I'm watching stuff on youtube daily, but for some reason, today, no matter what video i go to, the viewing window is just black. no loading circle in the middle, no pause button or line to click and drag where to go…...nothing. just black. right-clicking it just tells me "movie not loaded."

i can watch videos embedded elsewhere, but not on youtube itself. what's the deal?

First off, a little more information is always helpful. What browser do you use? What version is your flashplayer at? Does your browser allow Java and plugins?

Ok, there can be several explanations. If you have Vista it's usually a firewall problem, if you don't then it's either a corresponding problem with your temporary internet data (use CCleaner just to make sure) or youtube is having connection problems.

used ccleaner, reinstalled my flash player in case, and still nothing.

Have you looked if it works with other browsers? I'll see if I can think of something.

I am having same problem, and when I right click on the video, it says " Movie not Loaded" however, If I create a post here and I put the youtube option , I can perfectly see the video. I got latest Flash and IE8

Mh, there's another possibility. Watch a video which uses flash (not a YT video) and right click on it. Go to settings, a little window should pop up with hardware acceleration. Remove the hook and see if anything changes.

lol did it, still doesn't work…..but i have some new info.....in firefox, i'll go to tools, then options, then applications.......and most of the media (movie, audio, and the like) are set to use quicktime....could that be an issue? i attempted to switch it to adobeflash, but even though i JUST INSTALLED IT, i couldn't locate it.

Oh, then here we go. YouTube doesn't work with Quicktime (annoyingly enough). Is flashplayer activated as plugin in your firefox settings?

So no shockwave flash either? That's strange considering you just installed it.
The problem is flash isn't really installed on your pc because it works through the adobe database so you can't find it there either.
