That Asano guy should return, he's hilarious.
Bleach Discussion 0: Hello Darkness my old friend

Hollows always had these weird yet very memorable names.
Acidwire, Shrieker, Grand Fisher, Fishbone D….who devised the nomenclature, that's my question.
D Roy, Yylfordt (seriously, Yylfordt!?), Nnoitra, Zommari, Gantenbainne…
Those names kinda gave Hollows some of their otherwordliness.

Weird how Starrk with all that hype behind him turned out to be sssuuuupeeeerrr weak and generic in both strenght and name.

Just because he wasn't beaten by a bankai doesn't mean he is weak.
And I don't know how someone who is actually 2 persons is generic and boring. -

Wouldn't call him weak. Abilities and force that he displayed were real. The only problem is, Kubo is really bad at following through on the hype he himself created.

And I don't know how someone who is actually 2 persons is generic and boring.Well split personalities and multiple bodies is not really that uncommon (even Pain was 6 persons). It's just that he had too much hype to follow (even Ulquiorra and Grimmjow were better than him despite being ranked way below)

Yes, it's very much like Obito. Hyped to be the strongest of the group but then the hype doesn't deliver.
-
Yeah Starrk wasn't weak. Kubo just has been traditionally weak with long range fights (and has degenerated so that the close range fights ain't all that exciting either). Coulda been cool to see a gunslinger arrancar, but I guess that's also why Quincies no longer only use bows
-
The Starrrrrrrrrrk fight should've been Shunsui chasing Starrk around some pillars that have C4 strapped to them.
-
It was incredibly boring to watch a guy who can shoot 100 ceros in a second and create a pack of exloding wolves getting beaten in some dumb color game.

It just comes down to execution, really. The color game mechanic could be pretty cool, just like having a gunslinging arrancar
Sooooo many missed opportunities

He is still the Iron Man.

I remember him as one of my favourite enemies back in the day.
Perhaps he wasnt most impressive but he was one of most memorable for me.I would love to see his design before he split himself in two people.
-
What I want to know is why he wasn't revived by Orihime (or was that also in a databook like Harribel) yet fucking Loly gets to live.
He didn't seem like that bad of a guy. Lilynette might need some anger management, though.
-
Wouldn't call him weak.
I would. I don't mind the way he was defeated, the damage caused by that color game seemed like something that could bypass power. Also, Shunsui is the current general commander, so he must be insanely strong, it's not like being defeated by him means you are weak.
My problem with Starrk is his fight against Love and Rose. Those wolves were his strongest move and he managed to get the whole pack exploding right in Love and Rose faces. A full direct hit of his strongest technique. And both were totally ok after that… no major injury, in fact I am pretty sure they could keep the fight going on just like that if they didn't stepped away for Shunsui. Compare that to Respira or Lanza del Relampago and you'll see how weak that shit was (and since Starrk doesn't have any hax ability, just attacks based on destructive power... well...).

To be fair Ulquiora is an exception since he was the only one who had an extra form and Barragan, the former Hollow King, was also defeated by the most unlikely person.
-
Shooting really fast is kinda pathetic when compared to killing everything that comes close to you
also Barragans (why the fuck do I still know his name) resurrection looked amazing -
In a manga where close range sword fights are the norm, long range weaponry should be king
Unfortunately for the #1 Arrancar, Kubo doesn't have any clue as to how to make a gun fight look interesting

Honestly I thought that glimpses of Robert Accutrone fighting Shunsui had a lot of potential in them.
I was interested in seeing more of that fight back in the day.But of course Robert was killed by Juha without ever getting properly shown off.

I think the problem is the same as Ichigo's Getsuga Tenshou - Stark's cero beams look so underwhelming due to the restriction of the manga coloring. But whereas Ichigo's is a messy splotch of black (no detail), Stark's is like…..."huh, it's over THERE? The two lines outlining a space?"
Both of these attacks get visual boosts in the anime (black-redish tint for Ichigo, blue and the like for Stark)
Then again, pure bullets could've been a lot more engaging, perhaps a perfect way to counter to Kyoraku's games, where direct contact wouldn't be the way to win against the opponent.
-
Okay I changed my mind about Quincy Robert fight being interesting- only reason it was interesting is that Kubo didnt shown it almost at all

There are plenty of ways to make Starrk's ability great. Just like those tense shootouts in westerns or something. Just comes down to how you use the ability
Naturally, the achilles heel of this is that Kubo doesn't know how to choreograph well

Not really , kyoraku could just dodge and use shunpo to avoid anything he shoots and then get close , i think it was better the way it was, ( or what happened with nimaya oetsu and sternritter X, though we might get more of his gunplay later since hes revived )

Well I go back to Kubo's inability to follow through or be consistent.
First thing we see Starrk do is appear next to Orihime, says he's sorry, then vanishes before anyone can do anything, and it's not like Ichigo and Kenpachi are pushovers. But, in his final fight, there are no traces of extreme speed or teleportation.
Then we have Shunsui making an effort of avoiding his Cero, Ukitake even using his Shikai to repell it to save Shunsui.
And then Rose and Love get hit with multiple wolves that are supposed to be a lot more dangerous than Cero and they aren't even knocked out.
Point of dodging all those Cero?
I do agree Kubo was pretty lazy in making Starrk's Resurrecion, since it looks pretty bland compared to other 4.
And I'm still convinced Ulquiorra was actually the strongest among top 4.

