Has anyone else encountered this problem? It's an annoying bug, possibly a virus, that generates random pop-up ads whenever I'm on the Internet (even on sites that don't have pop-up ads) and its getting very annoying. I can't seem to uninstall it, and I've found some solutions on the internet but I don't understand them. (I suck with computers)

Can anyone help me out with a solution?

A useful programme to try at least is "Spybot search and destroy". "Ad-aware" used to be the best programme of its breed, but it's apparently lapsed a lot.

You might have a programme which is displaying popups.

If you remember when it started (did you click 'browser plugin' download? Install a new programme? Visit a site which demanded you install it?) you might be able to get a closer bead on what programme is doing it. However, if not, the above programmes are good starts to try and scan for it.

Also sometimes useful is to open "task manager" (right click on taskbar), select "processes", and google for the name of each process listed, especially ones you don't recognize. One or more may be associated with adware-spyware-malware.

            1. Yeah, there is a program but it's hard to delete.

            2. I don't remember when it started, but it may be when I downloaded stuff from suprnova or one of those other bittorrent sites, but this didn't start until after I stopped using them.

            3. I know which files and processes cause it but I they keep coming back after I delete them.

            4. How can I put my computer into safe mode?

Well, if you know the files, there's probably someone who's written a removal utility or at least set of guidelines.

To get to safe mode, reboot, then just as Windows is starting, press "F8". Select it from the menu that appears.

Change the title to make it easier what's the thread about.
Old title: Aurora - ABI Network Trouble

                  Aurora - ABI Network

That's a nasty process. I had to do a system restore to get rid of it entirely from my niece's computer.

Spybot Search and Destroy is a good thing to have. Also, Spyware Doctor. Each program seems to find stuff the other one doesn't.
Also, Go to "Add/Remove Programs" in your control panel and look for supsicous programs. I'm very wary of any free software programs that really want you to install them. Sometimes by installing free software (such as download/internet accelerators), you give permission to third parties to hit you with spam and spyware. Another way they get you is by putting up pop-ups that ask if you want to download a program which looks harmless that say you must click "yes" to view the page. Don't do it!

And if you don't have this already, I recommend you switch your browser to either CrazyBrowser or Firefox (I use the latter).

Y/W. BTW, it seems that Firefox is getting just as bad as IE in terms of spyware and hijacking. There's also Opera.
