Pretty much what the title says. I'm looking for a nice beat 'em up on the DS that I can easily pick up and play to kill some time. Barring the DS, I'll settle for the GBA. Any similarities to Streets of Rage, Astro Boy: Omega Factor, and the old Ninja Turtle games are a bonus (I'd add Final Fight, but I've never played that series, soooooooo…).
Anyone have any recommendations?
The only one that I know off the top of my head is Tokyo Beat Down
Theres also TMNT: Arcade Attack but I've heard only negative things about that one.
The GBA port of River City Ransom, the ORIGINAL beat 'em up, is pretty good. And speaking of GBA ports of games you haven't played, there's always the Final Fight GBA game :P. Still, the PSN and XBLA version of Final Fight is way better - I've played it at a friend's.
I've been thinking about downloading Final Fight for the Virtual Console, actually. That or Streets of Rage 2.

Isn't that more of a RPG than a beat 'em up?
You upgrade your attacks and get stronger and there's a story, yes. But the gameplay is totally wander around town and beat-em up. The sheer variety of attacks and abilities is pretty crazy.

You should TOTALLY check out Nine Hours, Nine Doors, Nine Persons, then. Some of the best Dual Screen usage on the system.
Coincidentally, one of the best games on the system.
