He's at least 4 people, and from a turn based rpg. Those characters are hard. The pokemon are helped by their body types, the fire emblem lords fell to the same bucket, cloud could be any number of characters, Ness and Lucas thrieve out of their unortodox specials and weapons, and joker depends on the heavy ammount of love and polish given to him in his home game to stand out as a knife fighter when there are like 20 sword figthers.

The hook of the Heroes seems to be the spell menu. Might add deept of gameplay, but not too visually interesting. But those sound effects tho.

Whoever the last 2 are, it will be hard to follow the hype I felt with these 2. Dante is the only not yet deconfirmed character I can think of that would excite me as much.

Dante and Monster Hunter/Palico would equally excite me but they're both Capcom so I'll settle for one.

I said it before and I'll say it again: Sans/Frisk/something from Undertale/Deltarune.

Next barrier for Smash to break is the indie barrier and while there's a lot of fitting candidates, I'm placing my chips on Undertale.

I did like both of these characters getting shown off at once. Totally different fanbases. It really seems like there are so few who genuinely care about both. I'm under the DQ camp but it's cool that we got a character that is more for Western gamers.

Neither one beats the wow factor of Joker though. It's still bizarre to me that he's in Smash.

I’m so excited to potentially main Hero since they were my dream pick (I;ve been Incineroar Hell otherwise), but I was really assuming it’d be male/female Loto. The fact that we get 4 characters instead means knowing that the excellent DQIV fem hero could’ve been the IV rep instead of a completely all boy pick is a big old bummer. For this reason, I was a little lowkey sad inbetween the excitement, but fuuuuck Banjo looked soo so soooooo great and that trailer was so fun that I bounced back up immediately.

Well, we are missing half of the costumes, they showed the 4 bois as they were in the cutscene. There's some chance for some of the female heroes to make it in. Only downside I see is flowing hair, but they already did it for most of the ladies, and XI Hero.

Nahhh I was holding out a pathetic last hope, but the official smash website has all 8 colors up, like one of them is based on Terry from DQVI. I have no idea where on the pipeline it was determined but the active choice was made to not have either of the fem yuusha.

It huuurts but Hero still looks so fuuuun.

Edit: Also I was the dumbest person when I last posted in this thread I can't believe I was some bullshitter who was like "just turn on items haha" in Smash 4 release, because I have somehow since gotten extremely into Smash since Ultimate dropped and I am too aware now that it's not fun chaos as much as it's,,,,, really good Smash players with items on just KO each other ridiculously faster and in much more bullshit ways, and it is in fact just not, fun, at all… The realization that items aren't a crutch, but an overpowered tool that good Smash players can decimate with was a real eye opener in appreciating actual Smash play lol. That's my redemption arc, as I put myself through the ringer and play Incineroar and suffer constantly.

Hero 5 is more popular, more memorable and has a much better design.

I was thinking about that and my idea is that since Hero 5 is always depicted with the cypress stick, they wanted to avoid it no overlapping with stuff like Flame Slash on a canonical/feels wrong level?

For what it's worth, there's also the probability that they avoided female heroes due to other concerns, namely audio.

If you have a hero with male and female variants that means double the voice work, whereas if they go for all male heroes they can easily recycle the same exertions for all of them.

I've been playing this game obsessively, and had an utter blast with World Of Light. Seriously contemplating starting that New Game Plus.

Most satisfying thing in the game: Knocking people the fuck off the stage with a Belmont Smash attack. THWIPP!

Hammer is all well and good, but oh man the feeling of blowing someone away with the very tip of your whip as they're desperately trying to land is AMAZING. As is throwing a perfectly curved axe in some fool trying to recovers face, or the sweet sweet sweep-kick-jump, mmmm

Apart from that, most satisfying moves for me are still Luigis finger jab of doom, using Duck Hunts trick shot to bounce the barrel right into someone at the most opportune moment, and that time I used Mega Mans tornadoes to gradually lift someone off the stage
