Because in Japan no one reads the manga.
New Opening 14 Discussion
-
-
I'm just hoping that if Toei gives us another series, that the 1st opening is sung by the man who sang We Are!, Hiroshi Kitadani.
Isn't he with JAM Project now? I think it would be a bit….
Oh hey wait, you just provided the best idea anyone's ever had ever.
-
@No:
As a person whom Toei spoilt on Robin's joining , I beg to differ.
considering the japanese follow the manga more than the anime, and once something 'new' pops up in the manga, it generates a lot of enthusiasm among the fanbase, i have a feeling it's not that they're intentionally spoiling it, but that they're trying to take advantage of the 'new thing' and draw in a larger crowd, maybe manga fans, to the anime version.
example: when gear 2nd appeared in the anime, and luffy doing gear 2nd was immediately in the opening; or when luffy vs. usopp happened and it was in the opening, too. if a new crew member joins, it goes in the opening as soon as it happens, because they're trying to capitalize while the fanbase is still excited about it.
i honestly wouldn't be surprised if we saw a timeskip opening, because it's such a big deal for the manga. if we're getting filler, i doubt it'll happen, though.

By that logic George Lucas should have let the press know ahead of time Darth Vader was Luke Skywalkers father. Some things are more important than cheap publicity, especially when you honestly don't need it.

Yeah, that'd be more like George Lucas telling the press about it TODAY.
Who knows, maybe the anime only fans have been successful at not looking at any Jump covers or when they canvased whole trains with current manga events.
-

If he did that it would ruin the surprise for everyone. And I know the same goes for Toei and Hikari E, but the people in Japan probably already knew about Robin's joining of the Luffy Pirates since they read the manga, and as Ao Kiji said, they just did it to bring in more viewers.
Still though I remember before when I first layed eyes on opening 3, and thought "people who haven't read the manga are gonna think 'why is Ms. All Sunday there'?".

Except it was like what, three episodes before it actualy happened ?
I think they could waited a little longer if they waited that long.
-
Hikari E started on the last episode of Season 2: Fifth Voyage, and Robin joined the crew during the last episode of Season 2: Sixth Voyage, so the opening spoiled what happened prolly a mere 13 or 14 episodes I'd say.
-

This response just confuses me, first you disregard the fact that Toei's timing with Hikari E was a bone headed move because apparently every japanese citizen is required by law to read the One Piece manga.
Than you reaffirm my point by with a personal antidote.:wassat:
In regards to what Ao Kiji said about Robin bringing in viewers, I really highly doubt that. Out of all the members of Baroque Works that mattered , Robin had little to no screen time. A character lurking in the shadows of (at that point) more personable villains like Bon Clay and Crocodile isn't going to bring in new viewers.
-
Toei's been better with the spoilers. In the "We Are" Remake opening, they didn't show Brook with the crew….despite it being quite obvious he would join, and he did in but a few episodes.

I know dude I have mixed feelings about these types of spoilers.:ermm:

if star wars was a popular book series, most people would already be aware of it.
it's more like harry potter showing the events of the novel in the trailers to amp up fans who already know what's going to happen, but are just excited to see how it plays out in live-action.

they're not required, but most japanese fans DO read the manga.
once again, it's like the harry potter series; no one considers the harry potter movies to be the MAIN SERIES or gets upset if the film trailers spoil events for fans who aren't caught up with the current novel.it seems like in japan, if you get spoiled by an anime opening, it's your own fault for not having caught up to the current events of one piece. the anime is NOT the main series; it's the manga.

if you were up-to-date with the manga by the time hikari e debuted in the anime, you've read way beyond the robin from the baroque works arc..
if you dropped the series, just seeing a brand-new main character in the opening might spark your curiosity to check out an episode or two. -

If you dropped the series why would you be watching the intro?
I think you're confusing an anime intro for an advertisement. -

I think you're confusing an anime intro for an advertisement. Why watch the opening if you've dropped the anime? Obviously because it's a new song and new animation. That'd be enough for some to pick the anime back up(myself included).
-
If you dropped something it's going to take more than just a new pop song to get you interested again. And even then you could just You tube that shit.
Also, corner cutting tricks aside, every episode has new animation. -
I wonder if they are gonna spoil the events of chapter 592 because this is the biggest.
-

Also, corner cutting tricks aside, every episode has new animation.who says someone doesn't stumble across the intro on youtube, see new characters, islands, techniques, etc., and get re-interested in the series? some people don't ditch a series because they hate it; someone people just drift away because they have lives outside of anime and manga series.
not saying a new opening is a game-changer, but it definitely gets hyped enough to make a few people stumble across it who aren't in the die hard fanbase. sometimes, i stumble across a new intro for a series i dropped, see a bunch of interesting stuff in it, and, out of curiosity, watch an episode or two to see how the characters and interesting things from the intro are used in the actual show.
-
If you dropped the series why would you be watching the intro?
I think you're confusing an anime intro for an advertisement. And I think you are confused as to who this show is marketed to [HINT: Not you].
Do you think the general public has seen every episode of One Piece let alone watched it for more than 10 years every week?
-
I wonder if they are gonna spoil the events of chapter 592 because this is the biggest.
I dunno, but I do not hope so.
Personally, I just want an opening that's similar to Share The World. Mabye not that kind of song but something with the crew together before they got separated. OR even better, if the new opening was going through all the important events in Luffy's life, like meeting his friends and defeating his strongest enemies. That would probably work
-
Oh yeah, if this really is the last opening of the first show, then I also want to see every character the Strawhats have met so far in the opening. You know, like in the 10th opening where you could see every ally from the Morgan Arc to Enies Lobby. That would be pretty sweet.
-

