What do I need to make this possible, and how do I go about doing this?
Just for the record, I have Windows 7. And don't tell me to go to a store or request a service (copyrighted videos are what I'm dealing with)

If I may ask why exactly do you want to do this?
~~I just know that various shops that sell DVDs can make VHS to DVDs on request, if that helps. They also transfer copyrighted movies and stuff (at least the ones I talked to).
We did this with the videos of my sister's and my baptism.
The quality was ok, but not all that great. The videos were - obviously - very old, so maybe that's why.~~

Because when was the last time you saw a VHS on the shelf of a store?
They're considered "obsolete" these days.
Well I don't see the point of going through the trouble of trying to transfer them from one medium to another when you could either buy a DVD, of if you don't want to spend the money, just download the damn things.

Well, maybe those are videos you can't buy (see the example I gave in my first post here).
Oh okay. I was thinking this was for more movies and stuff but yeah I see your point.

… you seem to be right and I seem to be blind.
Just ignore me~
What you will need is a VHS player and then buy a program with a set of cables for computer transfers (Diamond Video Capture, being one of them).
Thereafter you will play the vhs and it will be recorded onto the computer.
