Yes, Alter Tales series is amazing. I love the fact they will release consistently Tales characters. I like the original artist design and the figure is as great as the artwork.

I've just been able to take some pics of my GSC Saber Lily which arrived from Otacute last week thanks to keithgator.
She's really beautiful, a nice complement to the "dark" Saber Alter.

I actually was interested in Durarara when I found out that there was a show by the same creator of Baccano. Both are great shows. You should check it out if you have the time.
As for Luke, my reason follows Blacksmith. I don't want to spend all my money on figures. I just save my money for the must gets most the time so I don't spend it on every character I like. Plus, I don't want to have a room filled with figures. It looses it's appeal.

There was so much stuff on those pages that I thought you hadn't looked at them. If you like that yoko, your going to like the price. If I remember correctly, the Japanese characters for that stall was Sega. If I am correct, you're probably looking at 1000 to 1500 yen.

MY GOD WHAT DID THEY DO TO HIM!? Those tiiiny hands, and the shorts have no detail (oh no megahouse didn't know what to do with a character that they can't make the pants super super tight!), and his hair is so stupid! Why did they put like a little hair soul patch right in the middle? Just make all of his hair spiky arrrgh! he must, MUST still be in the sculpting process.

Wooooaaaah, I am totally getting that Yoko Guren Lagaan figure! Yesss! Looks like a great sculpt, very similar to one I had liked a lot but was never able to get.

The YYH figures look nice! But, what is this? My boyfriend are getting a blast from the late 90s with this figure show! 5 Star Stories, Slayers, YYH, Kenshin, etc.

And anyone know what this is? when I hover over it it says good smile company, I'm wondering if they're selling that setting?

Found her! Here..She is definitely Sega on MFC which probably means it's a prize figure. Hopefully she will be relatively cheap to get.

Alter over Megahouse any other day, even more for these figures. If you look at Sanji below his neck, his body proportion is really weird. For the upper part, his neck is bigger than his head… his head is really small. Compare it to Alter Shizou body and head which is perfect representation of its anime character.
Weirdly, the sculptor of this Sanji Sailing Again is also the same sculptor of its Strong World version. I think POP Sanji Strong Edition is the best Sanji figure available.
Unfortunately, Iwamoto-san got it wrong this time.

So true. And that's the reason their GEM series keep going to the bargain bin, with heavy discount to sell stocks. Without the One Piece charm, they can't survive. :p

Their paint job is ok, but as you said the DETAILS are the difference. And for me small details will define a figure as "good" or "great". Although to be fair MH products are a bit cheaper than Alter on the same scale. I would love to pay that little price for more details of One Piece figures.

But 1 thing for sure, megahouse becoming like bandai. Tho they are always the same company,
but megahouse used love/care about their figures more. They used to value their quality.
Nowadays, they only look at them as money making machine. ONEPIECE and GEM line.
Tho GEM line seems to failed, even with their A-LIST characters.

As for sculpt it self, most megahouse sculptures is lacking on sculpting fold and lines on the shirt/pants.
Most of them are just weird. They dont really feel real at all.

Anway, Shizuo VS Sanji is nothing about who looks more like Sanji. Or because sanji is from onepiece, then Sanji is the winner.
But its comparison about how megahouse and alter sculpted their figures.
Their hairs, their clothes, their pose, and details like how they sculpted their hands.
Sanji's hands is lack of details, while shizuo's hands is just elegant.

Err…I can understand that you don't like Megahouse sculpt quality that much but Megahouse never has been something more than an above the average company...
Just go back to the very first POPs, quality was rather good at release time but already crappy 1 year later when Alter arrived in 2005. Alter was quite a new company in the mass-produced figure market but bested anything by far, Megahouse included. With the time, around 2008, GSM and Max Factory began to reach the quality of Alter before eventually surpassing Alter production quality (The 3 Saber from GSM ~__~).

Actually, I found that this Shizuo is worse than the previously released Chua Churam (2009) or Momohime (2010), from Alter as well...So Alter in 2012 seems to get lesser in quality and come closer to Megahouse work, maybe because of their common venture in Alpha x Omega?

This, is the difference.
I found the folding lines on most POP shirts/pants are redundant and not real. Bonney's shirt, Sanji's suit, even Benn Beckman's pant, all have the redundant and unreal folding lines. These small details really made the difference.
Just compare it to this awesome black jacket Celty and you'd know what I meant.

Just go back to the very first POPs, quality was rather good at release time but already crappy 1 year later when Alter arrived in 2005. Alter was quite a new company in the mass-produced figure market but bested anything by far, Megahouse included. With the time, around 2008, GSM and Max Factory began to reach the quality of Alter before eventually surpassing Alter production quality (The 3 Saber from GSM ~__~).

Actually, I found that this Shizuo is worse than the previously released Chua Churam (2009) or Momohime (2010), from Alter as well…So Alter in 2012 seems to get lesser in quality and come closer to Megahouse work, maybe because of their common venture in Alpha x Omega?

POP Neo Shanks is amazing. The Neo DX lines are supposed to be better than the Neo but I still think Neo Shanks sculpt is the best and the most true to Oda's art POP ever. The details in his face, shirt, pant, to his nails are just amazing.

The three GSC Saber are amazing (only own 2 of them). And Rin too, I think she's even better. More pics of her to be uploaded this week ^^.
But I can understand the quality higher than Alter since they're 1:7 scale and the price range is also higher than common Alter 1:8 figure.
Alter also released a 1:8 Saber and the quality and sculpt couldn't match the GSC ones.
I don't own any Alter figure yet but really excited to receive the Tales series. I like that Alter started to make more male figures. They should know this is the market GSC isn't looking for, so it's there to be exploited.
I took a look at GSC and Alter line up for 2012 and realized GSC grab the licenses of more popular series. It is also interesting that they can have the same license but the scale should be different.
For example GSC have the 1:7 Fate/Stay license and Alter have the 1:8 Fate/Stay. The opposite, Alter have the 1:7 Bakemonogatari license and GSC the 1:8 ones. Is it how licensing in figure works? :)
While 1:7 GSC Saber beat 1:8 Alter Saber hands down, Alter 1:7 Senjougahara is much better than GSC 1:8 Senjougahara. So these two companies are the top for PVC figure production in my limited knowledge. But how about Kotobukiya? I find their interpretation of Marvel and Tekken characters are just weird. Don't like it. It's so far from the original art.

Yep, Momohime the samurai girl from Muramasa. And Alter will do another fig from this game: Kongiku will be released at the end of this year I believe.
I really hope that they will do their best again with this one!!! Alter all the way!

Have to get that Momohime. Don't own a Wii but don't care about it :p

But still value for price award should go to Banpresto. With a very limited budget for prize figure, they did an excellent job.
