The current one has been in place for over 200 episodes, with it starting with Episode 523. Almost 5 years at this point.
In comparison, the previous ones lasted at most, a year. I guess they don't feel they need to change it since it's nothing more than a simple series overview.

What are you talking about? I hate Shingaki as well, but even I can admit that this was probably the best looking episode he ever did. The characters were more on-model than he usually makes them most of the time and the animation wasn't the best but certainly not the worst.
I watched this episode as the manga chapter had me all pumped up with the cliffhanger back when it was released around 6 months ago or so.
I hadn't watched a One Piece episode in a very long time, like probably around Sabaody.. Anyways, the pacing and quality is just too bad now, like in some parts of the episode they didn't animate people running, c'mon Toei.. And the ending, it could have been done waaaay better, I think.. And the pacing, that was I think one chapter covered in the whole episode, I know they're very close to the manga, but it really hurts the anime that the pacing is so slow, at least to me.
Hopefully someday Toei (or other company, doubtful but dreaming is free..) makes a remake of One Piece with like 3 manga chapters per episode, basically like the old One Piece episodes.

I understand, but you are contradicting yourself. In old One Piece everything was still-shots, the pacing has been that way since Enies Lobby, I think you should rewatch some episodes to have a more realistic perspective.
I had forgotten about the Dressrosians knowing everything all along. It reminds me of Naruto villagers. If you friggin knew why did you make everything more difficult!? Ugh.
I also forgot about Fujitora developing a man-crush on Luffy lol.
This episode was very flawed…The last few weeks were definitely stronger. Harjudin's running was pretty terrible. People kept disappearing from shots. Lots of off model faces.

I don't remember anything he did during Impel Down. I wasn't aware that he actually produced something decent previously.

He supervised it but he didn't animate anything. Episode 0 had many talented key animators working on it but that's a luxury Shingaki will never have again.

Perhaps but I'm still trying to figure out if he's worse than Takagi or not. Sure Takagi has supervised some decent looking episodes with some help but then I remember that he's done many atrocious episodes because his art is all over the place.
Shingaki actually debuted in Sabaody (his first episode was the one where the Straw Hats arrived at Duval's base, I believe), and yes, his episodes back then looked pretty good (I remember thinking the Magellan fight being a standout, even if it didn't have much in the way of fancy animation). Recently he drew this so I don't know what's been responsible for his collapse in quality during the timeskip. It's why I've always put him over Deguchi, who's never shown much in the way of talent.

Right, his first episode was 387. That first fight against Magellan, i think it was the point when Shingaki became a favorite, then Episode 0 came out not long after.
It was a pretty episode. Didn't like that the cliffhanger at the end was pretty much spoiled by the preview though.

I loved it. And boy did Fuji get emotional. His speech about not taking his eyes really touch me bruvs
Everything surrounding Fujitora's scenes (as in, where the man himself was featured rather than his big ball of rubble) was handled very well, and his seiyuu deserves props for handling his emotional lines at the end. The storyboarding for his stuff was good, but the execution did suffer some due to weak art/animation (the overhead shots of the giant crowd running by him in full animated glory looks impressive until you realize that they just cloned the same group of five or so people over and over again). I must've just given this chapter a cursory skim originally because I had completely missed the detail about him blinding himself.
