This chapter is indeed, "grave sin" to shounen manga history. Also, I fail to see the point of the flashback in the beginning. As atrocious as it was, I'm all excited to see how Kubo is going to out-Kubo this chapter in the future.

It only reflected the damage over small area the sword covered while the rest passed through and obliterated everything else. Logic? what's that?

The only one I can really think about wanting Male acknowledgement was Hinamori, and that's because she really had affection for Aizen. Her part fell flat because that aspect was never explored afterwards, which she got stabbed again and didn't get to confront Aizen. As for the Royal Guards, their things were sewing and food, but I think Food Lady's claim to fame was the soul pills which allowed Kon to exist. Once again, something that fell flat was Kon not getting time with that and the whole ethical thing that was there before. I guess Nanao could count as male acknowledgment, but she seemed more like one who had one trait then we got character thrust on her at last moment which didn't really work.
I'm one that is careful when considering using the S word to label someone or their work. I wouldn't go that far for this series, as while it's bad I never got that vibe. It has numerous problems, but that is not one of them.
There was also Rukia and wanting Byakuya's acknowledgement, if not needing it to survive her own bankai.

I bet that even if the godslayer sword is somehow still around until the final battle against Bach, he's gonna say that the sword won't work on him because he's seen everything through Quinzowl's dry eyes. In fact, anyone who fights the other elites will suffer the same fate; their powers gets revealed to Bach and become worthless. Luckily, Ichigo doesn't fight any of them so his power is still a mystery to Bach (lol)
Wait. How is Nanao's mother able to suppress hollows? The Ancient-Holy-Cursed-Relic sword apparently hurts the wielder, and we were told it was only used for rituals. And how can Nanao have no sword fighting experience? She had gone to the academy and trained with an asauchi.

They haven't shown to be able to use kido, is that because they're humans with physical bodies? But Ishida and everyone else had to have reishi bodies when they entered SS. When quincies die, can they enroll and become shinigami in seireitei?
So okay we know that after shinigami die (or get killed) they don't reincarnate, they just die and their bodies, or I guess souls, decompose and become reishi…minerals? (my source is Kaien-dono, I'm assuming he read a ghost book about it) So souls don't come back after they die, and they don't reincarnate in the human world. So that means that in order for there too be balance between the two worlds, SS has to have natural aging and souls die naturally. So a soul has a life on Earth, dies and goes to SS and then dies finally.
Maybe I'm over thinking this. Sometimes I do think people worry too much about plotholes, and these kind of questions are irrelevant to the quality of a series. After all, I like YuYu Hakusho, and that series has a confusing and unexplained afterlife too.
Also I don't know if the volume extras touch on this, but I'm very hesitant to pay money for Bleach, I'm sorry.

Kubo just glosses over information like this. We also don't know what happens when people like full bringers or other spiritually powerful individuals kill a hollow. Also whenever a person "dies" in soul society, they are reincarnated. But then there's the issue of how is the soul balance maintained?

I was referring to the reincarnation system, not times of emergency. Which is why I think the soul balance should have been a fabrication of the shinigami to justify the extermination of quincies.

…..although I doubt it, it feels like everything tied to the original information we knew about the Quincies (revealed in the first arc and SS) is....either contradicted or flat-out ignored now. I don't think Kubo even remembers "soul balance" now, he's in 1 vs. 1 mode.

That is supremely illogical. Yes one character being deficient outweighs the entirety of the series upholding the importance placed on the relationship between shinigami and zanpakutou.
She was unable to produce a zan using the asauchi because her zanpakutou had the legacy of the Ise clan, so she'd INHERIT her zanpakutou, and I'm assuming, ultimately bypass the whole process to begin with.
But if "The Sword IS you", I.e. you make your soul cutter by pooling your own, personal spirit into an empty sword, then the whole concept of "inherited soul cutter" makes no sense. As the shrimpo flashback shows us, people have their spirit from the getgo, and then put it into a sword later.
Nanaos sword doesn't contain any of her spirit because its been around for ages before she was born; if anything, it contains the spirit of whoever founded the Ise clan.
And then the spirit has somehow lingered on in the sword after that persons death, despite this not really being possible.
And then the spirit has somehow cock-blocked the development of soul cutters in the Ise clan progenitors descendants, because it can somehow do that.
And all the Ise people can wield the swords power, despite not forging it with their own spirit, despite Kubo outright stating that if you borrow someone elses sword, you can't use it properly.
Basically, the Ise clan is a giant asterisk put on Rockstar Midgets soul cutter 101 lesson: Your sword is not really a seperate entity, its literally just your personal power, it is you - apart from that Ise clan, there it totally seems like the sword is some seperate spirit that can just live on after the original wielders death.
How old is Ise clan anyway? If it's way older than Nimaiyayaya, it could've been an exception due to being predecessor to his "Asauchi System" shinigamis know today. Would've been better if that godslayer sword turned out to be not zanpakto at all, but something else entirely that inspired Nimaiyayaya to create the mother of all zanpakto.
Sadly, we'll probably never know. Kubo just drops us these pieces and expects us to fit them together. There's simply too much to speculate and not enough evidence.

