Holy Crap Robby, you're that old ? :P
Well, my working in comics for 12 years would be pretty frightening if I wasn't approaching 30, wouldn't it?

CR does a review of the most recetn MLP: FiM episode.
Presumably, he'll be doing weekly reviews of each new episode now.

Had no idea the musical number was based on a song from The Music Man. 'Tis cool.
Yay fellow 29ners.
You people make me feel extremely young.
'Specially you Robby, since I'm born 12 years after you…
I'm 20, which I assume is close to the average age of members here at AP. People Robby's age have to be at the upper limit of people who are still active.
there are lots of us old farts around here. now listen to your elders
yes ma'am
I'm 23 myself, and my friend still thinks I'm weird as well as my fiancee…however, she still thought this was cute~

Those are really hard to read scaled down.
@RobbyBevard:
Those are really hard to read scaled down.
I realized that too late…should be fixed now...
Ah yes, much better!
The fluttershy one is hilarious.
Perhaps a bit tragic.
These are fun. Anymore of them?
These are all he has out now, but he said he would put more out as long as the inspiration is still with him…
I guess Big Mac can't really complain about being the only main colt on the series
This makes me wonder… what if humans had cutie marks?
This makes me wonder… what if humans had cutie marks?
They do, its called tattoos…

BUt really, what it would be like to have cutie marks that appear at random on our bodies and tell us what we'll be doing for the rest of our lives?
Decided to dig through his art pages and found some of his concept and found some more of his pony art.
pin-up of Applejack

first concept of Derpy

That would be interesting…sounds like a manga in the making...

Tragic ? How so ? It gives more hope to the shippers crowd :P Plus, the idea of Fluttershy acting like that is just….XD
Tragic that she can only be outgoing while drunk.
Least she's a happy drunk…

I'm sorry, but I can barely stand to look at these.
Its just too damn weird seeing a Pony head on a human body.
Trust me…there is worse than anthro-ponies...much...much worse...

When you think about it, it's really no different from a Disney cartoon. If you can watch Mickey Mouse, you should be able to look at those with no problem.
So apparently theres been a huge stink ever since "The Last Roundup" about Derpy being an offensive stereotype of the mentally challenged.
Even in name alone despite…y'know having officially adapted it well before the start of the second season...
Where the hell was this stink about retard stereotypes when Snails was around?
I like those comics. Reminds of the days when I was a younging and used to draw anthro peoples cause I really liked Disney. Furries nearly ruined it for me in college lol. I also like the art people are doing where they are fully human, really nicely done, that AppleJack one.
Yeah some people are trippin about the Derpy thing. Some people have it in their head that Derp was a fluffy version of retard apparently. But Derp doesn't have to be a constant state of mind, it could just be a face that's a tad off from being in motion lol. I think people are just looking for crusades really. I mean, there's always a character like Derpy in practically every cartoon. It's not new and it doesn't necessarily have to be negative.

Where, and exactly how big ? Cause if this causes them to write her out of the show I'm gonna be fucking PISSED.
I'm sorry, but I can barely stand to look at these.
I cant bear giving Jay Naylor attention.
…Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand Fixed.
They make a big stink about Derpy being retarded and yet no one made that complaint about the older MLP series.
Who? I google it and nothing.
Okay, I found what I was reading earlier…
this is a blog from one of the fans that considers the word 'derpy' as a derogatory word against the disabled. (funny enough, my source was also talking about Katawa Shoujo)
The gist of it is that this person is a christian whoworks with the disabled and feels that derpy is a hateful term.
Ugh…
--- Update From New Post Merge ---
The main problem I have with their view is because I have the same situation as the writer, granted it was when I was in high school. I am a Christian and worked with the disabled, however, derpy is by no means a derogatory word! Some people need to be more open-minded when thinking about the context of things...
It really is a shame the nuts are in the news more than the actual practitioners...
People are raising a stink about Derpy?
Goofy from Disney, Ed from Ed, Edd, and Eddy, and Billy from the Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy are all allowed to act like idiots on a regular basis, but for the 6 or so minuets that we have a pony playing the same role, THAT'S when it goes too far?

THANK YOU! I was just about to make that point!
Although she shouldn't have to be saved at all. This whole situation is stupid.

Exactly, hell you can add Stimpy to that as well. But apparently female characters being portrayed as possibly dumb is a big nono. I realy hope this doesn't take off into anything hideous.
I just hope the people that find Derpy offensive have thought long and hard about whether they truly feel that way, and understand what the consequences of their actions could be. Because Derpy is one of the prides of the MLP fanbase, and it is truly amazing what the character has been able to accomplish.

