      @killerbee1000:

Class act by Adam Silver and the NBA for letting Isaiah Austin take the stage and shake Silver's hand.

      I agree.

Also I am super happy with the Lakers getting Julius Randle

If you are gonna shoot, shoot. Don't talk

I'm happy with the trade for Doug McDermitt. Bulls finally have a go to scorer, and it clears cap space also, if Melo does sign with the Bulls.

And lol at Bill Simmons. Such an objective NBA analyst sarcasm

Smart is a great player, arguably the best after the "Big 3" of Embiid, Wiggins, and Parker, but I hope he's traded in the near future instead of Rondo :ninja:

And in the lack of surprise of the night, the Spurs picked Kyle Anderson, who is the definition of "point-forward" AKA Boris Diaw 2.0 and will most likely become another cog on the Spurs machine. The funny part is that two of his teammates, Zack LaVine (the third best player from the bench) and Jordan Adams (a very good player as well) were picked before him.

Also Lebron got what he wanted in Shabazz Napier, a PG who can shoot but is way better as a assist PG

And I agree probably the biggest move of the first round was by the Bulls to get McDermott in return of getting rid of money.

I love the abnormally long "tape delay" shot of Embiid after he got drafted by the Sixers. Truly meme worthy

the common theme in this draft was: take someone in the same role your team is already stacked. Embiid, Smart, Exum, Stauskas, Payne and also Payton and McBuckets (who both were trade-imposed picks at least) all were selected by teams that are actually pretty set in their positions.

                  Some considerations on the picks:
-The Sixers are really taking this tanking thing seriously: other than picking an injuried player who plays the same position of the injuried player they picked last year, they got Saric, a potential phenomenon who won't see an NBA court for the next two years at least.
-Rondo's time in Boston is over. I'm sorry Bill Simmons but I can't see him and Smart in the same backcourt.
-I'm really happy that Aaron Gordon was picked high. I think he can be great and I can't wait to see him fly in Orlando and become the next Blake Griffin
-I have doubts about Exum in Utah, but I'm glad they didn't waste Randle or Vonleh in a team already stacked in the frontcourt
-The Suns didn't trade any of their picks and actually took really good players. I can see them involved in some trades this summer anyways
-The Spurs did it again: Kyle Anderson at 30 is a real steal. Why do the other teams always allow them to do this??

                    @'ko:

-The Sixers are really taking this tanking thing seriously: other than picking an injuried player who plays the same position of the injuried player they picked last year, they got Saric, a potential phenomenon who won't see an NBA court for the next two years at least.

They're in no hurry to get better, but they are also picking the best talent available-2 years in a row. If Noel shows signs of brilliance and Embiid will be fine, the Sixers will likely ship out Noel to tank further. They're not stuck with their picks.

-Rondo's time in Boston is over. I'm sorry Bill Simmons but I can't see him and Smart in the same backcourt.

Again, rookie contracts don't have no-trade clauses. The likelihood of Smart getting moved at this point is much higher than Rondo's. Ainge has let it be known that he isn't giving up Rondo for pennies on the dollar. Unlike Melo and Love, he's not dead set on leaving his team

I'm very surprised by Wade & Bosh opting out. They were both going to make over $20 million the next 2 seasons. They aren't worth anything near that and if I'm Miami, I'd be wary of giving long contracts to the runts of the "Big 3." I think it'd be hilarious if they let Bosh walk. Wade is staying for obvious reasons but they're really no reason to give him an extremely long contract

Yeah but they are just opting out to let Riley rebuild the roster properly. Just a strategic move from the Big 3

This is crazy because the Suns have enough money to sign both Lebron and Melo to max deals and still have most of their current crop of very good players signed past next year and have THREE first round picks next year. If it wasn't Phoenix Lebron and Melo would probably take a bigger look at it.

