Yamato seems more connected to the Joy Boy plotline than Jinbe honestly.
Joy Boy made a promise to the Mermaid Princess of the past, probably related to the fate of the fishman and Noah.

Usually electricity is connected with Air (see Thunders)
Yeah but I'm hoping Oda ignores that since air powers especially as a logia are distinct enough from Enel or Kaido.
Sort of how Oda had Magellan with the poison paramecia but still brought in Caesar with the gas logia.
One Piece is just a Piece of Musical Composition. A piece of music to unite all races.
One Piece of Meat. The Niku Niku Devil Fruit. Luffy takes a bite with a smile on his face. Explodes! Fin.
@FolhaS:
I think so too, I theorized back when they were fighting the virus and I'm still waiting for something to come out of it by the end of the arc, even if it's just Chopper keeping a sample.
Two bounties would be funny
Ceasar helped Chopper to improve the time limit of the Rumble Ball's effect. Baby Grandpa is the hilarious consequence.
I definitely see Chopper having a vial of the virus and/or antidote to study. Or at least studying his own blood work.
Chopper adding another transformation or 2 fits as there's no reason it can only be 7 transformations. 8 if you include Baby Granpa Chopper.
Next upgrade opportunity will come with Vegapunk's assistance. Missed opportunity for Chopper to learn something from Judge.
I'm sure while Chopper is healing the entire crew after this he'll have time to study Sanji's new physiology and then learn some Germa science or Lunarian abilities.
King was triggered when Zoro shouted this to Sanji.
King for twirly brows!
Kidding but not really!
So Shanks getting to Wano and killing off Kaido?
Like both Luffy and Kaido being On their last leg as Kaido barely getting back up after King Kong Gun and Luffy being knocked out/ too wounded to get up..
With Zoro having that much trouble with King, I feel like "in 1 vs 1 always bet On Kaido" might still hold true. Shanks killing Kaido as long due revenge and thing that needs to be done would make some sense, especially as Luffy never killed his enemy. That might be introduction to side of Shanks that Kidd meet up with and that might put him and Luffy at some odds. Sure Shanks is Luffys idol but Luffy really does not know Shanks as a person as he is now, a lot might have changed. He might be allied in a way with World Goverment as 5 Elders agreed to meeting with him.
Kaido and Bigmom definitely need to die at some point.
And to be honest, Kaido's immortality is getting ridiculous. Now that we know the bit about CoC. Couldn't the person who captured him and tried to execute him just imbue some CoC in their blade before slicing his neck or whot ?

As they tried few methods of killing him and were unable to do so, Marines probably experimented On him a lot. Possibly at Punk Hazard and Vegapunk was able to remake Devil Fruit very alike to Kaidos. Then Kaido was rescued by someone or escaped himself. Thats what I expect at least.
I always pondered if we'll get Masked Deuce to meet with Luffy, but
! in the last Episode A drawn by Boichi, there's an additional scene where Deuce, after Marineford's events, discuss with Morgans about not selling him Ace's biography. Then he talks about writing some articles about Revolutionary Army's second-in-command and Luffy, asserting he wants to see the latter with his own eyes. Who knows if it's a scene Oda or redactor actually wanted Boichi to show just to hint to their meeting sooner or later.
Bogard might be revealed to be a member of SWORD. Possibly the head of the operation.
Maybe Zunisha is a devil fruit user, with the ancient giant elephant fruit.
Because of a terrible mistake he was sentenced to wander the earth and after the minks populated his back, he couldn´t rly transform ever back, because it would have destoryed their home.
With Wano open the minks would have a new place to stay.
Remember how Enel's Priests were punished by Cloud Drifting at the end of Skypiea?
I think Urouge might have come across one of them, probably Ohm, when he was on that sky island after meeting Kaidou. He could recruit him and find out through him about the events on Skypiea.