To be fair, and far be it for me to actually be fair to Bleach, but I suppose Kubo could still possibly follow up on who the other 2 War Potentials are and on the concept as a whole. The key words there are "could" and "possibly" and in both cases I'm pretty confident that the whole "5 War Potentials" thing really won't be relevant at all. I feel like it was just kind of in there for Kubo to build up hype for his final arc, even though most of Japan obviously doesn't even care anymore, and so I imagine that the main reason why Kubo came up with the idea was so he could build up hype for Ichigo, Zaraki and Aizen, 3 of the only characters in his series he actually still seems to give a damn about.
Personally I always kind of thought that Urahara and Ishida were meant to be the other 2 members of the 5, because that just made a certain degree of sense; because Urahara is broken as crap and is always pulling strings from behind the scenes, just like Aizen and because having one of the Quincies be one of the 5 War Potentials seemed very logical to me, so I expected it to be either Yhwach or Ishida, preferably Ishida given that he was, you know… the most important Quincy character in the series for like 400/500 chapters or something like that... You know? But of course that would mean that Kubo would've had to do something with Ishida, in an arc all about Quincies, and we all know that Kubo doesn't give a crap about any of the old main cast besides Ichigo and maaaybe Rukia (and in the latter case, just barely) So… Yeah...
But the fact that Kubo decided to come up with a group of sorts called "The 5 War Potentials" and was too lazy to even come up with who the other 2 War Potentials were... Damn, son that's some bad writing there. I assume though that we'll figure out who the other 2 War Potentials by the end of the series... I assume... I can't even be sure of that anymore, that Kubo would undergo the most basic of story writing standars... Sigh... :getlost::getlost:
The remaining two of 5 war potentials could be either Urahara, Tessai, Isshin, Ryuuken (since Uryuu is useless) or our dearest friend Tsukishima-san.

Now when Bach is a god and is making Shinigami & friends run and fight through the Plants, such titles and classifications are all but meaningless. I guess he could say who the last 2 are just to round the story up. If he remembers.

Rage or meh inducing has described pretty much every Bleach chapter this final arc except… The Yamamoto Bankai chapters... The Mask de Masculine chapters... And the Mayuri vs Pernidas The Hand chapters. Which actually seems like a lot when you think about it until... You realize that that's been Bleach for the past three to four years save maybe 3 fights this entire arc. That's pretty sad honestly.
But yeah, Rage and meh inducing does describe most of Bleach for a long time. And I feel like I need to rant a bit here just because it still bugs me but... What the Hell happened to the 5 Royal Guards? Were they really just taken down by Yhwach and his Top 4 guys? Because that really just DOES NOT sit well with me at all. I mean, I'm sure that it's probably been brought up many times before but... Those 5 Guards (save maybe Ichibe, the Bearded One and even that's debatable) really just went down like bitches compared to Yhwach's Top 4 Guys. And that... That really bugs me because while I know that only Ichigo can defeat Yhwach (that's just story logic after a certain point) and Yhwach's Top 4 Guys should be about on par with the other 4 Guards... When you build up Five characters as being (In Kubo's exact words) Stronger then the Other 13 Captains Combined… And they go down really easily and do nothing to justify this claim (Save maybe Ichibe and again, still debatable)... Then, that's just awful writing. That's just awful writing right there. Really, really awful writing. So... Bleach writing basically... :sad:
EDIT: I just realized... I haven't even bothered to remember any of the 5 Guards names besides Ichibe. The Other 4 are just... Dark Haired Woman who I think was the original 12th Division Captain. Fat Woman that gets Skinny. Pompadour Douche. Sunglasses Guy whose design is barely different from the Pompadour Douche.
See... I admit I don't really make a habit of remembering most Bleach characters names anymore anyway but... I can at least remember a decent number of the Wandenreich's names. I remember As Nodt the Fear. I remember Bambietta the Explosive. I remember Gremmy the Visionary (God that character was useless :getlost:) I remember Giselle the Zombie (I don't know if she/he was male or female or whatever... And I know she was really creepy... But I still found that character strangely kinda hot in a really weird way. Don't judge me.) Bazz-B the Heat. Gerard Valkyrie the Majestic and Thor ripoff. Pernidas the Compulsory who's also a Giant Hand. And of course Mask de Masculine The Superstar! (He was too good for this manga. 
) And a bunch of other Sternritter whose names I could remember fairly easily if necessary because they left a decent enough of an impression on me.
But The 5 Royal Guards save Ichibe... I got nothing. They left like no impression on me whatsoever. In spite of all the hype all they really did was suck and die. That's really pretty sad when you think about it given how much buildup there was for them for the longest time. Just wow.

Why not? Nemu, Nanao, Renji, Hisagi and Rukia have all received power-ups this arc, so why not Kira? Kubo is giving the VC's a lot of shine in this arc.
I suppose I can sort of see why it might bother those of you who don't read the novels, but this isn't new. Kenpachi's potential and the way his powers work were fleshed out in a novel long before it was ever a thing in the manga.

Defeating a weakened Lillie isn't bullshit. His opponent in the novel is about as strong.

Those spin offs aren't effecting current plot development. Fairy Tail and Magi chose to cover things that happened in the character's past not what they were doing when they were off screen for a few chapters. That's the problem with this novel adding stuff. Like boosting a dead Kira enough that he can defeat something one of the strongest captain's nearly died to. It's an awful way of writing.
