Throughout this month, we will be testing new features (like search) so you may experience some hiccups from time to time. We'll try to not be too disruptive...
The winner is…Beowulf.

God yes Beowulf was one of the best candidates by far, like I don't care if he wasn't somebody's top choice necessarily, he just felt like he had to be here and he had to belong
I am very glad he's in
Atleast it wasn't Minnete, so I'm okay with this. Not that I'd play with the dude.
At least it wasn't Annie. I'm cool with the Wulf.
I'm cool with this. Beowulf may not have been my top choice l, but he wasn't one of my low picks. So grats to our second male character.
grumble…
Well, at least it wasn't Venus or Aeon…
Still feeling the salt in my wounds…
Such a boring choice...
I need to look at the positive. At least it's not Isaac or Stanley.
Noone was boring-er than Annie! Such a dull, personality-less design. The only thing she had was the vague description tagged along with her preview art. Anything else that people got attached to was fan-made stuff. My initial impression of Beowulf wasn't what it ended up being from his description, but at least his visuals invoked something in my imagination right off the bat. The same could be said of any of the top 10 this time around, aside from Annie.
Tho I do fully admit that my boy Ottomo was sold to me by the description over the design. But I can understand at least why he didn't grab a larger chunk of the vote for those reasons.
Hey now, I know we're all upset Beatrix didn't make it but we shouldn't descend into bickering.
Not my first choice, but definitely not my last.
The people have spoken, I guess?
Guess we'll have to wait until Saltgirls 2 for Umbrella and Annie.

Um…they all had nothing but speculation dude...and so you know,Annie had MUCH more concept art than Beowulf. I think he's cool looking and I never said I hate him,but I just think he's so boring compared to most of the rest,he just seems to be a regular looking wrestler, nothing new or awe-inspiring. So no reason to attack Annie out of spite.

I thought I was the only person that liked Beatrix, sad to see she only got 20th.

I'm not attacking Annie out of spite, I genuinely do not see anything interesting in her. Her massive following baffles me (as I've mentioned a handful of times in this thread). I will admit to being ignorant regarding her "other concept art" tho. Maybe seeing that will change my impression of her.
But I still stand by that, at least based on simply the preview images seen, she has the most un-inspired, dull design of the top10 this go-round. Beowulf may not say "wrestler" upon first glance, but at least his design tells a story. Annie's got… A green dress with a star on it and poofy shoulders, oversized red bag, long socks, an eyepatch, comically large sword, stuffed bunny, and turquoise braided hair. Combine that with her description as some kind of tv show character but also really a magical girl (where in her design is this even indicated? The star? please) none of the elements really come together for me. She feels like un-inspired generic "lets make an anime girl!!!1!" to me.
As I understand it, supposedly Annie's parents wished for their child to remain eternally young using the Skullheart and so Annie is in reality super old, and has actually fought previous Skullgirls before, including Parasoul's mother.
She and Sagan are co-hosts on a childrens show played in Canopy Kingdom which is basically Anti-Skullgirl propaganda.
In reality she's basically a grizzled Sol Badguy in a child's body, who fights like a magical girl but is completely and totally stone-faced about it.
My character votes weren't just based on the cool concepts and fighting style, but the character's backstories and relationships with the rest of the cast.
Annie was pretty up there for me, but I've been following this game since alpha (for, like, a decade)! Shame she didn't win it. I'dve been happy with Brain Drain, Panzerfaust or Umbrella too, though.
Actually…yeah that is pretty damn interesting. Wish that info was included in her initial description, I'd had a more positive first impression of her.

Jesus Regina. No one loves you. ;_;
Annie's concept looked like a girl trying to play space pirate to me,but I'm weird,so yeah…lol. No matter how I look at Beowulf,I just see wrestler.
Annie's concept art for those that never saw it:

Seems like Eliza was destined to win that 1st round, she stayed in 1st the whole way.
Annie has a mr Saturn attack? Now i really want her to win.
So, who wants some scumbag business practices in their day?
Konami and Lab Zero have split. LZ has been trying to get a patch issue worked out with Konami, who just kept ignoring the communications. Konami decided to go behind LZ's back and send a delist demand to both Sony and Microsoft, Lab Zero just found out that Skullgirls will be removed from the PSN and XBLA on the 17th and 31st of this month, respectively. So now not only does Lab Zero have to find new publishers for the game, but they have to create an entirely new build of the game before they can get any publishers on board. The reason; Konami is built into the games networking.
As with most delisted content, if you bought the game you'll still be able to access it in your downloads and play it, tho most likely not online. The Japanese PSN and Steam versions will not be affected as they're different publishers. Sony has stated that if the game comes back to PSN with a different publisher users won't have to rebuy the game if they owned the original, but they're not sure how it'll work as this hasn't ever happened before… whatever that means.
So what was up with Konami? Personal feuds?
I tried the Steam version of Skullgirls when it was in the free beta weekend–-the controls were pretty weird (and unexplained until I looked in the keys menu) and it was pretty wonky overall. I couldn't remap any keys so I had to delete the .ini settings each time and restart, then I found out different keys entered different things. Ie, ENTER was used for the pause menu in a fight, but it wouldn't select in the main menu and I'd have to use low kick or whatever.
Though as much as I don't care for this game anymore, that's one hell of an asshole move from Konami.
Wow…that really sucks. Lab Zero just can't catch a break, when they were nearing putting out Squigly too. I still play, rarely, with one of my friends,so this'll be a bummer not being able to go online.
Sorry for double posting, but news update on what happened as well as the future upgrades planned:
http://labzerogames.com/skullgirls-encore-and-you/
I guess this is about the only way they can get around it as the "upgrades" are just about the same as the more up-to-date patches of the Steam version. They just seemingly can't do anything with Skullgirls under its original name, which is a shame(I might be wrong, but I think that's how it works.)
Ooh, I never paid fpr the color DLC the first time around, looks like I can get it for free now ^__^

Same here,guess we got lucky,lol.
Capcom isn't exactly the best example to be follow, but:
Ok, this is probably my favorite april fools joke now. It's just too good.
Meh. At least you don't have to buy an entire game for her.

But yeah, too bad that can't be said for a certain other game coughUSF4coughDecaprecoughcoughripoffcough

really guy? 5 characters, 6 stages, rebalance, red focus, W ultra, delayed wakeup, version select, and team battle online mode? for 15 dollars?
as far as fighting games go, that's a damn good update. while it's all good fun to shit on Capcom, let's make sure to save the shit for when they actually deserve it, lord knows there are enough times.

Not really, considering that nearly half of that stuff was ported straight from SFxT. But hey, to each his own I guess.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
And another thing, who's says I'm shitting on Capcom for fun? Because honestly I wasn't. -_-
friendly reminder that Eliza is out on PSN and should be out soon (if not already) on 360.
