Palutena and Robin are the first instances that characters I love get into smash, so of course I'll never stop using them.
There's also a special place in my heart for all the technical and troll-y characters. Beating people with WFT is too fun, and being able to play technical and setting up is always going to be more satisfactory to me than the quick, combo-heavy characters.
Tier or no tier, no one can deny how satisfying it is to pull off a kamikaze with Bowser and/or Ganondorf. I don't even get mad when it's used on me.
For those who are disappointed in their character's ranking, even if it doesn't matter too much outside of the competitive sphere, here's a fun analysis of how Melee's tier list changed over time (hopefully it hasn't already been posted here):

Just now seeing the Tier List thing. Good to see my mains are all workable. Sonic and especially Fox were dire as fuck in Brawl.
Tomorrow a new Smash 3DS update will be on its way, and it will allow amiibo support for new 3DS users.

What's so different between Fox and Falcon that Fox gets a B+ while Falco is a B-? Is it the shield or the laser fire that makes the difference?

Eh well. Bowser, Pikachu, Villager, Lucario, Megaman, Falco and Peach have sort of settled into my favorites, (with a bit of Pit, Sonic, Shulk and both Samus) and they're all in that range.
Tiers are split based on how close in score characters are from one another. Splitting A's, B's, and C's might be just be just based on groupings.
As for why people would rate fox higher than Falco, Falco got a lot of nerfs this iteration that really affect his gameplay. One of Falco's main staple attacks, his down air, has become more difficult to land and is way weaker than before. His blaster goes way less further this time around, and there's no way to make it shoot any faster. Among other changes. Fox also got a lot of nerfs, too, but I suppose that his toolkit in this iteration is more versatile than Falco's.

Falco has almost entirely different physics from Fox to the point that he's almost a separate character at this point.

What makes a Tier List official?
For it to be official it needs to be people who are known in the community as having extensive knowledge of the game and mechanics. For smash, that'd be the Smash Bros Back Room who votes on their own rankings of characters and aggregating scores.
Community tier lists are fun to see, but they recently did one on /r/smashbros (or was it /r/ssbpm?) for Project M, and the results were kinda hilarious because of how skewed they were toward melee vets

I tend to prefer Falco personally, because if I want a speedy character I tend to pick Captain Falcon, so Fox seems kinda moot for me, but in the Mele days, Fox was almost "Pick him to Win" along with Marth and Sheik due to his speed just meaning he was better than everyone lol.
This is EASILY the best balanced out of all of the Smash games.

Meh, as a noob, Fox and Falco fall very fast. This is frustrating because the new jumping on your head thing. Even accidentally you get beaten in Classic or adventure mode with this, that sucks. Especially when you press A in that particular moment.

Try to jump with x rather than up on the analog stick. It's just more precise and you won't be making any accidental mid-air jumps.
Switch up your recoveries, use both UpB and SideB to keep things less predictable. SideB is pretty hard for people to hit you out of.
And idk just get a feel for when the apex of your jump is, when you can jump out of hitstun.
You can also stall with the reflector. But make the input quick because you don't want to holding down on the controller too long off-stage.
3DS version update 1.0.5 (almost typed that it was a new 3ds update, but that might be more confusing…)

He mentioned that they'd change things as they saw fit but nothing extensive. I imagine that if they do stop having patches, they'll probably end the moment we get the last content, whether it's the miiverse stage, the tournament mode or Mewtwo.

They nerfed Metaknight in a few ways, the biggest one being that almost all of his hitboxes have been drastically shrunk, and he has been upsized a bit so he's a bit of an easier target.
Diddy on the other hand, has BIGGER hitboxes that reach further, and almost all of his attacks got buffs. His Aerials especially have had a huge lag reduction.

Also, it really doesn't make sense that after he made Palutena so cool and awesome in KIU, now he shits on her constantly. I also don't think it would be that hard to nerf the uair of Diddy
I for the life of me still cannot play Diddy to save my life. Even back in Brawl. Which is sad, because he's my favorite Kong in the DKC series….

Ive got a question for you, Noqanky. What moveset do you use with her? Right now im using auto reticle, super speed, warp, and lightweight. I'd love the opinion of an expert player.

I play with default Palutena to feel competent in for glory and competitive settings. However, I do have my custom one I enjoy with the following moveset: Superspeed, Jump glide, auto reticle and counter.
Superspeed I like for obvious reasons, mainly ridiculous recovery, approach possibility and the fact you can do different things out of it like short hopped aerials, up smash and grabs. Angelic missile feels terrible and the reflect barrier is nice only occasionally and not quite as diverse.
Jump glide because when doing it from the ground the glide gives me more mobility and becomes an approach option, especially since her aerials are better approach moves with less punishing lag than her dash. Warp is ok but I don't like the lag after it, which reminds me of melee Mewtwo. Rocket jump sucks except for out of shield surprises, but it's not worth it.
Auto reticle because it is without a doubt the best option for standard b. I used explosive flame for some time but the main strength of that is people not expecting it. Once they do, the lag and how open it leaves you kind of makes it awful. Heavenly light is terrible imo. Ad while AR also leaves you open often, you can use it more that the others.
I use counter because I like counter moves in general to get out of stupid juggling or combos from the fast, in-your-face characters. Lightweight is also pretty good and I consider it better for an offensive set, but given how easy it is to be punished from killing moves, I don't like the idea of being more lightweight.
