CONSPIRACY????
Or maybe they were working on it, anyways, and thought they would release before the new game so that they could get to modding SSBWiiU as quickly as possible?
Even so, there is still this thing called respect. They could have finished, but sat on it till after the holiday season.
It was a dick move on their part and deserve anything that comes their way if Nintendo does decide to take action.
-
The armored Charizard looks really really dumb lol

did a charizard ever wear armor to begin with?

A dick move advertising a patch to a preexisting free thing, denying Nintendo the sales of tens of people who probably wouldn't have bought the new Smash until some Project M equivalent mod was made for it, anyways?

It's not like they are going to get tons of people to play their mod instead of the new and shinny game.

Pretty much. It will sway some people, I already seen it over at the Smash boards.
No matter how small, it's still a dick move. They could'a waited afterwards.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Casuals will flock to Smash U regardless, but Smash/Melee/Project M fans are extremely fickle... If they were deprived of newness for Smash, they might'a bit the bullet and gotten Smash U... but now that a new version of Project M is coming out today... well... any incentive they had to get Smash U is probably gone.

In one of the movies, I believe.
-
Aah, Project M. Have not touched that game in a while, considering all the hype for the new Smash.
Keep in mind I got it primarily because I just liked having a faster Brawl. All the advanced tech like wavedashing and l-canceling and shining and [insert other notation] wasn't really a concern for me, I'm certainly not skilled enough to use those.
Guess it comes down to a tradeoff for me. Squirtle, Ivysaur, Charizard are their own characters, you get Mewtwo and Roy as bonuses…..but the stages.....are kinda bland. Like I get it's supposed to be tourney-legal stages but.....

Where are you seeing this? Because I can't find any major mass "Screw this, we're going to PM3.5" posts.

In that thread. Keep in mind, it's not a mass amount or anything (at least yet), although I'm still sure it will sway some people into just staying content with Project M, rather than investing in Smash U. Especially since there's so many complaints about it being "Brawl" all over again with the way it plays.

Lol if Smash U somehow flops or loses even a small amount of sales because of this (it won't), that's Nintendo's fault, for not being able to compete with a mod

Big bad small time hobbyists denying one of the biggest companies in gaming an amount of sales that the margins themselves would find marginal? The level of dick move that is doesn't even come close to grasping the low rung of 'a single fly sticking around the dinner plate you were finished with anyways'.

Apparently (at least, as it seems in the Wii U version), the respawn time for Luma has been upped from 8 seconds to 13.

They haven't thus far. Just look at that poll in the thread. Many people believe the folks in-charge of Project M know more about Smash than the damn creator does.
Brawl is always frowned upon. I'm actually thankful for Project M, because Kirby is actually good there. Back when Project M didn't exist, Brawl players were laughed at… so the only way you would be respected was if you were a good Melee player... and Kirby was horrible in that game, so you pretty much had no chance if you were a Kirby player.
Still, I wish Brawl wasn't so lauded because I was good at that game. No one respected that. Smash 4 looked to be something that would be accepted competitive wise, but everyday it looks more and more like it'll be included with Brawl in the no respect department.
Which leaves Project M, which I'm also fairly good at, but it's technically not an official product, so many tourneys don't host it.
I just hope Smash 4 doesn't fall with Brawl, because I'd like to go to an official tourney that isn't full of Melee elists. I don't want to resort to another mod just to be respected in the community.
I still think they could'a held off on releasing the mod until a little after Smash U came out, but whatever. Just seems.... wrong.

