This one is a quickie, I found out like 20 minutes ago that its Jaret Reddick's birthday. Jaret is a business friend of mine, and the lead singer to Bowling for Soup.

What medium do you use? I'd guess oil pastel for some.. or is it digital?

Its all Digital. I typically use Photoshop, and for vector items I use Flash (I'm not a huge fan of Illustrator.)

Day 12:

Easily the weakest so far. I just did it in less than an half hour. I don't want to make excuses but I had a group capstone to worry about at school. Its only 3/5's done and its got two weeks left to finish producing a full fledge animated 3D short.

My actual name is Steven Ray Brown. My first internet name was Silverbolt00/01 named after my favorite character from Beast Wars, Silverbolt. Then on Pixeltendo (my first Forum) I changed my name to Silver when the boards changed hosting. But some people refer'd to me as Mr. Bolt. Notice that I had the same Initials, so when I cam here in the spirit of the whole "D." names I just named my internet alias Silver Ray Bolt or Silver R. Bolt.

Again, I haven't been able to give these everyday pieces my entire attention due to school and work. I think they're coming out more like thumbnails and sketches than anything. Which alright. Like the above is more conceptual than anything. The Quality isn't what I want it to be, but it conveys the messages and style I wanted.

Day 14
Here's some things I didn't draw, but colored. I did these for free, so they're very sloppy. If I am coloring for other people, how much I am getting paid determines how much I time I spent on them. These two together probably came to an hour of work (for free D:). I do free stuff for practice.

And a bonus, a poster I did for the Japanese Pop Culture Club at my school; (I don't do Typography, so this is just the art)

Political and Historical Issue homework. Being in art school, you have to make sure every class involves an art piece… I got war on drugs, so the above piece is suppose is dedicated to the hypocrisy of banning certain drugs over other drugs; when they all have their own harms.

This is something I want to work on really bad. I'll explain the theory on this one later. I want to work on it but because its finals time at my school…. all my attention has to be focused on my 3D projects.

So the full title to this thread is Something Everyday when its not Finals Week, but its not as catchy.

But anyways remember this;

Well one of my finals was creating, then rigging him up in 3D. I got to a dominantly 3D school. I originally wanted to be a 2D animator, and I was suckered in by Admissions people, after I got through the Fundmental classes (Design, Perspective, Color Theory, etc) I found out that there are only 4 2D classes compared to the 20 3D oriented classes.

I learned rather quickly I do not have the passion for 3D. I'm actually not a bad 3D animator, but modeler, lighter, or rigger I am not. I do how-ever love the preproduction work before 3D. And I can do that all day long. I looooove me some Storyboards. I might post some old ones later.

And its not like I am not skilled in 3D, its just not where the passions lies. Anywho here's a pic of the rig so far;

I hear good things about Maya, but it is pricy if you are an individual.

If you're a student and have a student email you can get a completely free student version of Maya for at least a year. That model won't be texture for a while, but its completely animatable currently. Well, minus the lack of working eyes.