I liked your second idea, but we really don't need an intro with the crew together as if they're already united. Save that for Opening 15.
-
I've been thinking about this for a while now, if Toei makes another One Piece series like with Dragon Ball Z, then what do you guys think they'll call it?
-
IF it happens, most people seem to GUESS that it would be called "One Piece - New World".
-
I think its got a nice ring to it.
Sounds cool.
-
This new intro premieres this Saturday?
-
I imagine that it would be pushed back due to the extra week off thanks to the quake, but they might be contractually obligated to air it on the original date. Could go either way, I guess, but I wouldn't get my hopes up.
-
I'm not really in any hurry to see this new intro, but I do image that it'd be pushed back a week.
I'm just glad we get an episode this week since there's no Jump this week which means no new chapter.
-
Given Toei is ending Dragonball Kai on schedule (which means we won't get episode 98 on air), they might still do the new opening on schedule, even if it was planned for another episode.
Of course, who knows. We'll find out this Saturday/Sunday.
-

Wow, really? What a sad send-off for Kai. First the whole soundtrack fiasco and now an unaired final episode. I guess they need to start Toriko as soon as possible to hype the movie.
Anyway, that might really affect One Piece, maybe not the new opening but the episode order will most likely change. The crossover (493) was planned to air alongside Toriko 1 after all..
-
toriko x one piece preview at the end of kai, looks awesome! but when is it? next week? does it replace one piece or toriko?
-
I replaces Kai. Kai is over after episode 97. Toriko premieres next weekend.
I'm sad but yet gald.:cwy:

He asked if the crossover will replace OP next neek; it will.
I'm not 100% sure of this yet, but i think Toriko 1 will air at 9am, just before the crossover.
-

That wouldn't make to much sense though. The crossover would be the perfect lead in for Toriko.

Putting it in the One Piece timeslot is much more likely to get more views though since more people would probably tune in at that point.
-
Oh wait so we get Toriko episode 1 AND the Crossover next week too?
-
Yeah, no real One Piece, so no opening until April 10.
-
That's fine with me I've been waiting for Toriko for a long time.
Btw, has anyone gotten the May issue of Shonen Jump yet? I still haven't got mine in the mail yet.
-

I think they would go with that as well, sounds the best, if not that than "One Piece New Era" or something. Im just wondering if they do create a new series will it keep the same awesome musical score the series has had, or will we get something that cant even compare to it?
-
Well, Naruto more-or-less changed all it's BGM in Shippuden.
But then again, I think DBZ retained some of DB's BGM.
Sooo… it can go either way, basically.
Assuming we get a second anime series, that is.
-
One Piece won't be One Piece without Kohei Tanaka's score.
-
Yeah and While he has improved. (You cant tell in Naruto, But suprisingly in Pretty Cure) Yasuharu Takanashi's music is REALLY uninspired and bland.
-
I would not like to see a -ONe piece New World- for the next seasons, I prefer One piece 3D2Y, I think it's cooler XD. Or it remains One piece, we didn't got -ONe piece Grand Line- after Logue town so.
And for the 14 Opening: I wanted to see it with the Sabo FB in the first part (strong bro bond !) and in the 2nd part all the BIG characters BB ( BB means Black beard in english but on french forums it's Barbe Blanche= WB) supernovae, shishi., marines … I think it will be good before the : Fillers ? or the 2Y.
-
so psyched for it. really pulling for this. i would hope they wouldn't throw their ost out.
i think pokemon, which had a huge ost collection, was tooken all away for the so called "reboot": best wishes. in place for a similar game ost
-
so psyched for it. hoping funi will one day try to get the rights for toriko.
so what exactly is the relationship between funi and toei? they've aired two of biggest properties, will this be given a green light as well? just curious
Pretty sure I actually remember hearing of some bad blood since I heard Funi kind of tricked Toei into giving them the license. I don't know any details though. Plus, Funi only got One Piece after 4kids screwed up.

tricked? might have forgotten that.

That would just sound god awful.
Especially since that message doesn't have any big influence now after the time skip. -
Pull a Gintama and call it "One Piece!"

Naruto was done by Studio Pierrot, though. What they did doesn't matter. Toei kept Shunsuke Kikuchi as the composer through both Dragon Ball and DBZ, (though not GT, for some reason…) and they also hired Takanori Arisawa to compose the soundtracks for the first four Digimon-series. (But not Savers or Xros Wars, though that was kind of inevitable, what with him being dead and all...) I'm fairly certain that Toei will keep Kouhei Tanaka as the composer even if they start a "new" One Piece anime.
-
Well Funi is doing a much better better job than 4kids
also anyone know what episode this new opening starts?
