NBA Season 2013-2014

Last season was the most exciting injury train wreck ever. But now the teams are getting healthier and there's a handful of contenders to steal the crown!

The usual suspects (Miami, San Antonio, OKC) didn't change much and are ready for long postseasons. The upper class teams(Clippers, Pacers) got deeper and definitely closed the gap on the front-runners. And some teams (Chicago, Houston, Brooklyn) are going to be much much improved.

Also, let's have a moment of silence for the teams quickly falling off the map (Lakers, Mavericks, Nuggets, my Celtics)

Anyways, I can't wait for this season to start!!

I find it utterly ridiculous that HEat/Spurs aren't playing each other on Christmas day. Adam Silver needs to make the tradition of a NBA finals rematch on the biggest sports day of the year for basketball

Nah they have shit on all the Knicks teams that existed under Isiah Thomas. But yeah Knicks fans might as well get used to their team being perrenially playoff bound with a 1st or 2nd round exit. Well except for this year where they'll probably miss the playoffs.

I voted Miami but I am actually hoping either the Pacers or Chicago to knock them out.

Chicago's threat level to Miami in a best of seven depends on how they utilize Rose. Will they use(overuse is the proper term) him on scoring like he did during his MVP year? If that's the case, I like the Pacers' chances better.

Aggrrrrrhhh. Why can't I vote on this poll? Seriously, when will I get my voting privileges? Anyway, I'm a hardcore Nets ever since the Big Three of Vince Carter, Richard Jefferson and Jason Kidd. I'll be rooting for them this year.

My old favorite player, Andrei Kirilenko, is on the Nets. I would like to root for them.

It's just, half the players in the NBA I loathe are also on the Nets.

KG, Stackhouse, Evans, Blatche, on some days Pierce, and especially–especially–Deron Williams, who I regard as one of the more over-rated PGs in the league.

Plus I don't particularly like the game of Brook Lopez or Joe Johnson.

Young, good guys? lol. Humphries got buried on the bench by Blatche and Evans. Wallace just sucks. Bogans was barely used and not even young anymore.

I'll give you Brooks, he's ok. But his role got diminished last year, the Nets weren't going to be a good place for him.

Humphries was great the year before. He was probably distracted by Kim Kardashian. Wallace is a good, physical guy who can defend good guys. Brooks was a rising star. The guys from the Celtics will just hurt the Nets

It's true that I'm a big Celtic-hater but I do see the upgrades that the Nets have made. My problem is that these moves of getting the players will only help the short-term not in the long-term

Eh, I just find Iso-Joe to be pretty boring. Career average of 41.7% on Field Goals, more of a volume scorer…Not my type. Brook's a very good player, but I'm not a huge fan of his defensive game.

Deron Williams is a very good PG who, for some reason, still gets considered a superstar worthy of treating as a miniature GM. Something like Stephon Marbury.

That's the thing. If the Nets was under a good GM, then, the Nets would still be good right now. Honestly, the first thing they should do is to trade away Joe Johnson for rising rookies because Joe Johnson is good when he has is in control of his own team.

You can't trade Johnson and improve as a team at this point. He has one of the worst contracts in the league. Prokhorov is in win-now mode and breaking the bank in the process

Agree with all of the points.
I think Joe works best as a second or even third option(Circa Phoenix Suns 04-05), he went to the Hawks and got force-fed. Pretty good player, terrible contract though.

Pretty sure there's supposed to be an "if" in there somewhere. Since the Nets are never winning a championship as they are now.

Yeah, too many things have to go their way for them to even get out of the East, much less win it all. And it doesn't help that their centerpieces (Williams and Lopez) might just be their most injury-prone players.

So apparently the reasons for why Dwight Howard wouldn't re-sign with the Lakers is because the team wouldn't acquiesce to two of his demands. One of which was to fire D'Antoni and the other being to put amnesty on Kobe. I wonder if Dwight has had his system checked for drugs when he ran this idea.

The D'Antoni demand wasn't much of a surprise to me since he got SVG fired, arguably the coach that made the most out of Dwight and made him, or at least made him seemed, great. But amnestying Kobe? That's pretty dumb. A dick of a demand by a dick of a player. Yeah, he's in a better situation mentally because he's surrounded by players of the same age group and he knows to himself that no one on that team has a disposition similar to Kobe's that will conflict with his but let's see how he'll perofrm when the going gets tough (Both in the regular season and postseason). This time, no more excuses. It's put up or shut up.

Bulls have a pretty high ceiling but injuries always hold them back it seems, even before Rose went down. I expect them to at least play the Pacers in the playoffs this year, should be entertaining to watch

heh, yeah Pacers and Brooklyn will be a major pain in the ass this year (and of course, Miami), but I believe in Thibs' dust. Only lacking in our team now is a legit back up center, and they are looking at Kurt Thomas wtf, a 40 yr old to back up a 36 yr old (Nazr Mohammed) LOL.
