The Wanderings and Photography of the Sperohawk

Hello Arlong Park!

I have been a long time lurker and an occasional poster on this magnificent forum for the last couple years. Finally the time has come for me to contribute in some way! I thought that this would be the perfect place to show some of my amateur photography, and let me stress amateur. Right now the only camera I have is a Sony Cybershot HH5, but the two of us have found some kind of synergy. In the future I would like to upgrade and get a real DSLR but for now I would rather spend the money on travel! I will also mention that on occasion I do use Photoshop to do minor color correction.

The other point of creating this thread is to share some of my travel experiences. It is funny, that my first independent trek was because of One Piece. Before April of last year I had never been on an airplane but then out of the blue I decided to try and see Strong World at the Hawaiian International Film Festival. A month later I was boarding a plane for an epic journey through Scotland, where I spent a week hiking along the West Highland Way. Then I found myself returning to Hawaii where I jumped out of an airplane and then decided to go in a shark cage! These were followed by some tamer adventures including a trip to Ottawa to see my countries capital, a family vacation to Cabo San Lucas and then a adventure up to Yellowknife to get a closer look at Northern Lights and enjoy the -45 degrees Celsius, (of course my camera screwed up on this trip.) As you read this I am busy doing write ups on all my little adventures, as each one has left an interesting mark on my life. Yet this topic is not just about what I have done, because there are some very exciting trips coming in the future. Those are a few lovely photos, only the logo is a bit annoying but oh well.

Thanks! I appreciate the positive comments! I am actually not a huge fan of the logo being on the pictures either but I was told to watermark my stuff for my protection, even though it can easily be cropped out.

I love sunsets as well, partly because the sun is usually going down as I am getting home from work/school. Also because you never quiet know what you are going to get, some nights you get magic and other nights, like tonight, all you get is rain and mosquitoes.

It is a great honor to provide inspiration, even if it is just to encourage people to go outside and take pictures! I probably wont be very helpful when it comes to tips of the technical nature but I will try to help when I can. My only true advice is to keep taking photos, not every single shot is going to be a gem but the more you take, the more good ones you will find.

Hello Everyone! So the last couple days haven't yielded many pictures and this got me thinking. Should I post more of my older stuff, with a bit more of a write up on each photo or would everyone just prefer to see newer photos?

So just to start this off I decided to post some more Scotland pictures as this trip has played such a huge role in the last year of my life.

As everyone remembers last year the volcano, that I shall not name for fear of it going off again, decided to erupt one more and disrupt air travel over Europe. This so happened to be the night before I was supposed to leave….I had only been planning this trip since I ten years old and now it was almost doomed for failure...Yet as the day went on the skies cleared enough for international flights to take off. It was time to go to Scotland!

First stop was Glasgow. As I already said I had been planning this trip since i was a young lad, but for all my preparation there was one thing I had forgotten. Now that I was here how was I supposed to get to my hostel? I couldn't help but laugh that my first steps as an independent traveler were asking for help. I finally found my way to Glasgow's International Youth Hostel and quickly claimed my bed for the night. Yet I was on the other side of the world and sleep was the last thing on my mind, it was time for the exploration of Scotland to begin.

This is a silhouette of the University of Glasgow! Imagine going to school in a place like that. As a history major I could not help but become giddy with excitement!

Wow! I love your first shot, it's so interesting. Are those rooftops? Looks like a great place to explore.
I also like the 2nd last shot of the clouds, it's so lovely seeing them in pinks and purples at sunsets.

Anyhoo! I was out camping again this weekend and thus more photos! This weekend my family and I went to a tourist trap called Emerald Lake. The lake itself is truly beautiful as its green waters are gorgeous. What I didn't know was that there was a trail on the other side of the lake that would lead me away from all the crowds.

Well I survived another one of my adventures! Last week I found myself cycling through Canada's smallest province, Prince Edward Island. My 352km bike ride took me from on tip of the island to the other. I was dropped off at one end of the island with two flat tires and a seat that wouldn't lock into place, yet after some quick repairs I was off. The trail spent 90% of the time meandering through farmers fields, so I saw a lot of potatoes and wheat. Yet every night I found some place interesting to stay, mostly in B&B's. The craziest day was a day I had to bike 90kms. This alone is quite a challenge but if you add in thunder, lightning, wind, rain and 20km of gradual incline…you have yourself an adventure. Anyways you are not here for my ramblings....
