@Aru:
So, only one question remains after Naruto is over - WHAT WAS IN THE FUCKING SCROLL NARUTO STOLE IN THE FIRST CHAPTER THAT HAD ALL THESE AWESOME TECHNIQUES
Just the Kage Bunshin technique.

I'm more interested in mythology behind shark people in Naruto
There's apparently two of them, so what's the deal here
Whatever the deal is, I bet it's fishy…
^When there's a guy who can turn into a snake because of constant experiments and forbidden jutsus used on himself…I'm not surprised there are shark people. It was probably done through some forbidden jutsu with a permanent effect that only the most worthy or 'of age' members in their clan undergo.

It was the Kage Bunshin technique copied a bunch of times.

There is a prequel telling their story.
Street Sharks, look it up.
That message was bull even at the moment Naruto was saying it, since we knew already that his father was the Fourth Hokage and he had sealed Kyuubi inside him.
We didn't officially know the fourth was his father until about a decade in. It wasn't even said explicitly in the Tsunade arc, where they were frequently compared as reminding her of him.
Everyone just sort of assumed it because it was obvious.
But even being the child of someone famous and strong would have been okay… till all the other crap piled on.
For the longest time the official explanation was he was the emergency deperation child picked because he was what was available. It wasn't until later that him being specially hand picked with a special bloodline as the designated tradion chosen and intended to host the Kyuubi. Hell, for a long time we assuemd he was the first one to ever do it, and as an emergency accident... and that it was awful that someone would intentionally do it to Gaara, that was monstrous.
Then later it turns out nope, his mom was host before him and all the villages have held tailed beasts generations and its totally not a thing.
And thats just the kyuubi retconning, not even getting into the late game reincarnation stuff.
Yeah, he just kept crapping on the original thesis more and more.
Good thing both Naruto and Sasuke survived. No more transmigration.
It's bad enough in One Piece that Luffy is the son of Dragon and his hat once belonged to Roger. It'd really be awful if it turned out Roger also had the Gum Gum fruit and no has bothered to mention it before now.
Careful what you say. It's still a decent possibility. :getlost:

Watch your mouth before it gets washed out! While a possibility, its not decent at all, its crappy!
If Roger had the same fruit, SOMEONE would have mentioned it by now. be it Rayleigh, Whitebeard, Shanks or Sengoku… someone would have mentioned it.
Its enough that Luffy reminds them in personality.
(As is we dont even know if Roger had a fruit.)

Just keep repeating that, for the sake of us all.
And this is bleh writing even without having hard work and determination defying destiny being one of your cornerstone themes of your manga.

Damn now the would be a hell of a throw it in moment.

…wait, what?!
I obviously must have missed that, where was that stated?

Right before the timeskip, I think. Roger had it, then gave it to Shanks, then to Luffy. Neither of them had it long enough to become a trademark though.
It made it to one of the anime openings shortly after.
.. oh, now that I see it, I remember it again.
thx
Yeah its one of those things that are not said but is heavily implied.
We've seen Shanks had the had since he was a Rogers Pirate.
We've seen Shanks give the hat to Luffy, saying its very special to him.
Then we see Roger once had a strawhat when he first met Rayleigh, but he didn't have it by time he was captain and Shanks had a strawhat.
So its speculation that it is the very same hat, going from Rogers to Shanks to Luffy.
Its strongly supported by Shanks comments of Luffy reminding him of Roger, concering what Luffy said that moment that made Shanks decide to give the hat to Luffy.
The story about how Shanks got that hat from Roger should be really amazing!
Now why are we talking about this in Naruto thread? I have to go check that.

Fair play, Naruto has invaded the OP threads so many times, about time there was balance.:ninja:
By letting the fox demon take over and overwhelm them with crazy ammounts of chakra?
No, the fox did play a major role in beating Pain, but I'm talking about him hiding his shadow clones as rocks and using them to force Pain to use his Shinra Tensei opening him up for a Rasengan.
So…even Kishi doesn't like Sasuke
Kind of puzzled by the not ductile part considering he willingly sought out Orochimaru without much hesitation and pretty much had no problem believing what Itachi & Obito wanted him to believe about the massacre.
"He was really hard to write convincingly… but you know I needed him to go that way because I needed the plot to go this way."

Basically Sasuke's was the living embodiment of Geese Howard's "Raging Storm" command.

