On August 10 of 2019, humanity received a signal, which was verified for its integrity by hundreds of scientists, from an alien life form containing one message: let us meet on Mars on July 7, 2035. Thus began the creation of a space agency representing Earth as a whole named ST&RS. From there, things progressed quickly with man re-landing on the moon in 2022 and constructing many space stations orbiting Earth and the moon. The Space Academy was created to train the upcoming generation of ST&RS.
The same August 10th that Earth received the message, Shirafune Maho spoke his first words and it was “Mars.” Since then, Maho has been an astronomy freak who has nothing but the universe on his mind. He decides he is going to apply for the Space Academy along with his childhood friend, Hoshihara Meguru, and recent transfer and super smart classmate, Amachi Wataru. The trio begins their almost impossible journey of being accepted into the school where only 1% of the applicants are allowed into the academy.

About time someone made this, I was gonna make one if no one else did.
-
I only read the first chapter. It's alright, I guess.
-
I've been reading this weekly since chapter 1, and I'm loving it.
Just like how most of us read One Piece on Mangastream first, i prefer to read it on Clockworklies.com, where it's translated first, they have a good reader too. -
What an interesting and creative series. Really keeps you guessing and the main characters are all likeable.
-
I really like the series. My favorite new series this year.
-
I have liked it so far.
I am curious as to how fast the meet up with the aliens will come. There are just so many possible story lines once the aliens are introduced that it makes me wonder what direction they will take it in. I hope it does well enough, for long enough, to get that far.
-
Hm…I've read through the chapters and remain unconvinced. It could get good since the setting is interesting, but right now the characters are completely one dimensional.
-
Why does the cover character look so much like Sena from Eyeshield? It's not the same artist for sure.
-
Chinese scanlate of chapter 7 can be found here.

Now that you mention it, Miyokawa's art does resemble Murata's, especially how he draws faces, noses and mouthes. But overall the art feels a bit more lighter and softer.

Chapter 7 is out.
-
i'm getting borred with the series
-
I love series that depict intrepid men and women of science in such a positive light. Especially now that we get to see these characters at their bravest and most cunning.
-
I'd like to see something besides his ability to comprehend space soon.
-
Haha the aliens have to travel exactly or a little less than lightspeed, because the girl said the signal came from the place where's the Auriga and the Gemini are.(their nearest star is ~21 and ~18 lightyears away from here respectively)
-
Pretty great so far. I have a feeling it's going to be popular and become a big thing in Japan.
-
Up to chapter 14 is out:
[http://manga.clockworklies.com/reader/read/strs/en/0/8/T](http://manga.clockworklies.com/reader/read/strs/en/0/8/)he last 2 chapters seem to really start things. 13 is my favorite chapter so far and 14 had some big revelations.
I really hope Jump hives the series a chance to establish itself :(
-
I'm really getting hooked now. If this series goes the way of Oumaga I will lose all faith in the JUMP ranking system.

Well, it'll take 18-21 years for the signal to reach Earth and they were already moving towards Mars then that means they don't have to travel at near lightspeed but at least half light speed, which by itself is pretty dam fast nonetheless.
-
Spaaaaaaace.
In other words this is a pretty unique manga. The characters aren't that original, but the plot is pretty interesting and I hope it won't get cancelled.
-
Chapter 15 is out.
! I must say, it's a tad contrived that Izumi just happens to be paired alongside Maho (as opposed to spending the chapter getting over her anxiety). That being said, I like her character and look forward to the two's interactions. She's something of a protagonistic foil to Maho, making the both of them more interesting.

! Maybe Fifi had something to do with that?
-
Lol I kind of wish Izumi were the protagonist. Maho doesn't have as much going on, character-wise.
-
Chapter 19.
! Fucking aliens, man. No consideration. Can't wait to see her come into her own.
-
Nice bit of backstory for Maho and Meguru. I always just sort of assumed Maho was crazy about space from the very beginning.
-
I'm becoming more and more interested in this series now, too bad I'm caught up again.
-
The second volume sold less than 13,000 copies.
Just get over with it and put it out of its misery, Jump.
-
This post is deleted!

Those are kind of harsh words. Despite it's lack of popularity, ST&RS is quite good nonetheless. When every next chapter can end up being the last one - especially when the #10 issue in which new series usually start is so close and chapter 26 having this LIFDOFF sensation - I can't help but appreciate it even more while it lasts.
-
I didn't say it wasn't good, I like it. But the manga IS going to get cancelled soon enough, they won't keep it for long with low popularity ranking and such low sales.
-
Maybe JUMP's editorial department favors this manga over other like-wise low ranking manga? I mean, this manga does have some educational value… or maybe there's just no other interesting manga for serialization.... Anyway, I would be grateful if this manga continues... Even though I think the characterization is weak, the plot does make up for it....

Their opinion doesn't matter if it doesn't sale.

I get the feeling that it would do better in a different magazine. It doesn't feel like a story most of JUMP's typical readership would really go for. I never really thought that it was going to be that long, anyway. That said, even if it is cut short, I hope that it still manages to adequately explain some things I'm curious about, like why is Space Lenin so perpetually angry, and why was
! Amachi possessed by aliens?

I'm really, really, really enjoying this series. It's a shame it's been over a month since the last scanlated chapter was posted. -___-
