It's nearly that time again.

"What time?" you moan.

Time to argue in the Last Two Nakamates thread that Shirahoshi still has a good chance?

No.

Time to clean your room because you're down to a pair of shorts and a shirt that doesn't quite fit you anymore?

Maybe.

Or do I mean it's time to hurry and pull some extra cash together and then procrastinate until the afternoon before you drive to your parents place for Mother's Day dinner with the folks to pick your mom up an acceptable present? She likes candles, right?

Well… sure, but that's not what I had in mind.

It's time for the 2011 annual Arlong Park Character Tournament!

For those of you who have been present for subsequent years of the Character Tournament, you know what it's all about. Those of you who are a little green may still be able to guess by the name.

Starting around the beginning of June, One Piece fans from all corners of the forums make the pilgrimage out to the battlegrounds that have lain deserted since the last tournament. Eclectic clans of socialites and deliberators pour from the lands of the General Discussion section. Crafters, barterers, and artists travel away from the colorful bazaars of the Creativity Forum and Collectibles sub-forum. And no man may forget the knights of old and new; scholarly debaters, wizards with their yellow, green, and silver robes, absent-minded wordsmiths, ferocious beasts with endless wells of stamina, armed with sharp tongues and quick wits, all of whom find their way from the Manga Section they call home.

They come forth to campaign for their favorite characters, cast their votes, and win.

This year will see 300 entries. Single character entries both new and old. Others, like in years past, will have multiple characters and teams in one entry. All of the fun will be kicked off with an intense preliminary round.

So if it's not starting today, why am I writing this post, you ask? Well, we need your help; for the next week we will take nominations of characters. So what we ask of everyone right now is to start throwing out the names of any and all characters you'd like to see in the tournament this year.

At the end, we'll weight characters based on former tournament rankings and create the preliminary matches.

And then. Then it will begin.