For example, he shoots Cero like a maniac and uses wolves to protect himself from attacks while at the same time using more wolves to catch opponents off guard.

In a world where everyone has super speed anyway, is it really unreasonable that a gunslinger who was the #1 espada could
A) also have super speed or his bullets surpass what's normal speed
B) have insanely good reflexive speed
C) Instead of aiming where he is, aiming where he was going to beOtherwise, his design and fight would be pretty underwhelming, which, of course, it was.
-
Before Starrk, all we had as a gunfighter was Renji with a shotgun.
-
Kubo could've completely ripped off Ocelot for Starrk and it would have made his fight so much better.

He did do that though but then ukitake kept on assisting kyoraku with his shikai ability

Yeah, that's part of the problem is that once it lost any sense of being a 1 on 1 fight and exploring Kyoraku and Starrk's battle ability, introducing new elements required explaining those things as well. Ukitake's ability, Wonderweiss' appearance and curbstomping of people
Basically, Starrk got shafted because the potential of his ability never got really used.
-

And boy he got shafted. Fought 4 people and not one of them was forced to use Bankai.

With his second relase Uliquiorra was surely strongest.
I find pretty cool for Kubo to pair up together 2 strongest Vasto Lordes - Uli and 0 were nice pair.
They both had 2nd stage relase or Ira for Yammis Ira was his first stage?
I dont remember.. -

I dont remember..Yammi's resurrection changed form depending on how angry he is.
-
Oh yes, Yammi, another monument to Kubo's storytelling.
Who told you Espada went from 1-10? It was actually 0-9. Even though he had number 10 on him, but who gives a shit.
I remember one guy joking how from then on, he would, instead of ordering coffee with 2 sugars, order coffee with 1 sugars, lol.Of course he had to be offpaneled, there was no other option. It's just how things happen in Bleach. When the arc is starting and Kubo is warmed up, every piece of every shitty fight is shown. As the arc progresses toward the end, more and more gets left to reader's imagination. Well that, or villains just get taken out by their allies for dumb reasons.
-
Ah, Yammy.
Byakuya and Kenpachi get relatively injured to beat Zommari and Nnoitra (#7 and #5, it was NOT a cakewalk like Szayel was for Mayuri), yet they enough power (Byakuya can still activate Bankai!) to offpanel Yammy, #0. Keep in mind Orihime never got to heal either of them.
I believe the explanation is that Yammy was #0 more in the sense of reiatsu than anything else, which I find dubious. But to be fair, Kubo off paneled the whole thing. Mayuri was content to just let the two of them kill him, and sit back…..maaaybe he got impatient and decided to use lolscience to speed up the victory?
But I've pointed out (in my Applied Logic post) that reiatsu can't just be the deciding factor for Bleach battles. Kenpachi crushes people with his reiatsu, yet he's lost before. Ichigo can't control his (at least not initially???) and he has lost before. Aizen makes a show of subduing Soifon and Grimmjow with his, but he's taken hits himself.
-
What was the last update of Applied Logic?
I was missing that. -
Holy crap, people are discussing Bleach again!
Stark was pretty underwhelming, but to be honest, can anyone actually remember anything Halibel did?
I think her power had something to do with water, but the only thing I remember clearly was she getting trolled by Aizen. But yeah, I guess Halibel was more of a "typical Bleach fight" so I don´t remember it that well.
Stark was kind of disappointing in every conceivable way.
His personality was bland, his powers were boring, his fight was a waste of space, his design was non creative.
After something like Barragan, I expected more. Lilinette was kind of cool. Maybe they would make a more interesting character together. There's an Xcution joke in here but I can't fully bring myself to say it.
-
Starrk's actually my favorite Espada and I agree he totally got shafted. He ended up totally overhyped and got taken down way too easily. Also, didn't Shusui kill him by literally stabbing him in his Hollow hole? I'm still calling bullshit on that.
Wish he could make an epic comeback. But no, we get Ginjo instead.
-

Because his hole was black. Yes. Shunsui's Zanpakuto only sees in manga colors.

