everytime I look at my SW Luffy pop I remember how much I liked him until we got other pop's in the SW line… then slowly.. it was clear Luffy was the shittiest one, like always. So dead pan. I swear as soon as they make a time skip Luffy pop, I'm putting SW away. SW Luffy's only still on my shelf because I have Brook, Chopper, and Usopp next to him.

As a wanna-be artist, I just went through a training of drawing guns, old-styled pistols and stuff, including 3 goes to historical museums with drafts and sketches from there, and I assure you - this is NOT how guns look. This is some flat childish replicas made from wood. I mean, REALLY, they are just… flat. You'd think they had alot of expirience making guns after line of Strong World figures, but nah-ah!~
(not to mention that actually he has 4 guns in cannon there, not 3)The base.

Okay, the base is pretty much well done (although I still don't get why in their main font for all P.O.P.s they use small "C", but whatever…) and I'm happy to get a base with my favorite pirate flag - its One Piece, most of the pirate symbols here are some kiddie-styled skull-portraits of the owners, and Blackbeard Pirates' one is among the very few with a good meaning behind it. Once I get over my pussyness I'll go and ge it tattooed, looking like real bones, on my back.
But I don't quite like their tendency to make the bases so big lately - all of the recent figures had it huuuuuuuuge, I mean I can understand Newgate, but BB & Garp? I don't think it was neccesary. And, like I already mentioned, this is basically the first figure of the line to have problems of getting into the pegs on the base and actually fitting in them, and not just that, it keeps springing off! God lord.The clothes.
It's just… bad. I can understand them using metalic paint on Hancock's get-up, but making Blackbeard's shirt shiny-maroon colour? Really? And as always, I just hate the coats on P.O.P.s, they all lack movement and look so unnatural, like they are dirty, folded pieces of fabric stuck in the outer space with no gravity affecting them.Now onto the worst parts…[hide]

First of all, they failed to capture the proportions of it - nose and eyes are located way too close to each other, and they are too centrefied on the skull.

Another big fail is that they made the gums show, which never happened in cannon and made his whole face look different. As a person with short upper lip I know what showing gums can do to your face.
Also, he had a pretty tiny 'stache above the upper lip, while on figure it fills all of the space between nose and lips, which also gives it a wrong look.
His hair looks like it's been groomed back, instead of falling over his ears, and making it look like he lacks ear-shells all in all.

Whole head is quite small compared to his body, they cut off 70% of his neck.His hat looks like some sort of a retarded crown… It's very pretty much pulled down in the original.

I'm debating whether or not I should get one, seeing how Luffy is my all time favorite fictional character… The only thing holding me back is the fact that he never wears anything like that in Cannon, and never uses guns either(besides SW),so it kinda seems out of character.... I've really only been collect P.O.Ps and I love them... So what do you guys think should I grab one? Cuz it's either Plex Luffy or another P.O.P...

Finding the original Luffy, Shanks and Ace GLM is pretty expensive now and even with the rerelease of WCF's, 12 volumes (not including the SW ones) will cost you alot. I love both lines alot but starting from the begining would be a daunting task.Then it comes down to personal preference. WCF's are awesome but can tend to look abit messy when you have alot of them, where are DX lines look nicer all together etc
If I were you, I would go with the Plex Luffy as he looks great, and Zoro and Sanji will be out soon to go with him!

I in particular like BB P.O.P, however since I am not a die hard fan of the character , I can undestand the frustration some feel about it. In my case I am a fanatic of the Marines, and it bothers me the fact that Aokiji did not include his cape/coat.

well I and many others who got him, think that yes .. he is that good. :) I mean, every luffy POP had something which wasn't right .. the neo didn't look good .. even though they tried, the face was off .. arg … SW luffy's face is off ... at least it's not typically luffy. and marineford luffy ... well either you like that one or you don't. I don't, the face is bad imo and sculpting too. but hellohooo .. look at that plex luffy .. :wub: awesome luffy grin? Check. nice size? Check. amazing sculpt? Check. no paint issues whatsoever (well I only can speak for mine)? Check. one of oda's coolest colour spreads made into figures? Check. XD what not to like about plex luffy?!!! ... I know, some people don't like his clothes ... gosh, that's not a reason to pick on him. seriously, luffy changes clothes all the time in colour spreads and they always look great on him. I'm glad we finally get a luffy with different clothes! :3 and the guns ... if you so don't like them, you could still get him miniature meat .... XD