"You shall wander the earth and sea untill the Mink Tribe finds a safe home to stay" sounds like an awesome curse. Or maybe even "untill Wano opens it's borders and welcomes the Minks"
Zoro getting better with Enma is possibly part of why he's seeing that skeleton with the scythe
That Akainu got sent to deal with Blackbeard keeping Bonney hostage not just because Blackbeard was a huge threat, but also because she was somehow involved with the Celestial Dragons.
Bonney is probably the grandaughter of Queen Connie of Sorbet Kingdom. And the niece or daughter of Kuma.
When I first started reading One Piece back in 2004, I've always thought the series would end with Luffy finding the One Piece in a deep dark cave in Laugh Tale (then spelled "Raftle") with his crewmembers minus Franky, Jinbei and Brook behind him watching and the supposedly ending right there. Then came new developments throughout the series such as the reveal of the Ancient Kingdom, an upcoming war, Luffy getting his scar, Joyboy, 3 new crewmembers joining and how Gold D. Roger found One Piece. Roger appears to find One Piece outside or maybe inside a building instead of a deep dark
cave. Now I ended up seeing Luffy in his Joyboy mode standing in front of it like Roger and the war going on around them. Geez, such a wild ride here.
I used to have that crazy theory that Luffy was Roger on a loop and that the disease that kill him was the overused of the gear second (maybe combined with Magellan poison). I'm not sure why I was so convinced.
In the final panel of 1,043, we are actually seeing Luffy's hair morph into an afro and that was the secret to JoyBoy's strength all along. The Davy Back Fight finale was foreshadowing for this.
NExt coverstory will be the adventures of batman and gazelleman.
Call me stubborn, blind, whatever, I don't care.
I still think the legendary fruit is Kaido's. There's still the matter of Momonosuke's fruit being an failure to be addressed, and the Uo Uo no Mi's name is still questionable. Not to mention that the story has been painting it as a mystery (initially as Big Mom's life-long favor to Kaido when Wano started) and it coming from God Valley.
About Luffy's final panel, it's undeniable that Joyboy "manifested" there. But what does that mean? I don't know. But I don't think the goo covering Luffy is his fruit awakening. Nor is it related to Joyboy.
People seem to forget that Luffy already almost died in this arc, and in that moment he showed a telepathic ability, which enabled the Heart Pirates to save him. Also, every D dies smiling, so maybe it's Joybou manifesting in them, but the difference here is that Luffy's willpower allowed him to bounce back. As such, Joyboy manifesting is not related to the Gomu Gomu Fruit, but the Will of D. Any D can potentially be Joyboy, but only Luffy was able to bounce back to life.
So, the goo? I have a far simpler explanation. It's Caribou! I can't believe people have forgotten him!
The Heart Pirates reached Onigashima soon after Luffy and Momo. Why? Because they hitched a ride! The only character that was shown staying back in the ground was Shinobu. So, I think Caribou went up as well, and he was the one bringing the Heart Pirates within his body, so everybody could get up safely.
I think Caribou was watching the fight the whole time, and he saw what happened. As such, he believes Luffy can still bounce back and is helping him. The goo is a misdirection to make us think Luffy's powers awakened, but the real legendary fruit that the elders fear is actually Kaido's.

I wouldn't call any of this stubborn, blind or whatever. Just because one outcome is very likely it's not impossible that one of the now lesser likely ones will occur. Especially since Oda is no stranger to bait and switches.
I think it's good to keep an open mind and put out ideas but you should acknowledge where things seem to be going otherwise you just come off as in denial and delusional.
Luffy is going to ride Zunesha into battle.
We now know Gear 5th allows Luffy to turn into a giant. It's also practically confirmed Joy Boy had the same devil fruit as Luffy, and therefore, the same abilities, based on what Zunesha is saying. Finally, we know Zunesha was Joy Boy's crewmate.
So Joy Boy could have become huge enough to ride Zunesha, and therefore, so can Luffy. I predict we will see that at some point, likely at the final war.
The only issue is Luffy's ass would crush the mink tribe to death, but I'm gonna guess they will probably build some kind of machine that hides their city safely inside Zunesha's saddle or something. Franky can probably build it in a weekend.

