I actually liked the Kage Summit. But that could be because I was dying for years to see anyone from other villages.

I don't quite get why Tsunade's arc is higher than Konoha's invasion, or why Itachi's and that. . ."Jinchuriki wathever" arcs receive such sudden bursts. Both are really awful.
Tsunade's arc was ok (Itachi and Kisame's scenes were quite cool, honestly), but Konoha's invasion (even though I consider it part of the Chuunin Exam arc) is quite superior, imho.
Mostly agree with the rest.
-
I think the reason why the Confining the Jinchuuriki arc got a boost was because of Killer Bee and Kushina. Invasion of Konoha wasn't even that bad. It's probably because it interrupted the Chuunin exam lol
-
Wait, the Chunin exams and Orochimaru's invasion are counted as separate arcs now?
-
People think Killer Bee is a good character. I find him annoying and unimportant as we saw, cause he didn't do anything during the final battle. xD

Wu Tang Killa Beez

It's….it's really gone.

Wu Tang Killa Beez
Beez in the trap son.

@Cyan:
Wait, the Chunin exams and Orochimaru's invasion are counted as separate arcs now?
Yeah, because they are two different arcs. Exactly like Shinobi World War and Ten Tails Revival and the Final Arc - which are also totally three different arcs with break points totally not looking like completely random.
-
@Cyan:
Wait, the Chunin exams and Orochimaru's invasion are counted as separate arcs now?
No, but it had to be broken up otherwise they'd only have like 5 datapoints, and it looks better on the chart to have more highpoints early on.
-
The Five Kage summit wasn´t that bad, especially seeing the Raikage destroying Sasuke in every single panel of their fight
-
Our first week without a Naruto chapter.
Such a surreal feeling.
A feeling of cleanliness, perhaps?
-
A somewhat accurate graph of Naruto's drop in quality.
Ia gree with most of it… except the summit and retrieve sauce. I enjoyed the summit, it was one point I did like reading after the timeskip but I think the retrieve sauce shouldn't be that high...

Yeah those are why I enjoyed the summit. I'm not impressed by Killer Bee but loved the Raikage…esp when the Duck's behind thought he had him trapped and the Raikage simply severed his own arm as if it was nothing to free himself.

Just like rent is too damn high so is the chunnin exam.

I was about to go whine "but I like the chunin exams!" but looking back at that chart I see they have it higher then the Wave arc, which is my fave, so now I agree with you, but say the two should be switched.

I like the arc but without the Invasion of Konoha arc attached to it, it kind off falls flat.

You got a point there, It's hard to rise higher when there's a dead weight attached.

another interview with the author
In the interview, Kishimoto stated that Naruto's journey to become a Hokage is much like his own journey to become a manga artist.
“I was unable to do well in school and felt a strong sense of inferiority,” he said. “When Naruto said, 'I will be Hokage,' people surrounding him laughed at his dream. Since childhood, I also told others that I would be a manga artist but had no foundation."Reflecting on his series' journey, Kishimoto thinks he broke new ground with the story's approach to conflict. The series' protagonist did not always resort to brute force to defeat his enemies.
"Boys' comics inevitably feature violent scenes. But I wanted to tell (readers) that enemies who resort to violence probably do so because of unavoidable reasons,”Kishimoto said. “And if (the protagonists) defeat them without understanding their motivation, it could end up leading to a repeat of the same thing.” -
Yes Kishi, thats a nice moral to push, once or twice.
Not with every single mass murdering psychopath a dozen different times. With either full redemptive amnesty given at the end… or death.
-
Speaking of which, anyone else feel like Obito and Pain are essentially the same character?
They both have the same basic personality of blase, dejected pessimism, they both want to change the world because of dumb generic tragic stuff in their past, they both get talk-no-jutsu'd by Naruto, and I think they're both supposed to be parallels of Naruto and what he could have been.
So yeah, if Naruto was crushed by a boulder and saw Sakura die then he would have turned into a crazy person who wanted to trap the world in the Matrix. How uplifting.
-
People that didn't get Talk-No-Jutsu'd in a fight with Naruto:
Kaguya because she wasn't a person but rather an empty shell with no rhyme or reason to exist other than to take up manga panels.
Kisame because he was a sharkman and sharkmen are known badasses.
Orochimaru because only Sasuke could sway his heart.
Kakuzu because by the end of his fight he was too busy being stupid to comprehend words.
-
I think every villain suffers that fate, especially in part 2, which really makes it seem like the villain never changed; he just got a new name, face, and powers but it was the same character underneath. I can only take so much of the "he's not really evil, just a misunderstood guy with a tragic past!" before it just wears down on me. That's why I love Deidara and Hidan. They're just evil douchebags because they're evil, plain and simple; a breath of fresh air after breathing in all the angst fumes the "villains" constantly puke out.

I thought it was because she was a woman and couldn't be reasoned with because of that:ninja:.