I found that thread, and there are a few things to consider about it:
1: The majority of actual posts are basically "I'll be getting both, but I think I'll end up preferring PM3.5". The Majority are saying they will support the Sm4sh regardless.
2: Of the people saying they won't be getting Sm4sh for the Wii U, the majority of THEM all cite additional reasons why they won't. Preferring PM over Sm4sh doesn't seem to widely be an adequate reason by itself to not get it. Usually its "I don't have a Wii U" or "I bought the 3DS version and I like it, so I don't want to basically buy the same game twice". These people probably wouldn't have bought Sm4sh Wii U anyway.
3: As is pointed out repeatedly in that thread, the OP posted that thread in the Project M section of Smashboards. Meaning the majority of the people in SB that see it and are reading it are people who frequent the PM section, IE: People who already preferred PM are the primary people talking here. The OP at one point mentions how that was always going to be a problem since Sboards doesn't have a "General All Smash" section where it could be posted, so their only choice was to post it in one of two sections that each had their own bias already.
4: A few people have come in to defend Sm4sh on the grounds that: We haven't had the 3DS version for too long, and we haven't got the Wii U Version AT ALL yet, so there hasn't been enough time for people to properly and fully assess the Metagame and see just how competitively viable the game truly is. This plus the fact that Nintendo will be patching the game means a lot can change down the line. I mean, the Metagame for EVERY Iteration of Smash changes almost daily. Even the Mele Tiers list still gets updated frequently due to new combos and new exploits that get discovered.
I have to REALLY agree with 4. I overall like Smash 3DS, it's a good solid game and I like playing it. But, there are a few issues I have with it that make me feel I won't get a true grasp on the game until I'm playing the Wii U version. Chief among them being the circle pad. I like the Circle Pad, I'm able to use it and it's serviceable enough to play the game, but it's got some serious input issues, the primary of which being that it's hard to differentiate between doing Smashes, Tilts, and dashing. My Mega Man game is severely nerfed, and anyone who's played me will understand now. Mega Man's Neutral A/>Tilt has it's uses, but it's not really good for the same thing other characters like Captain Falcon or Mario's is. Almost anytime you see me using MMs Neutral A or >Tilt in Sm4sh 3DS, assume I meant to use his >Smash instead, but the stick read my input wrong.
Same deal with my Samus game. It's honestly hard for me to get the game to consistently shoot out the kinds of Missiles I want. If I want a homing missile, I have to work to get it to come out, then later when I want a Super Missile, for some reason I get nothing but homing ones.Having a GC controller and therefore an analog stick plus a C-stick is going to GREATLY change my ability to play this game I think and I'll really be able to get into the nitty gritty of the metagame at that point.
Plus, my hugely competitive Friend John who is the person I used to practice day-in-day-out on Mele with wouldn't touch the 3DS version (FYI: He liked Brawl overall, but tripping single-handedly made him stop playing it) and is waiting for the Wii U version, so I'll have a local competitive player to practice with.
-
Just realized something: organizing AP matches and stuff will be a lot easier on the Wii U, because
a) as far as I know, there isn't a limit on NNIDs, opposed to the 100-friend code limit on the 3DS
b) Miiverse can be used to message people online
c) you can make your own tourney set-up! (barring whatever time we have to wait for that patch) -
Oh, that reminds me. I still have to add a bunch of you onto my Wii U friend list. Gotta do that quickly since Smash Wii U is coming out in a week (wow, has it really been 6 weeks since Smash 3ds came out? Time really flies).
-
Do you really think a bunch of people who hang out on smashboards.com aren't going to get the newest game? Like, come on.
But I also have to actually add people on the friends list! I have no idea how it works, though. I don't even know if I have a username
-
Project M doesn't have Mega Man.
-
A large majority of smash players are not going to just jump ship to PM. Short and simple.
-
Whatever that would mean. Like I intend to keep playing Project M for the fun of it, also since it has things I have been deprived of like Ivysaur. And I guess now Lucas too. Not Wolf though, I hate him in project M. Brawl is the one I need to keep playing for him T_T
But still, no way I'm dropping Smash 4. As much as it pisses me off sometimes, I imagine a lot of it will be relieved with proper controllers. And even then, the getting pissed of is justified when it comes to the excellent group of newcomers we got, nearly all of whom I enjoy using.

@Galaxy:
In "Lucario and the Mystery of Mew", yes.
Yeah that looks dumb…
-
9.0 intensity is insane ….
Did some good grinding for trophies, moves and hats yesterday and got some stuff. Those two challenges are the most annoying ones.
-
It looks better in motion when surrounded by a whole army of similarly outfitted monsters going to war.
-
So apparently Smash Bros on a calculator is a thing
This was probably mentioned already way back in the thread…but why not again.
-
Well, the general consenses on this entire forum seems to be to not like anything but I think 3.5 looks super fun….except I'll have to download an ISO or something because I only have a NTSC-J Smash game (my Wii U is modded to play all regions, however). There isn't a release frame for even an update to the Japanese PM (i think it's still on 3.0).
-
I don't want no washed-up, old-timer, stuck-in-the-past, cry-baby, pea-brained, attention span-lacking, PM whiners playing my Smash 4 Wii U anyway.
-
Hey honestly, the Project M guys do great work and they listen to fan input. Like with every community, there are loud a-holes, but on the all the PM community is filled with a bunch of decent and cool folks.
I'm very deeply involved in the smash community (64 pro and top of the Louisiana circuit) and I can vouch by them.
Edit: checks past couple of pages
Ah, nevermind. It looks like the general consensus is that they are NOT a bunch of a-holes. >_>
Carry on then.~
-
Shit now I want to play Donkey Konga.
-
Who needs to use the GC controller to play Smash when you can use the bongos instead?
-
Nintendo wouldn't even let the bono drums e used for ANY Wii game including Barrel Blast. Is this true or is it a joke? BTW I have 4 bongo drums.
-
THERE IS A GOD! Can't stand Rosalina and Luma.
Another nerf it seems.
http://smashboards.com/threads/rosalina-can-no-longer-attack-whilst-being-grabbed.377762/ -
Yessss. Loving the new patch already.
-
Wait, what's the nerf? Crashboards keeps on not working for me.
Meanwhile flashbacks to donkey konga burning her palms after hours of playing

According to Smashboards, there's a tip on the Wii U version that says "when rosalina is being grabbed luma will dance around frantically and cannot be controlled" or something along those lines.
-

Basically, Luma can't save you from grabs anymore. It can only attack after the person that grabbed you has already thrown you.
It can, however, save you from freefall, hitstun, sleep, etc. still though.

Pic of the day. "Intensify your activity by dodging a rampaging car".
I repeat: I'm gonna love Photo Studio.
Also…..now there's only 4 PoTD until the game releases for the U.S.

-
Just wanna say, thank you all for beta testing Smash Bros. for me, for when the real version launches.
-
i only have 3 trophies left for the 3ds smash. Done every challenge. Can't wait to do it all over again on wii U (was it confirmed that custom moves get transferred over? God i hope so)
-
Just wanna say, thank you all for beta testing Smash Bros. for me, for when the real version launches.
Low blow, Foolio.

Just wanna say, thank you all for beta testing Smash Bros. for me, for when the real version launches.
We'll also be happy to beta test Mewtwo for you when he gets released!
-
I'm fairly confident that Mewtwo will still be available to everyone, just not for free.
-
I'm thinking a timed exclusive. Will probably be included in a pack for purchase, but available to those that buy both early while the rest of the pack is being finished.