I guess that IS the main reason why quite a lot of people bitch about her. They came to hate the fanbase and everything that comes out of it.
I've met my fair share of MLP FiM watches that hate the fanbase with a passion.
That blog entry was so blaringly condescending and pathetic I just have to give my own opinion.
Obviously Derpy is unfit to work because she's stupid. Because, you know, stupid people tend to make floorboards crack with their ass. Personally I hate it when people like this become oversensitive with the issue to the point where they go the complete opposite way by being offended by everything that might imply what they think it implies. I don't see a retarded person when I look at Derpy, because I don't have the guilt in my mind that I was unsensitive at some point and now I have to fix it by saving the world with political correctness. When I look at Derpy I see the fact that an animator DERPED and the fanbase named the character based on that, and her character became based around that … being a klutz, being accident prone. Sometimes people just read so much in between the lines they completely miss the idea about something.
Also, RD saying she's unfit to work is because of the fact they're doing construction and it's a dumb (sorry to say dumb, btw, I guess that could also be an ableist slur and I'll go to hell for it) idea to have someone accident prone doing that work. And even if Derpy WAS retarded, it is still the case in society that we keep people with mental handicaps away from places where they might kill themselves or others.
Geez, RD must be such a bitch for telling Twilight she's not fit to be her pet. How dare a heroic pony from the show have discrimination, our kids will learn this and grow up to be social asstards like the Nazis. And they're bound to make these connections, you know, because kids are either stupid enough to believe laughing at a derpy pony is the same as laughing at people with disabilities, or as fucked up with white guilt as most adults currently are. You can't say "black" because it's racist, why the fuck would we be able to say "derp"?
Sure, opinionated psychobitch, you're 18 and you just realized you have opinions and the whole world must listen to them. But really, you'll go on about how this show is being insensitive when there's soooo much stuff to criticize ripe for the picking all over the place? Why don't you criticize the girly, childish crap little girls have been fed for the past several decades that was pretty much made to turn women into consumerist idiots who are always entitled to less than men? Oh, but I guess it's ok that entire generations of children are being raised to be idiots (again, excuse the ableist slur) just as long as they understand they can't laugh at stupidity or people being accident prone because then they're insulting some crazy-ass backward nut somewhere. Because they're not insulting retarded people ... they're insulting you, and you're telling retarded people to be insulted. And for that, fuck you.
Lastly, it's clear this girl doesn't have the least idea of elements of comedy. The interaction between Dash and Derpy is classic character humor, taking an interaction between a capable and an incapable character and squeezing the humor out of it, because it's stuff that happens in real life and when exposed in comedic bits it's FUNNY. Just like it's funny to see interactions between homer simpson and frank grimes, or seinfeld and kramer, or anyone in friends and joey/phoebe, or michael bluth and almost anyone else in Arrested Development ... I could go on and on. Fuck, I could even quote Don Quixote and Sancho Panza on this ... oh shit, now we can't laugh at Don Quixote either because he's mentally disabled! THAT must have been why Spain went to hell.
But that's my expertise. I can't expect her to know that just like she can't expect me to know that derpy is a mental disabil--wait, what?
@opinionated:
I’m not saying this pony has already been characterized as having a disability, that’s not what I’m saying at all. What I’m saying is that she is a character whose name is associated with a mental disability …
when the fuck did "derp" begin to be associated with mental disabilities??
That's it, I'm stopping. It's way too easy to vent out all my frustrations and angers on life on this girl. Peace.
Guys let's just ignore, it realy doesn't deserve attention.
I am so glad someone is standing up for the rights of the easily offended.
Ooo clip for this weeks episode.

Little did they know Derpo Baggins would be seen as an offensive stereotype by Snail's parents.
Twiliadoc Brandybuck is a bookworm hobbit under the tutelage of Princess Gandalestia.
After seeing the signs that mark the return of Nightmare Morgoth, Twiliadoc ventures to the Shire to stop it. Along the way, she befriends Pink Gamgee, Rainbow Sackville-Dashins, Raritin Took, Applejack Boffin, and Fluttershy "Flutters" Proudfoot.
The series after the pilot is a slice-of-life adventure of comedy and mental breakdowns, featuring popular characters such as the Great and Powerful Smeagol, Gilda the Elf, and everyone's favorite, Derpo Baggins and her magic muffin ring.

If only MLP existed when Tolkien was alive…
not that I associate derpy with mental handicaps, but I think it's pretty awesome that a little background pony who isn't anything special and stumbles around like everyone does sometimes, has managed to capture the hearts and imaginations of so many people. I think it's kind of inspirational that a character like that can be as popular as pinkie or fluttershy.
wow noquanky. well said.
well, i work tomorrow morning, so i guess I'll have to watch tomorrow's episode at night.