You know what he could've done? Went with the 'Sexy Reverse Harem Talk No Jutsu' approach.
!
Surely that would have had some effect. I still applaud Kishi for having the balls to throw that in during this fight.
-
People that didn't get Talk-No-Jutsu'd in a fight with Naruto:
I would put Zabuza in that list, because he only got talk-no-jutsu'd after the fight was over and he had lost. I actually think the use of talk-no-jutsu all over the place was Kishi's attempt to repeat the epic Zabuza fight ending. Of course, he failed to replicate the fact that Zabuza got defeated in a fight in the first place, and that he was an asshole that came to realize he lost his best friend in the end, not a misguided idealist all along. He got a redemption of sorts not because he was a good person (he wasn't) but because he had a change of heart and killed Gato.
-
Gato….every time someone mentions that guy's name, I always end up wondering how a strange anomaly of a character wandered into the Naruto world.

YEAAH! You tell'em Cabbagepatch man!

Gato….every time someone mentions that guy's name, I always end up wondering how a strange anomaly of a character wandered into the Naruto world.
So true.
Kishi could have easilly made the world more interesting by adding some more interest groups. Akatsuki sounded interesting at first, especially when their plan to keep the war going was revealed. Capitalize on countries' distrust of eachother. Make a nuke jutsu. Control the world. In retrospect, it might have actually worked better than the Tsukuyomi crap.
So what we actually could have used were mob heads like Gato, who are only interested in profits and use ninja mercs to remove anyone who threatens their way of life.
-
The way I see it, if Kishi wrote One Piece, it would only involve pirates. Marines, and every other factor in the world? NONEXISTENT! Just stronger and stronger pirates for the enemy. FUN HUH?!
It's kinda funny to think Kishi was capable of designing this back in the day:
A freaking RACCOON BEAR!

Okaaaay, I do not know why… but I just got the most bizarre mental image of a Naruto X Scooby Doo crossover.
Basicallly Naruto & co were in position of the Scooby Gang "unmasking the villain"=
Naruto pulls off Kaguya's mask revealing Obito, pulls off that mask to revel Pein, this keeps going on and on... -

I've not seen that pic before. LOL but thanks for telling me that others have had that same thought XD

A freaking RACCOON BEAR!
I can tell just by looking at the guy that he's a better villain than 90% of Naruto villains. And that Racoon Bear/Rabear/Bearcoon, has more character than any woman in the manga.

Just finished reading the Land of the Waves arc again.
Holy shit this series had so much wasted potential it's silly. -
Gonna be that guy and say Haku was a special kind of stupid and Zabuza was not that impressive for being one of the most dangerous ninja's in his village. Also he got talk no jutsu'd in the end. The techniques and fighting style used during the arc was great. But the characters were lacking.
-

Not really the same as he was already defeated by Hatake before Naruto's speech, unlike Pein ect who were defeated by the talk no jutsu
-
Im against anyone being talk no jutsu'd at all. Just send them flying and let them sort their own shit out or kill them but don't try to convince me you just made a stone cold assassin, one of the most dangerous men of the hidden mist cry because he didn't care enough about his weird companion who wanted to be an object and had no real reason to like him but still was obsessed for some reason to the point of dying for him. seriously what was that relationship.
-
Yeah, whenever I try to remember that arc, I have to put an effort not to remember that relationship. Little too weird for a shounen. With possile implications and all…
Weakest point of the arc.
-

Zabuza saved haku life and gave a meaning to it!
Stone cold assassin, should be a definition to all ninjas! Because you know what? That is their profession. Ah, I forgot that in Naruto Ninjas preach LOVE!
Zabuza only really cold thing that was shown was the description of the previous genin graduation exam and his reaction to that event. But that was never again mentioned nor its repercussions. It was totally written for shock value and just to make Zabusa a villain instead of just an antagonist, another ninja that received some mission that ended being in conflict with Team 7 one, Kill the old man.
In reality I never understood the "graduation exam" well. he wasn't a ninja, but he participated; It was a 1 vs 1 battle to the death, but he kills everybody. -

From my experience, there is an honestly a large group of people that want to have exactly that.
-
So in the end, which was worse, Naruto or Bleach?
-
That's kind of like asking which dog turd smells better; it doesn't really matter because in the end they both smell terrible. But if I had to choose, Naruto would be my choice mainly because of how far it's fallen. And it's fallen a very, very long way down.
-
So in the end, which was worse, Naruto or Bleach?
Naruto. But that mostly comes to the weight of expectations.
-
I'd say Bleach is the worst. Naruto felt like it at the very least tried a little and got a somewhat linear story, Bleach is a straight-up trainwreck.
Also the fact that I absolutely adore the early bleach artstyle, and being reminded of what it has become every week is like a drawn out torture. -
I'm inclined to say Bleach but I dropped Bleach after Rukia was rescued so…
Up to the same point, I'd say Naruto was better.
-
Everything from the uninspiring battles, nonexistent characters, no emotinal weight behind anything and kubos obvious week to week writing and dropping of plot elements if he is tired of them, make bleach way worse than naruto.
-
I'd say that Bleach is worse. At least with Naruto, you could see that Kishimoto was actually trying to make a good manga, even if the execution fell flat on its face in many cases - Bleach is just incredibly bland and dragged out beyond belief.
