It does not look like a RE game more like a FPS.
ANother attempt of Capcom trying to please western society after devil may cry.
If I weren't such a Resident Evil fan, I wouldn't care. But god….I'm considering it.
Although, the story is stupid. Why does anyone give two shits about Leon S. Kennedy during the events of Resident Evil 2? He was a rookie cop! He didn't have attachment to anything, unless this is a time traveling story, which......I hate time travel.
Whatever. I think it has potential, but I hope for a demo.
They must have read the script or an umbrella guy sent a message to his former self and unlike Raiden gave a more precise message like "Kill a rookie cop called Leon Kennedy who would be a major anti umbrellla leader".
Why don't they remake Re2. It is probably the scariest Re ever.
Yeah, there was an article about this game in the latest issue of Game Informer. It's supposed to be an TPS that can be played as a single player with 3 AI companions or online with up to 8 players, with the premise that you are sent there by Umbrella to kill the survivors of Raccoon City.
I'm kind of interested in this game for the sake of the multiplayer, to be honest (had loads of fun with that in RE5), but storywise, it does seem weak. It's being co-developed by Slant Six, who developed 3 of the SOCOM games (which have had some mixed reviews), so I'm not sure how to feel about that. We'll see. I hope they can make it into something fun.
i updated the OP with a link to more info on the game
I think I'm gonna sit this one out. Never really been into TPSs a la SOCOM, and yeah the story sounds like a pretty weak "what-if" scenario.
I think I'll wait for the HD versions of Code Veronica and Resident Evil 4.
And Revelations afterward, depending on when I get a 3DS.
Obviously, the franchise is not as popular as before. They need to go back to the roots and it worked with Street fighter 4.

More like a TPS, but I guess it doesn't matter to some people since it's still a shooter…

True. Visually, the game looks more like a regular TPS. The "what if" story seems to be the most interesting part but it is depressing to see your favorite characters getting killed (the force unleashed 2).
RE has always promoted fear and this game does not look scary. I will never forget what happened in the interrogation room in Re2.
I remember the reason I never bought RE games was because I thought they'd be too scary.
Now it's mostly because they look like they suck or just aren't anything special/worth buying.

Obvious in what way?
Because RE5 sold about 5 million copies worldwide even in spite of being arguably one of the most divisive games in the series. What's funny about that though is that not only did 5 outsell
the first 4 games and the remakes it even outsold the 4th game which is usually considered the most popular game in the series.
I have to say that it pretty much surfed on Re4 and the 4 years hype. RE5 was rather RE4.5
Re5 was more or less the end of the series cause Wesker is dead.
Capcom made darkside chronicles and operation raccon city. I have the impression that they are only using the name of the franchise to make easy money without caring much.
Maybe I'm wrong because they are even making a new cgi movie but a new RE game announced is not an event for me anymore.

I guess but ultimately those sales showed people still had intrest in the series, even if purists claim the series is moving too far from it's roots. As for 5 being the end of the series a little bit premature to make that call especially with Resident Evil 6 in development…development hell.
i hope they show some real gameplay at E3

Well if you conquered your fear, I really really suggest you take a look at Resident Evil 4 and Code Veronica when the HD versions come out on XBL/PSN. If you have the means to do so, you should check out the classic games, 1-3 to see what they're all about (1 has a DS port and a stellar GameCube remake, and all are downloadable on the PSN).
RE5, despite the issues I had with it is still a good game, I just didn't think it was worth the $60 asking price at the time (you should be able to find it used for a little less than $15 at this point).
