Looks like this is going to be a two-parter.
For a filler episode this continued to be a nice expansion on the source material. From the preview I assumed it was going to be the three brothers coming across some stupid filler old man (which is was) but instead they used the old man as a jumping board to display another instance of "haki" and to reveal to Luffy that Ace is Gold Roger's son. At the end of the episode they also had Sabo's father going to the Bluejam pirates and Dandan reading up on the Nobles (which, I believe, was in the manga). The animation was very good in a lot of parts, and I like the lighting used for when the three borthers and old man were eating fish by the fire.

Great filler episode. I'd show you guys with a link but the videos all gotten taken down for Strong World music, but I'm glad they're using more of it. The song when the tiger showed up on the cliff was awesome, hope they use that after we get done with the post-war chapters and the
! omission of a certain amount of time happens. They were treading on some delicate canon material but they avoided anything that would conflict with the storyline, so good on them.

! We have the time skip coming up, they should go ahead and do a bunch of Training filler before they get to that point, that's the perfect spot to throw in that material.
We need filler. I know people hate it, but we need it, even if it's bad. I would DESPERATELY welcome a TON of throwaway filler that can be disregarded over this 1:1 pacing we've been having for a while now. The episodes would flow SO MUCH BETTER if Toei could just adapt TWO chapters for every one episode, instead of just 1:1.

Luffy pretty much trolled. I love this filler.
They could also do the cover stories, which I've sad about a million times now, but they won't do it, even though I hope they will.

A really enjoyable filler, again the guys are really stepping up there games here. I think that was haki being used. I really look forward to the next episode

The VERY beginning music is SO inappropriate for the first scene of the recap; it's happy-go-lucky mixed with the macabre.
Great episode, though. Very entertaining.
I just don't understand any more. Filler eps from one of my least favorite arcs have been better than canon eps from some of my favorites. Can't complain, really, but this is highly unexpected.
And another big laugh this week with Luffy's attempt at acting casual.

The SH cover stories? Of course they'll be done. The opening theme is as much about the cover stories as the Sabo arc. This episode was great. I wonder if Toei is stepping their game up precisely because of how bad the war was animated?

This filler seems interesting however I think it's going a little too slowly… I just hope it's one of the parts Oda couldn't have in the manga. Was I the only one who thought the intro was a little... off? Geesh, that was worse than laugh tracks, on the serious parts of sitcoms. Great episode!

Yes and a few of them ended with cliffhangers. We can get fillers that lead into chapter 592. Or just scenes showing more of what they did during the two years.
I think this episode shows that good episode execution is more important than episode content or how much chapters are covered per episode.
Good episode. Toei has been doing great lately. I am glad they didn't say the old guy was on the same level as Gol D Roger. A good episode, especially for filler. It will be a 2 parter it seems, but thats good.

I don't mind filler. I just want more diverse filler. The Luffy/Ace/Sabo story has been going on way too long. I want to see

It's not bad for a filler, but to be honest, I kind of wish it wasn't right in the middle of an arc like this. But it could be worse.

The sad part is, it's filler and this was a perfect moment for an awesome flashback them fighting Gol.

Hmm, I might actualy watch it, I assumed the fillers would just be Luffy and co. chased by wild animals and annoying Dadan, while fighting off some throwaway bandits.
well doesn't anyone think it's a bit weird that the oldman (probably) used CoC which Rayliegh said that http://read.mangashare.com/One-Piece/chapter-597/page015.html and him being all alone it doesn't make sense.I know it's a filler and all but in most cases(put aside rayliegh) all the other users of CoC have crews/are leader-captains so IMO it's a bit lame to show a lonely oldman(doesn't really matter if he WAS captain years before) to have this power and just live at Gray Terminal full of garbage and punks "toying" with him.The only CoC user so far without a crew/team is rayliegh but he isn't in the situation that Naguri(spel) is.

Wow, CoC is really big for a filler character like Naguri. What if Coc are really, as in really, for special people only? lol upcoming anime plot hole! D'oh!

I really like where these fillers are placed. And they're not bad either. Good job Toei.
I'll have to admit that I'm among the group that isn't as impressed with the filler. It was decent, not at all annoying, but I see a lack of originality here. The overall episode did flow along well, though.
In the long run, is this filler great material? Probably not, but decent, not annoying, and solid flow have been pretty sorely lacking (as well as the humor and more positive themes) in the last arc, so we're probably overrating it a bit. At the very least, I think the pacing and content of this flashback has been enough to restore some hope for the near future of the series.