I think we will see Luffy's awakening affect Zunesha and turn him into a zany cartoony elephant as some major contrast to the old sad sunken eyed elephant he currently is. I also don't think that would mean Luffy will ride him as a giant, but maybe a combo of bigger luffy and a bit of a smaller Zunesha (humour in this luffy grabs his tale and like a car jack in reverse his legs fall lower).
Guessing they're going to reveal that Roger, Shanks and Blackbeard all laugh so much not because they're naturally good humoured, but because they all knew of the Nika fruit and Joyboy & were hoping to 'fake it until you make it'. Shanks had enough self-knowledge to know it wouldn't work for him so was hoping to find Ace. After Luffy ate the fruit he realized the boy was a better fit.
I've been re-reading Fishman Island recently and, besides reconfirming how bad it is, I've encountered something that I haven't see anyone mention.
When the Strawhats first encounter Wadatsumi, they mistake it for an Umibozou, a sea-faring giant buddhist monk yokai. "Umi" of course means sea, and "Bozou" references the buddhist nature of it, literally meaning "sea priest".
Then, a few chapters later, Wadatsumi gets formally revealed as Oonyuudou Wadatsumi, with Oonyuudou being another kind of monk yokai not related with the sea.
Why mention how Wadatsumi resembles a sea buddhist monk yokai out of the blue and then go "actually no"? What other character could be that Umibozou, even if not literally?
It has been mentioned a lot of times, but Imu is literally Umi (sea) backwards, and the kanji it is written with mean Buddha. If you search for depictions of the Umibozou, a lot of them picture a giant shadowy figure with imposing, haunting eyes and a round head as the only discernible traits. Both of which are the traits that are been heavily emphasized when Imu was presented: his shape, including his head (and strange elongated crown) and his eyes in close-up.
So, whatever Imu is, alien, ancient being or whatnot, I think there's a high chance he will be related to or represent some aspect of the Umibozou.
This might be a dumb theory, but I'm honestly taking it kinda serious so I'll put it here instead.
I think the current cover story is going to feature the Vinsmoke brothers (maybe Reiju too, idk) regaining some of their emotions and finding "love" in various Charlotte girls. Yes, I'm playing shipping and pairing up Ichiji, Niji, and Yonji with Charlotte girls. This isn't out of nowhere though. It became a bit of a trend amongst the daughters in a desire for independence, dissatisfaction at having their love lives forced to follow Linlin's wims, which eventually turns into a loyalty to their spouse that overrules their fear/love for Linlin. It first it was just Lola, but now Praline and Chiffon have escaped too, with Pudding seeming like it's only the guilt stopping her from running away with Sanji. The whole incident very well could've kicked up some suppressed feelings in some of the other Charlotte daughters now.
I carry with this another theory that BM is gonna abduct King from Wano and kickstart an invasion of Elbaf to finally force a giant into her family. The only question left is what the 3rd race she's missing is. It's only fitting that, while BM thinks her dream is nearly within reach and is obsessing over finally achieving it, she doesn't notice her family is falling apart with her back turned.
I'm not gonna pick someone for Reiju, but I could be amused into shipping her with Yuen.
Starting with Yonji; Yonji always came across as the most immature and first to get physical. I'd say he needs a strong woman who can dominate/keep him in check and pair up nicely with his more physical build. Looking through the list, Charlotte Prim stands out strongly to me. As an octopus mermaid-human, her tentacle legs would make an amusing companion to Yonji's chain arms. As Praline's twin, it wouldn't be a stretch to have her wonder what possibly could've made her sister abandon the family, or ignite a longing of her own to escape. Having someone to aid them through the sea would certainly be of great help in escaping, and it's awfully convenient that she happened to be one of the children selected to dissect the brothers, and just happened to be excluded from the update of the book being lit on fire.
Niji is actually the hardest to nail down something to go with. All I can really go off is how he seemed the most vindictive to Sanji, but that goes away with the end of the arc. It's possible he's meant to be seen as an "angry middle child" I guess. Unfortunately, all that helps with is saying he needs someone who can be genuinely nice and treat him like an individual, which really can just be any daughter if Oda wants them to be. I'm really pulling at nothing here, but if I'm playing with Niji getting someone with emphasis on their legs, I guess Niji can have someone with emphasis on their arms. Conveniently, there's some quadruplet long-arm sisters (ignoring the brother) that can continue both themes here. Comparing Maple, Marble, and Myukuru I'm gonna personally guess Myukuru, but nothing really to go on.
Ichiji is the eldest, most serious, and the most objectionably focused on completing whatever their current goals are. I think it'd be best to have him contrast with his brothers by ending up with… how to say... someone simple and unassuming. Someone who doesn't really stand out compared to an Octopus mommy or Long-arm girl or a 3 eye'd girl. That's why what comes to mind is to have Ichiji somehow end up with one of the Decuplet girls. I really can't pick out one amongst the 5 of them, but the idea of a Decuplet wanting to escape and gain some independence empathizing with and falling for a quadruplet soldier practically writes itself.
And with that, the end of the cover story will feature the Vinsmokes sailing away from Totland with their new morality chains and a lonely, lonely Judge wondering where he went wrong.
Not sure if this is the best place but this guy just deserves more views not about if what he concludes is going to turn right but about how he argues for it/frames it/structures it logically. Many here could learn from it.
Like there is just such a clean self awareness about what he assumes/what he bases it on, etc.

