Are you all excited we finally get a season 4 of Xiaolin Showdown?
Xiaolin Showdown / Xiaolin Chronicles (ITS BACK)
-
-
get me some proof and i'll believe it.
-
We should've season 4 of this show years ago. When the hype for the show was still around. If it airs on CN, I will be watching it
-
-
-
Yeah, I've heard about this a while ago. Pretty excited for it.
-
Well, I DID enjoy Xiaolin Showdown.
So let's see.
-
Well, this is news to me.
I really liked Xiaolin Showdown, even though I sort of fell out of watching it around season 3 (that was around the time I gave up on Saturday morning cartoons in general).
So yeah, hopefully this will be good.
-
Between the inconsistency with Shen gong wu, derailing good/evil characters, and never really developing Clay or Kimiko, I'm not too excited.
But I have a fairly low threshold for entertainment, and I liked the show enough to want to give this a try.
-
Woah?
I can't even remember when the last time was I watched XS. I loved it.
On question I have though is that at which point did the original series end? My memories are a little foggy and I have no idea if it aired correctly in my country.
-
Raymundo had just been made the Shoku Warrior over Omi.
Thing about the series is, the Showdowns are now in CGI animation, think Code Lyoko and some voices will be different like Jack Spicer and Chase. And due to some rights issues some Wu will have to be renamed. Dojo looks a little bit different and they live at a new temple - But still, I am very excited.
-
tbh i totally forgot this series existed until someone dressed up like jack spicer last halloween

that part i remember. and at the end all four went up against every villain they've fought in the series.
-
And here I was thinking this was a necoed thread. Holy shit
-
^i temp changed the title
-
It's still a huge surprise to me, especially since I've been a kid watching this show, and that was ages ago. Bigger surprise that's it's a new season and not a reboot. I pretty much jumped out of my chair.

Didn't they revert Wuya to her ghost form or was that just a rumor?
Also the voice thing is apparently because of Canadian laws regarding funding things with exclusively Canadian acors.
-

after season one she did.
last i remember, Wuya got her physical form back after she teamed up with Chase Young.
-
From what I remember from the last season, Wuya is still in her physical form.
-
If you look at the Facebook page, the cover picture has her back in her ghost form.
That might just be production art though and it's not actually the case in the series.
-
No f**king way I can't believe they are bringing this back after all these years I'm so excited for this I loved XS.
GONG YI TANPAI!!!
-
First Teen Titans, now Xiaolin Showdown?
Please tell me Samurai Jack will be next!!!

Apprently this show already aired on Disney XD, did anyone watch it?
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Wait never mind apparently Xiaolin Chronicles aired as a 90 minute preview on August 26, 2013.Xiaolin Chronicles will begin its long term run, September 14th, on Disney XD.
-
i saw the preview and i thought it was good.
my only gripe is how they spaced the commercials.
-
The only thing I remember about this show is hearing "Xiaoooliiiiiiinnnnnnn Showdooooooown!" In a bunch of girly voices. I'll have to take a look.
-
i only just heard about it. I need to see a preview on youtube or something first. I loved this show when i was younger

Watched the pilot and I'm not really a fan. I LOVED Xiaolin Showdown but I feel like the charm is completely lost on this new show. They lost a lot of the iconic voices(Jason Marsden, Grey Delisle etc.) and on top of it…well it's simply been years since the first series. Now reviving a series isn't bad by any means, but XS never had a huge following. It wasn't THAT spectacular of a show. I was content with the ending, Raimundo becoming the leader, Omi learning to be humble and so on. Just seems like this is a bad attempt to get a bit of that following back.
I'm more confused as to why. Usually a show ends up coming back because the fans demand it for a while, the DVD sales are good, and they just think it'll sell well. But again, XS wasn't anything special really. Loved the show but I never had any toys, I haven't heard anything about DVD sales being spectacular, and I don't think it had that huge of a following. I'm just curious as to why Disney wanted THIS show.

It's Disney they love taking risks.

You can kind of compare it to Teen Titans Go, or at least… contrast it with it. They're kind of the same thing but on opposite sides of the spectrum. Teen Titans Go! is a revival where they omitted everything the original series had for a new style of show, plot, and character motivations. It only resembles its predecessor in name and voice actors. Here with Xiaolin Chronicles you have the team trying to keep as much of the original but only change elements to keep it fresh or for legal reasons.
But some how... Chronicles feels like a bigger betrayal. I don't know if betrayal is the right word... if it I'm just disappointed. The new cast aren't bad, but they don't carry the charisma the original set have. I went in knowing the voices are different, and I haven't watched the original show since it was on Cartoon Network. And still was disappointed; the biggest offender is that Jack Spicer; his new voice isn't nearly as charismatic as the original.
Its just interesting that there's so much there from the original show, but the small changes really do take its toll. I'm sure people like Ping Pong, and maybe he'll grow on me. But I feel like he doesn't add anything to the show besides taking away spot line and time to characters like Clay. And he's physically, verbally, and personality-wise too much like Omi. Shadow seems cool though. And the Tron bits are kind of super unnecessary and clashing. I'd like them more if it explain it. Like "We're no longer doing Xiaolin Showdowns, these are Ultimate Xiaolin Showdowns" or something.
Maybe I missed something. But why is Dojo yellow? Did he turn colors at the end of the original show? Or is it legal thing? Why is Wuya a ghost again? Isn't Raimundo suppose to be leader now?
I'm sure the show will grow on me, its just hard to get past some of the changes. I guess the reason I feel more betrayed by this over Teen Titans Go! was Teen Titans Go! isn't trying to be or even acted like it wanted to be the processor. If this was set further in the future and was more of a sequel than a continuation with very loose continuity I'd probably have less beef. But hey its a kids cartoon show.
-
From what I gather it's pretty much a reboot from the end of the second season. So Raimundo isn't a leader they just became Shukoku Warriors.
-
That's kind of a better way of looking at it.
-
Tried to watch the pilot. I stopped halfway. It was just so uninteresting. I hate the CGI Xiaolin Showdowns and how they changed the entire cast, besides Tara Strong. I don't understand why Ping Pong looks exactly like Omi, and tbh I never liked Omi in the first place so he wasn't exactly helping
It's totally a different show to me. I honestly though the original series ended perfectly (or fine), and I'm confused why Disney sought to bring this series back out of everything. Oh well. I wish it the best, but I'm not tuning in again.