Wonder why nobody's talking about Jason Kidd's hilarious bid to become head of basketball operations for The Nets blew up spectacularly in his face and Nets in turn hung him out to dry for the Bucks.

Carmelo is 'reportedly' staying in New York. But I don't believe that at all until signings can become official tomorrow

The fact that it was broken by Frank Isola gives it a lot of credence. Had it been said by Chris Broussard who famously said that his sources said that Lebron was going to Chicago ten minutes before The Decision I would agree with you.

He's going home. Now I think I can start appreciating the guy for his skills again. I was a big fan until his ego took over 4 years ago.

Name one all-time great without an ego. If anything the biggest criticism of Lebron is that his ego isn't "big enough" because of his passing in the clutch, not taking enough shots, etc. I'll be rooting against the Cavs solely because of Dan Gilbert, now that guy's a jerk.

Unfortunately Lebron's signing will likely lead to Kevin Love going there as well. That sucks for all the teams that thought they had a shot at getting him, like the Celtics

Oh well, on the bright side the Lakers have to pay Jeremy Lin 15 million dollars next season so no way they'll be able to get Carmelo. I really don't understand why the Rockets would want to pay Bosh 20 million a year AND resign Parsons to a max deal. They trying to become the new Nets or what?

Since Melo was waiting to see where LeBron was gonna go, there's still a great chance he'll go to Chicago.

Good for LeBron that's he's back home, but he's still a major obstacle for the Bulls winning a title, even more so since the Cavs and Bulls are in the same division.

How about that, The Decision to The Redemption.

Anyway, do the Miami Heat still have fans or nah?

I think the better question is who has the bigger share of fairweather fans the Rays or The Heat?

Carmelo's best choice at this point is definitely Chicago. Houston isn't far behind. Then there's New York, which has $$$ and Phil Jackson mist

I've been preaching that this would happen to everyone who would listen since the Spurs ran the Heat out of Texas in the finals this year. It just made way way way too much sense. I had tinkered with the Love idea but I thought I was getting ahead of myself with that one. And now Love is PUSHING for it already. I am… just happy for Cleveland right now. They've gotten crapped on in the sporting world for a very long time, apart from a lone finals appearance by Lebron before he left. So I guess I feel like I can finally start rooting for Lebron to win again.

On the other hand, I'm pretty surprised that Bosh picked Miami over Houston. I really would never have guessed that one.

So the Cavs are going to tear apart the East with a new superstar trio of Lebron/Kyrie/Love. But this time instead of a bunch of crap on the bench, I see Waiters, Bennett, Wiggins (one of the three is probably gone for Love though). And is Deng somehow still on that team, too? Ridiculous. And all of that is before Lebron starts bringing in his friends like Miller and Allen to plug the last couple holes. In the end, a starting 5 of Kyrie/Waiters/Deng/Lebron/Love, with either Wiggins or Bennett as a sixth man and a bunch of guys like Miller and Allen filling in as role players seems entirely plausible.

I'm guessing that Waiters is going to change his mind about wanting out of Cleveland now.

If anything the biggest criticism of Lebron is that his ego isn't "big enough" because of his passing in the clutch, not taking enough shots, etc. I'll be rooting against the Cavs solely because of Dan Gilbert, now that guy's a jerk.

Oh, they have egos, but none so big to have done something like "The Decision." Could you see someone like MJ, Johnson, Kobe, or Dirk doing something like that? I sure as hell can't.

Waiters may not be long for Cleveland if the Cavs are trying to get Kevin Love.

Certainly possible, but they have several pieces they could deal based on who the Timberwolves would actually move for. If Waiters wants to leave Cleveland, then Minnesota won't be any different. Bennett and Wiggins will be the real high value prospects in the Wolves eyes because as the last two number 1 overall picks, they'll be the two with any significant time left on their contracts. The one thing Minnesota has never been able to do is hold on to its good players for long. They all eventually walk. And that's exactly why they have to trade Love now.