Was that the move that actually did anything and finished Pain off? Or was it ultimately just as ineffective and useless as all the other moves since he was able to just revive his other bodies and such and nuke the village?
I havent read it in five years and don't plan to again, but as I recall nothing Naruto tried really worked and just led to him being pinned and captured and needing rescue from Hinata…. which in turn led to the berserk fox saving his ass and doing all the work that mattered.
And really. "Use your clones" and "turn into something else" aren't exactly new naruto "strategies" considering he was doing them in the first chapter... and turning into a log or an enemy's teammate or whatever was a staple for the early part of the series for strategy.
Compared to turning into Kiba's own dog, or Shikimaru hiding his shadow in holes, or Neji figuring out that his enemy was going to attack in his blind spot?
It was berserk mode fox that did everything of any worth in that fight. Nothing Naruto did.

Oh, I just remembered one more thing…
It's been heavily implied on Fishman Island that Luffy will also be able to hear the voice of all things. So there's that.
Was that the move that actually did anything and finished Pain off?
It was the move that actually finished Pein off.
It was the move that actually finished Pein off.
So… AFTER the fox had done all the actual work and damage.

Oh, I just remembered one more thing…

That doesn't bother me since like Haki, its implied that its something a lot of people with a certain personality and ambition can develop… its not just a specific magical genetic bloodline trait.
Honestly, Ace being the blood son of Roger was a good way of working around that whole mess.
So… AFTER the fox had done all the actual work and damage.
Actually no. Naruto did most of the damage to Pein and destroyed most of the bodies before he even went berserk. He did most of the fighting in Sage Mode. The berserk mode saved him from Chibaku Tensei but it also almost destroyed him. Regardless, it saved him for a minute, dissipated, and the fight resumed as normal.
Actually no. Naruto did most of the damage to Pein and destroyed most of the bodies
That doesn't matter when Pain could resurrect them at no cost. The other ninjas including Kakashi and Konomaru took out a bunch of bodies too, and it was completely meaningless. Other ninjas also did ALL the recon on his powers and abilities.
Having a prolonged fight and getting lots of moves off doesn't matter if you aren't actually doing anything.
Similarly, people often complain about Nightmare Luffy ruining the Oars fight, but never seem to realize that, as a zombie, any damage Nightmare Luffy did was moot… it was still only the team efforts that mattered.
If you don't actually do anything to the opponent, it doesn't matter how fancy your setup was or how flashy a move looked.

But it wasn't the Fox that did anything to the opponent by that outlook either. All the Fox did was get Naruto out of that ball. It was actually Naruto that destroyed the last body with his own techniques.
Am I only remembering the wacky hijinks of ANIME fox completely going to town on Pain then?
Like I said, I havent read the chapter since it came out and have no desire to read it again. But there's definitely a ton of anime gifs and videos of the fox just utterly owning and destroying Pain, while I clearly remember Naruto's attacks while beign flashy on one-shotty on the extra bodies, not actually doing much and getting him caught.
(And wasn't Naruto also pinned by spikes before going fox mode?)
Yes, Fox Mode saved Naruto while simotaneously destroying his body and it also weakened Pein, but it was Naruto that did most of the work before and after. Like literally the Fox destroyed nothing. Naruto killed all the other bodies, even the one with the resurrection technique, and was the one to take out the last body.

Naruto (as well as a bunch of frogs) took out all but one of the Pain bodies, after which he was pinned down. Cue Hinata's intervention and then Naruto goes crazy fox mode (which the anime played up a LOT more). Surprisingly, this still doesn't finish off Pain and Naruto is turned back to normal by Ghost Dad. Then Naruto finally finishes him off with a simple ninja gambit where he disguises himself as rocks or something.
I'm pretty sure that's how it went down.
Yeah like pretty much the fight itself other than Naruto getting pinned down was okay. I enjoyed seeing Naruto do something that wasn't just rasengans (although afterwards it just became all just rasen shurikens) and doing sennin mode to take out the first five pains, and then the last pain was one kinda an interesting gambit I guess.
It was just everything surrounding it, before, after, and even during, that was a huge POS

Well Rayleigh did call the hat Shanks trademark from back then.

Yeah if you don't want to sit through a nearly three hour collection on the entire fight just watch the condensed video game version of the fight.
I believe they took some liberties with the source material but hey you get things like Jiraiya not going out like a bitch out of deal.
Now that I think about it did Yamto even show up at all in the epilogue?
Now that I think about it did Yamto even show up at all in the epilogue?
No, we only saw him in 699…befuddled and confused as the rest of us.
Nah, she's more of a Snake Eeeeeeaaaatttteeeeerr!:ninja:

then Naruto goes crazy fox mode (which the anime played up a LOT more).
Okay, that must be what I'm remembering so strongly then.
Especially the wacky crazy gifs with the horrible animation.
That crap is too hard to forget.

Saved the best for last.

Still remember some people on MH calling it a work of art. Saying "Just because it has a different style, doesn't mean it's bad" or "Best thing that happened for anime in a couple of years." You know, retarded stuff like that.
I'd give that a "You tried." sticker.
