Both characters were depicted as martyrs in the manga... but Toei had some trouble keeping the quality consistent through the Impel Down Arc. Nothing against Bon-chan (or Toei), but I actually cried when I watched through the Drum Arc. There may be many touching scenes in the overall story, but not many actually touched my heart as much as I'd expect them to.

Movie 9 wasn't all that great, but the OST is really moving. The ol' doc even has a theme named after him. Come on, people, how cool is that?

Give the good doctor a vote. Pay your respects to the dead. (Bon-chan is not dead, by the way. He is too awesome to die yet.)
