I hope Sanji's scene won't be a disappointment.
Let's go, Toei! -
Been waiting all week for some new One Piece manga/anime! but no manga… soooooooo
Don't let me down!! The episodes have been really good lately :) Keep the streak going!!
-
One reason I'm looking forward to this episode is because it's one step closer to ending this arc.

Takgai is pretty awesome this week.
only one thing, sanji looks like shit, wow is it someone new on sanji fight it was freking awesome. -
Yeah, I can't believe to say that Takagi's art is pretty good today.
Good first half.
Edit: Second half was good as well. lol @ Sanji.
Next week looks great as expected, they are fleshing the chapter out, looking forward to it.
-
Just finished the episode. Looks like next week they WILL expand upon the Marineford scene shown in the newspapers. Looks nice! Good Episode this week.

511 preview: http://www.fujitv.co.jp/GPplayer/e/GPplayerJMe.html?anime/onepiece/110821onepiece&type=flv
filler on marineford next week as expected.
-
They also slightly expanded on the duel between Iva and Sanji, by about 10 seconds. XD Sanji still got his ass handed to him as badly as in the manga. I give this arc another 5-6 episodes before the first half ends.
-
XMURADX, you have a clue who did the scene sanji fighting?

XMURADX, you have a clue who did the scene sanji fighting?
It looked kinda normal to me, but the video was lagging like hell, so I"m not sure, but the key animators were mostly good in this episode.
-
Very good episode. Art and animation were solid.. Takagi's getting better or what?
Ishizuka is up next week. Looks really awesome as always.
-
Good episode, specially for Sanji <3
-
Takagi's improvement might just be from having more key animators or in-betweeners than he usually has to work with. That aside, I really had to laugh at how tortured poor Sanji is. Iva is such a troll. >_<
-
Oh boy, Kishido is going to hate this episode.
Takagi's art was pretty good, less exaggerated than it tends to be.
Favorite part of the recap was when the Narrator was saying ''the Straw Hats set out'' to the bit of Brook being snatched away, hee.
Poor Soran, destined to never see Robin again thanks to not being in the manga. Too bad for her.
Eyecatches were strage. For these episodes they've been featuring the Straw Hats more prominent in the episode, but Luffy and Nami had absolutely nothing to do with this one.
-
lol Sanji's reaction to the bounty posters was totally hilarious like in the manga, maybe even funnier! Iva is fun too but Toei overuses the 'not really' joke way too much, its annoying already
-
I thought this was a great episode, no qualms about the pacing; it doesn't have to go super-speed like the manga did when it was in this arc.
If there has to be one thing I especially liked, it was Sanji's whole part. Sanji looked sharp, the comedy was really good (loved that wanted posters bit with Sanji and have reread that many times), and Sanji actually got to see one 'woman' on that forsaken island. I rather like that because it implies that Ivankov could do that again over the time he's there, so Sanji isn't in TOTAL hell. Loved the music choices on Robin's part, and she looked unusually good.
-

Well, in the manga we actually see many new kama girls in the crowd, not to mention Inazuma..but Sanji never paid any attention to them though.
And yeah, the wanted posters bit was gold.
-
wats up with the clam scenes its annoying
-
Er…did Sanji call everyone queers in the manga?
Also, surprised that people aren't making a bigger deal over this episode. After all, it's the first time we've seen Robin in over a year.
(nope, not listening, lalalala)
--- Update From New Post Merge ---
Additional thought: first time we've seen Hat Revolutionary's eyes, including the manga, I believe. A bit of a hit to the strange but somewhat possible Sabo theory.
-
Yes. Finally they got Nico Robin right. I hope they fired the guy who ruined her the last few times. Now the title may be about Sanji's but I am much much more intersted in Robin's storyline. They seem to hint here that the rebels need Nico Robin for something. Something else then to be a mascot. I wonder what it is. Could Dreagon also be aiming for the ancient weapons?
-
lol im surprised im the first to point out how utterly sad it was Sanji fell for woman ivankov. That was very disturbing.
ROBIN THANK GOD. I MISSED YOUR ATTRACTIVENESS. Chopper was ultra cute too.
Its really strange how the animes pulling this marineford revelation. I actually really like how their doing it
I love the implied filler this next episode will try to pull. I just hope Oda gave them the ok.
Its going to be very interesting seeing a relatively empty marineford in broad daylight
-
wats up with the clam scenes its annoying
I agree. I was like "Yes, we get it, Takagi. You have a clam fetish. Move on with the episode."
And people are still complaining about Tate's Robin design. It's not that big of a deal, people.
Anyway, this episode was good. First half was a decent amount of exposition and the second half was more comedic. The Sanji and Female Ivankov bit was hilarious.
"Her breasts are sticking out!" "Her ass is so tight!"How the hell did he even see her/his/it's ass from that angle?!
-
did ivankov got his first VA back??
-
@Mark:
did ivankov got his first VA back??
You mean the one that got busted for posting naked pics of himself or something?
-

yeah lol 16 chars

chuckle Personally, I thought female Inazuma looked cuter. ;)
-

Actually it is. Anime is a business like any other and they are monitoring their customers. The more intense the negative response towards something is the less likely it is that we have to suffere through it in the future. Especially when it comes to small details like an incompetent artist. So yeah to prevent this guy from ruining Nico Robin again I personally would gladly continue to complain