The only reason I can't root for Minnesota to be saved from the depths of sporting hell like I do for Cleveland is because I spent so many years growing up in Wisconsin, on the Minnesota border lol. So there's an overriding rivalry for me on that one.

I just find it curious that Love has been pushing for this particular deal immediately since Lebron landed. And for an NBA star, the chance to play with two passers like Lebron and Kyrie doesn't come along every day. So with Love really wanting to go there, it being out of conference for Minnesota, and Cleveland having a variety of pieces to trade that Minnesota would value highly (recent number 1 picks and future first round picks from the Heat lol), it makes me think that the Cavs are the strong frontrunners for Love right now.

All of this and I never even mentioned Tristan Thompson.

Leaving, yes, but would an hour long special announcing where they plan on going? Complete with "Not one, not two, not three, not four…"I mean, yes, Lebron pretty much had to do everything in Cleveland, and yes, after a year on the Heat, and the loss to the Mavs, (remember the press conference where he attacked the fans) he started coming down and became much more quite, and a much better player. Cleveland's lucky. They're getting a much more mature, focused Lebron back, wo is definitely at the top of his game right now. I fully expect for them to win the whole thing two years from now.

The reason is because the Cavs should have very good cap space in 2016 which should allow the Cavs to sign Lebron to a max contract if he decides to stay.

I always thought he would leave after 2015, win or lose, and enter what should be a hectic free agency. But he single-handedly made this offseason the hectic one. Losing this past finals and the Cavs almighty lottery luck/assets(that would have looked even better if they didn't draft Bennett) were huge factors in his choice obviously.

Either way, the big winner is Bosh. Somehow this guy is going to make almost 120million in the next 5 years. Excuse me while I go bang my head against a wall.

Lebron signed a two year 42 million dollar contract with an opt out after one. The reason is because the Cavs should have very good cap space in 2016 which should allow the Cavs to sign Lebron to a max contract if he decides to stay.

He believes that with the way the TV deals are evolving, the salary cap will be a lot higher in two years. So he believes he stands to make a lot more money by being able to sign a new contract at that point. With the way he wrote that letter, leaving Cleveland in two years is practically not even an option except in the most extreme of circumstances. All that good PR he built up with this would just get smashed.

I have no idea if that can possibly work, but if it can the matchup problems would be immense. I really really hope that the Bucks can hold onto Giannis for the long term, regardless of where they play him. Ohio and Wisconsin are my two states for life, so this is looking like one of the best years ever. Certainly for acquisitions at least.

Speaking of Ohio, I might say something as a Cavs fan that would surprise people. After thinking it over, I really hope they don't get Kevin Love. The reasoning for this is simple. He's too good. A trio of Irving, Lebron, and Love would instantly be labeled favorites to win the title every year, and anything less than that would be a disappointment. The Cleveland Heat. When Cleveland wins their first title in over 50 years, it shouldn't feel like they held serve. I feel like they could do it within a few years by developing the roster they have now and adding some depth, especially at center, perhaps with their 3 first round picks next year, and that would feel so much sweeter. The basketball world seems to agree that their roster still isn't good enough, and deep down that's what truly makes me happiest, to see them grow into it rather than buy into it. So hopefully the Warriors move quick. I also feel like the coach they hired, Blatt, was an oddly intelligent choice for this task. Very un-Cleveland like. Though I suppose every Cavs fan in the world should thank the stars that their traditionally awful first choice, Calipari, turned down the job before Lebron was a thing.

Cleveland might be the new Lob City this year. It seems like every other dunk I hear about in summer league is Wiggins or Bennett destroying another rim. Add in Kyrie, Lebron, and some bad East defenses, and that's a recipe for some highlight reel stuff if nothing else. I guess if you have a team full of top 5 picks featuring 4 #1's, then you're pretty much guaranteed to have a team full of guys who can jump out of the gym. Hooray for a coach that will run a motion offense and create free runs to the rim.