I haven't heard about this youtuber till now, but the video was great, thanks for pointing it out! :)
Considering Shirahoshi's case, I'm wondering if "Pluton" is actually the battleship itself, or just the name of the one who commands Pluton, and that Sukiyaki was mistaken
Weird side question but is it maybe time to retire this thread for an updated version? Mostly asking cause this is one of the few threads that takes quite a bit to load on here. But I don't really know what the rule of thumb for succession threads is.
I think Blackbeard's coming back to the story in a big way and he's setting his sights on demoralizing and breaking Luffy for the next three islands. Sphinx will be first followed by either Hachinosu or back to Wano. The order of the last two is dependent on Caribou either leading the SHs to a trap (Hachinosu) or spilling BB's plans (Wano). I'm predicting the following to happen:
I don't believe we will have our BB vs. SH fights yet. I think they will escape and Luffy will be in a shaken state. This will lead to Elbaf for recovery and upgrades before the Final War. Now that I said it out loud it will never happen.
Time for my silly theory. Original Joyboy was not defeated by Celestial Dragons founders and Imu but from one who had the darkness fruit. This user tried to take over the world and destroyed ancient kingdom Joyboy tried to stopped him and died in the process. Blackbeard knows about this and is after this power, that is why Shanks warned Elder 5.
@forgion
I have a similar theory. That the WG is not the real enemy. Instead, there was an Ancient Evil who had the Darkness Fruit, and the Void Century is the rise and fall of that evil. In its peak, the Ancient Evil created the Red Line and the Grand Line somehow.
Joyboy was the one to unite the world against this evil. The Ancient Weapons were made/gathered to undo what the Ancient Evil did to the world.
However, when Joyboy suceeded, the greedy 20 kings betrayed the alliance and took the Ancient Evil's place. To make sure their new World Government would not be challenged, they buried and banned all knowledge of the VOid Century, in hopes both Joyboy and the Ancient Evil would be forgotten. The Nefertari family, upon seeing what they caused, refused to follow the other 19 kings anymore, and instead switched sides again.
So, as the WG falls, the Will of the Ancient Evil rises. And that will be the final conflict.
@Deicide Good to see that someone sees this patter.
My main difference is they got so scared of the enemy power and burred all the knowledge of his existence and formed the World Government to prevent a new enemy.
The ancient kingdom probably is where this villain started and got completely destroyed but since it is the source it should be erased.
Nefertari didnt agree with all this or that they had Joyboy sacrifice gone and left.

Agreed, 100%.
But the only flaw I see in all of this, is that if Blackbeard is Luffy's final villain, you'd think this would position Shiryuu to be Zoro's final opponent. And whoever to face Sanji.
Whereas I think the best final opponents for Zoro and Sanji are Mihawk and Vegapunk. So I'm a bit confused on how Oda will pull it all off.
In the Elbalf arc there will be an homage to the myth where Thor tries and fails to pick up a cat.

Wait what? That's a thing? O.o
@Ivotas It sure is! It's part of a tale from the Prose Edda & Poetic Edda where Thor & Loki are given various trials by the giant king Utgard-Loki. There's a pretty good summary of it here:
And if you think the description of the cat is an exaggeration, here's a lithograph from 1872 depicting the scene:
There's even an homage to the myth in the 70s run of Thor in the Marvel comics.
@last-exit-to-laughtale
Thanks for sharing. Since I'm not so familiar with Norse Mythology this was a really interesting watch indeed. Now I wish we'd got some sort of prank like this if we go to Elbaf but I doubt we will.
@Goukan Onimaru has the DF that is also inspired by Onyudo.
Are Mythical Zoan users the only Zoans that can utilize their DF abilities w/o transforming their body. Kaido lifted Onigashima while in his base form (997). Orochi head was chopped in base form (985). Luffy is always rubber (87).
To me, this might be a basis that Luffy was always a Mythical Zoan user if true. For that, it shifts to Paramecia. Are there Paramecia that don't really require some trigger? Brook had to die. Maybe Bellamy, but I haven't seen it tested out enough on his part. Maybe i'm missing a Paramecia. Please help.
@Cockycent said in Theories That Don't Deserve Their Own Thread v.2:

Buggy's is always active.
@Deicide Alvida's too I think.
@Deicide Thanks, I initially discounted Buggy because he can't control the body part at a certain distance, but the part being away from his body in the 1st place makes that irrelevant anyway.
@danie I'm not so sure about this. Is she always like that or is she activating it? Why isn't she always slipping off things? Or is she controlling it to a certain extent.
@Cockycent I don't remember seeing her how she originally was ever since she first appeared(in Buggy's cover story?). So I think the fruit permanently changed her.
@danie Wouldn't the fat just leave her body or was it retained?
@Cockycent I seem to remember her saying that all the fat slipped off her.