If viewers in Japan were complaining, I'm sure Toei would most likely do something about it, like with the issue concerning opening 12.
But do we have any legitimate sources saying that Japanese viewers are complaining? -
Robin was quite pretty this time and I liked her screen time. Especially the little scene with Soren.
Sanji… oh dear. He certainly made an effort to stay on track, which I give him major points for, especially since he's been deprived of the sight of women for a little while and chased by men in dresses. Loved the humour in his part. :P
Chopper is so cute! Just one thing - where the hell did the baby bird get some cotton candy?! How do birds go about making it?!
I'm looking forward to the next episode and while I am really looking forward to seeing the Mugis back together again, these fillers are - as is usual in One Piece - interesting and funny. :P
Also: Dragon <3 and Iva-chan's Den den Mushi was cute~

What was the issue with opening 12?
A majority of the fanbase didn't approve of it, because it was too upbeat and happy-go-lucky, while the arc that it covered, Impel Down, was not.
Plus the lyrics did not fit at all.
"There you are, my love, standing right in front of me." -

"There you are, my love, standing right in front of me."Ah I see. I always felt that a lot of the one piece music selections seemed off kilter so I didn't notice lol. Although I'm loving the most recent. And I'm hopeful for the post time skip opening.
-
Post time-skip opening should be another "We are".
-
Hell, if they get Hiroshi Kitadani to re-sing the new version, I'll be as giddy as a schoolgirl.
-
And people are still complaining about Tate's Robin design. It's not that big of a deal, people.
Actually it is - granted its a personal preference deal, but Robin's design under Tate is almost unwatchable. Do I want to rant and rave about it - not really but I do feel slightly dissapointed seeing her done so badly.
Also I think the Post Opening might just be this current one with the Crew at the end and sillouettes updated.
-

No episode way funny and I liked the Sanji part. Even if they avoided explaining they shit they have done in the filler with Sanji becoming an Okama at his own free will… now this episode is even contradicting it saying that they want to out him dress once again cuz his defense is down.
Next episode looks promising as well
-
Hmmm, nah.
-
Sanji's part was hilarious. Nice ep.
-
They made the guy next to Dragon look ugly as shit. Actually so did Dragon. Like Marco I bet he looks completely different next time.
-
Now this is how One Piece should look, the artwork was fantastic.
Music choices, the filler everything was done really well. Robin actually looks pretty again, they must've got rid of Tate or something, since we haven't seen him do a entire episode for a long time, a good decision if they have. -
I really loved this episode, especially Sanji's part which was even better than I had hoped for. Good stuff and next week looks very interesting too.
-
Soren drew Robin better then the last animator.
-
Tate's probably going to be a supervisor for an upcoming episode or is preparing to join the rotation again, which is why he isn't key animating for other supervisors. That or he'll be rejoining Shimanuki's team. That said, Tate isn't incompetant. He's been with Toei for twenty years. He's assigned episodes and scenes because that's what the top staff members want him to work on. They know what they're getting with Tate, so they tell him to do his thing.
-
Hmmm, nah.
Sure, but this might be one of those cases where the animators don't know enough to draw the character right. So, for instance:
-
That guy can't be Sabo. Go re-read the scene with Dragon when he returns to his ship during the flashback. That guy's there.
-
W- wh- wha- what is this? Good art for Robin? Oh joyous days! Really the entire episode had pretty strong art. Dragon looked sort of ugly, but it seemed like a well drawn, intentional ugly. I dunno. The entire episode was smooth and seemed to flow pretty well. I'm pretty happy with it overall.
I'm sort of surprised that they didn't give the white den-den mushi ANY explanation whatsoever. Tell people wtf it is, Toei.
That one thing is really all I have in the way of complaints. I suppose that by adding this new Marineford filler they're sort of mucking up the timeline with Robin/Chopper/Sanji receiving the news in this episode, but at least it's obvious enough how it's all supposed to be structured.
But really, an entire episode for Marineford next week? That'd be a bit much. Hopefully half of the episode is devoted to world developments, since there's a lot of that stuff to get through.
I hope they change the way they've been using Tate, and give him specific scenes to do rather than specific episodes. Play to his strengths, so to speak. After this episode, I'm crossing my fingers that that's the plan.
Er…did Sanji call everyone queers in the manga?
That's just Funi's translation for okama. At least, they've done that in the past. I wasn't paying close enough attention to it in this episode to be 100% sure, so I'm assuming.
-
I'm thinking the next episode will take place from the point of view of that female photographer in the preview, thus allowing more of the episode to dedicate to setting her up as a character. She seems just a little too prevalent to not be of focus.
-
Great episode! I especially liked the animation in Robin's section.

"There you are, my love, standing right in front of me."Neat bit of trivia! I didn't know that. Doesn't change how much I love opening 12, though
