, because when I was reading this stuff in the manga, I thought ''what if they couldn't get a clear shot of his arm? Then Rayleigh's plan would be fubar'd''.

Kong, Coby, the Elders talking about Blackbeard, Aokiji and Smoker, Urouge, Hawkins, Capone, and Kid's New World scenes…actual depiction of Luffy Jimbei and Rayleigh buzzing Marineford...I think that's all.

Wow, great episode. They covered lot's of stuff, also great art by Ishizuka. Directing was fantastic, and the pacing was perfect.
Only nitpick is the final scene. No Blood.

Maybe that's partially why the 16 rings of the bell? To reinforce the idea of two years?
Anyway, overall I thought it was a well done episode. I thought what little filler there was complemented the storyline nicely, and wasn't overly annoying. Overall a nice episode
OMG.
Just… where do I even begin? Such a fantastic episode in all aspects. I wasn't expecting anything but Marineford material so you can guess how blown away I was by this episode.
-Gorousei/Five Elder Stars were drawn perfectly, just what I asked for. Thank you thank thank you thank you x100 Toei!
-The scenes from the Supernovas previewing the New World were - and I don't say this a lot - much better than their manga counterpart (except Eustass's but whatev).
-The beginning of Marineford expanding on what happened was as perfect as I could have possibly imagined it.
-Brandnew and the news chamber scene was transitioned into professionally with the seagulls going around the world to familiar places.
-side note: Luffy was a total badass this episode. Silent badassery is something I am partial to.
If it were possible I would love that director to become the main one of One Piece. The direction and pacing is what impressed me most this episode.
Other than some really ugly Rayleigh animation at the beginning, I enjoyed this episode.

This episode was phenomenal.
I thought the whole episode was going to Marineford implied filler, but boy, was I wrong.
Not only did we get the Gorosei scene, but Coby's scene, Kong and Sengoku's conversation, Smoker and Aokiji's scene, and most of the Supernovas appearances.
It was a treat seeing Kid, Urouge, and Hawkins again.
The implied Marineford filler was really excellent. I liked how the marines were still scared of Luffy, and he was just walking past them like a pimp.
Did anyone else chuckle when Aokiji said "Don't mind it"?
Wow. Like most others, I wasn't expecting all that material, and was expecting filler mostly. Glad I was wrong! Also, what exactly did Rayleigh do to those cannons? >_>
Every episode of One Piece should be this good.

This was a really good episode. Best part was the 3D2Y stuff. Ever since I saw that in the manga I said to myself "They need to expand on that, I need to see this fully" and I got my wish. This is good One Piece filler. Not when they do a chapter an episode and expand it by having ridiculous dialog repeating the same thing fifty times, but expanding on a scene that was talked about, but never seen. The filler reporters weren't annoying, didn't take up any screen time, and helped cement the view of an average person in the One Piece world.
Like seeing the Marines again, just pretty average but it was a good way to spend a good part of the episode. The Supernova stuff though….just made me bored. It's probably just since I've read this in the manga, so I knew what to expect since this whole part was supposed to give glimpses of the New World islands, and manga readers have scene these for a while...and not really scene much of the New World since.
Also someone needs to explain to me what the FUCK is with the bits of dust or debris flying around in the background. I've been very pissed with this since Impel Down where every close up of a character had a single-color background with this black stuff just flying in the background. I knocked it off as debris or dust but it pissed me off nonetheless all of Impel Down and the Marineford arc. But now, really!? Inside a building? Have these old men not bathed enough that enough dirt is coming off of them to fly around in the background? Why do these five old men carry with them the same amount of dirt that is flying around in the background of a war ground full of dirty pirates and Marines?
Also someone needs to explain to me what the FUCK is with the bits of dust or debris flying around in the background. That was possibly the best handled episode of the entire war, I think.
The expansion scenes were fantastic additions, there were no points at which it dragged.
Art slightly off at some points, Rayleigh and Hawkins looked rather odd, but I didn't mind because they expanded the Supernova scenes a bit more too.
I was horribly afraid they would censor Kid's crucifying the other pirates, but not only did they not censor it, they made it the featured ending scene! (Which I felt was an improvement over the manga's chapter end of Urouge and the umbrella woman. More suspense)
Overall, that was just awesome.
Wow now that was a great episode. I am loving it. I really hope they expand on the other Straw Hats and we get some bonus materal that wasn't in the manga

Indeed, there is a difference between fair criticism and pointless criticism. Fair criticism is when one complains about something that actually has an impact: ie. that they butchered a scene, or changed something unnecessarily like Whitebeard's face being melted off etc.
Pointless criticism is when people nitpick over things that do not matter, ie. the level of detail in the backgrounds in a talking scene. Unless the background itself has a direct impact on what they are talking about (ie, house burning down, war going on etc) complaining about not going all out on it is stupid. There are things called budgets. It makes more sense to save the details for action scenes instead of putting detailed background in a freaking talking scene set in a static room. It's the kind of call a smart animation supervisor makes.

Uh, those "debris" are there to give a dramatic effect, i guess. It's been used since Water 7 at least, possibly Skypiea or even earlier, i don't remember. It's a trademark of the series at this point, so it's a bit late to complain about that.
In fact, if you pay close attention, you'll notice that Oda does use it in the manga too. So blame him if you will..

Uhh, I've seen that same thing in the manga too though. Maybe Toei overuses it or whatever, I have no idea, but it is something also in the source material.

Wow, I wasn't expecting this much stuff crammed into this episode at all. I started it up thinking "let's see how they stretch this marineford scene over an entire episode."
Pretty cool episode I have to say. They held true to the canon material quite well. I was getting scared that the crucifixion scene was cut, but they came back and covered it nicely. The Marineford scene wasn't stretched out too long, and it expanded on the material quite nicely. All the canon stuff was well represented, too. I'm quite pleasantly surprised with this.
I'm also surprised that the crew is already back in the next episode. It looks like it will be partial filler and partial canon.

Dude, it was a one paragraph complaint following two paragraphs of praise (or maybe 1.5 and 1.5). Relax. So someone has something they'd like to see done a little better/differently. It's not a big deal. People complain about the manga too.
And he's not saying they had to go all out. He's saying he didn't think a certain effect fit properly with certain scenes. It's not something to get hung up over, but it's not something to get upset at someone for pointing out, either.
Excellent episode.
Could not believe how much they crammed in, all done with excellent art and animation.
The music was perfectly used as well, I cant remember the last time I didn't have the OST blaring in the background and we only had the noise of the background or just silence being used. Take that scene where Aokiji talks to Smoker, you didn't hear anything except them talk and the guys working outside.
The only thing I'm concerned about is how close they've gotten to the New World arc, whats going to happen between now and October? Hopefully not filler training, because that would be terrible , its something that OP has consistently avoided over the years and Id like it to remain that way

I've seen it the manga, but I guess I'm angry just because by Marineford, it seemed like it was being used EVERY EPISODE, and the way it was used. It was used for dramatic effect, but it was in those padded out conversations or self narratives that lasted much longer then they should have.