Haha, no. She had to settle as one of his guns whose "ass" he would then pick with his finger. (Was that anime only, can't remember?)
-

But it's a hole! It is, by definition, empty. You can't kill someone by stabbing them in a hole in their body. You just can't!
We know Kubo fails at science coughLD50cough but that's just basic knowledge.
-
Lilinette was kind of cool. Maybe they would make a more interesting character together.
I wish their dynamic could've been expanded on - a Kenpachi/Yachiru-esque like situation where the two of them just follow Aizen out of organization, not malice, and really only cared about each other. Big bro / little sis, that kinda thing. I know Stark was underwhelming but he was one of my favorites mainly because of that potential.

I remember about a year ago going through Bleach again, well, through the Aizen stuff again.
Only espada fights that were decent were Grimmjow and the one Rukia fought (and even that is a stretch). The science one was entertaining enough once Mayuri came along.
Banzai guy was the weakest one in actual Hueco Mundo, as it was two guys standing around, talking about how the move they made gave them the advantage. It's like making the game of chess and making it into a fight for life or death, but the game is even more boring to watch.
Noitra was just a boring fight of who could slash harder than the other.
Ulqiorra was him dominating Ichigo the whole time until Ichigo got his super asspull, and switched who was curbstomping who.
Barrigan had an interesting concept, but was so OP that the way he had to die was stupid.
Harribel had no fight like Yammi.
Then Stark, which had a super anticlimactic end. Number one my ass, you got OHKO by a captain, in his Shikai.
Worse of all was that the above mentioned would look amazing by the Aizen battle standards.
I think the best part thinking about it now is how the Arrancar fights were infinitely superior to the Sternritter battles, especially considering all but two Espada didn't have fully fleshed out fights, where a number of the Sternritter were just tossed aside, and had terrible fights.
Bambietta: Fox gets power-up by getting his human form back for some reason. Bambietta can't do shit and dies.
Mask: The fight that I should've loved, but brooding Renji makes his Debut and isn't affected at all. Guy was interesting, but even his charisma couldn't take away the tediousness coming out from Renji
Fear guy: "I am made of Ice, Fear no affect me but brain function still well"
Imagination Guy: "Me Kenpachi, cut, slash, black hole no affect me, now I use shikai whose affect increase ratings and make fanboys piss their pants"
Zombie girl: 'Semen Zombies make me wet"
Overkill: "I am bfsjaogfsajjgs" Fried to death
Three random nobodies "Kenpachi bored"
Other Sternritter: "Oh no, power taken away. Why we trust obvious evil person who doesn't care about us? Why did we even follow him? We shall curse his name and now do nothing since we have no power"
We are in the Deicide 2.something, where the name actually makes since. I suggest the chapter titles be called Deicide: Is the Soul King dead for sure yet? Or Deicide 2.0: Battle of the Gods (Aizen v Juhabach, who will become the God of trolls).

I cant express how dissapointed I was with Hirako Shinji performance..
First Kubo takes him out in super cheap way making us think he is almost dead, then we get to see a glimpse of his fight with Bazz B and its 99% offscreened..
I mean like Holy Shit(I gotten affected by Green vs Red post) when SS is facing absolute destruction Hirako doesnt care enough to go Bankai.. nor we get to see him fighting seriously.
Beside making faces as he is now I wonder what he will do till the end of manga.. Probably show Bankai to waltz through one of guys that killed off Royal Guards.Bcoz he iz zo haxxx..
Kubo has some art skills - that for sure - plus he has absolutely fantastic designs or ideas for power, though they happen once in 40-50 chapters, lasts few pages, ends up mixed with terrible storytelling and lack of consistency.
I wonder how many chapters are left until Zaraki chops to pieces Geralt Quincy(its not like Kubo ripped off Thor and gave him a sword, nuh uh lol).
Just to get his flashy payback on Juha..ONLY THING THAT I STILL WANT TO SEE is flashback for quincy war and we get to feel "Those SS bastards awwwww so Juha wasnt such a bad guy in the end awwwwwwww".
But I really want to see more of Quincy war, some of older SS that actually was good enough to die in war not to get their asses ressurected all the time in most silly ways and to see how Purge looked in past when done by Shinigamis this time around as I see start of Quincy war as last good time I had with Bleach(design and hype were great imo in volumes 55-58, maybe even Zaraki vs Unohana who was destroyed by Kubos poem in volume). -

I don't know, I feel the others are going to be steamrolled through for the most part. Ishida v Ichigo will take some time I guess, and Haschwalt might take some time. Beyond that, I feel the others will go through quickly. Unlike some series, I would love it to be that way, unless Kubo gave them very interesting powers to make cool fights. I don't see Askins fight being actually interesting.

Doubt anyone besides Mayuri has a chance against Askin. Not without free blood changer around, anyway.

Was that thing/ power ever explained?
It does not look like death dealing is limited in one way or maybe I dont have idea what is his power at all even after one of his fights..
Also now I remembered that Urysomething now will have also same power as JB?
